Jim Johnson i kind of get the point you’re trying to make, but that girl is not obese, wtf. do you know what obese looks like?? and who says she isn’t gorgeous? in my opinion, she is a very beautiful girl. helping/supporting someone in leading a healthy lifestyle and putting them down and hurting their feelings because of their current one are two completely different things.

I hate parents who tell their kids in such young ages they need to loose weights. If your child is overweight just have a new entire diet for the entire family and serve different kind of food, smaller plates and portions and include everyone to do some sports activities. Joining a sport team, riding bike regularly or anything like that so the kid can loose weights without being shamed .. kids these ages don’t feed themselves! If a child does NOT want to ride a bike or run, you will not force him/her, because how can you? If he/she eats sweets outside the home, you can't control it, unless you guard him/her like a prisoner and don't let him/her go out on his/her own even across the street. Being a parent is difficult. There is no tutorial for this. You are a parent straight away. Sometimes your solutions are good, sometimes you go astray.
There's a huge difference between a mother who's worried for their childs health and happiness (if the child is unhappy with their weight) and a mother who wants to live through their child or wants people to think she's some great mom because her daughter is ideal.
My mom is a good mom, but she loved to show off her children. When my appearance changed and I became less "show-off-able" she became very cold to me. Our relationship is better now, but it was not good for a long while.
This happened to me when I was 14 I would've absolutely loved for somebody to stand up for me like those women did, it's inspiring seeing these kind of people 💗💗
Ya but so many people said such encouraging words and were helpful in a situation they thought was real, so that probably made her happy. Besides she isn't really overweight, she looks fine to me.
MeowMeowASMR She’s only a kid plus more than likely she hasn’t hit puberty so she’s hasn’t hit a growth spurt. She’ll probably loses the weight as she gets older.

Yeah true last year I lost a ton of weight because of an eating disorder. Even when I lost the weight I didn’t feel any better about myself I felt worse. I was more on edge about getting “fat” again. I felt that losing weight would make me happier but it made more miserable than I already was. I’m better now but one thing that bothers me is that people assume when people lose the weight their lives are improved and they are happy. If you develop an ed when you aren’t thin to begin with you are a success story. But if someone who is already skinny develops an ed they go to the hospital. Oof that was a very long vent sorry

Viviana Marion if you’re friends do that to you than you need new friends. It’s easier said than done but if they are going to treat you that way you deserve better. I’ve had a lot of toxic friends in my life and it’s not worth the heartbreak. You’re worth more than you know and if they don’t see that than they aren’t worth your time. I’m sorry about my lack of advice, despite my long experience with toxic people I’m still not great at giving advice on how you should rid yourself of them. But my main piece of advice is to get rid of them as fast as possible.
I understand. My mom wasn’t like this, but everyone else was. It’s not ok. I now know that it’s not ok to say these things to a child. I was just 8 when the comments started... the toxic cycle stops with us. We can be the adults kids need around so that they don’t have to feel this way. I hope you find healing and peace.
I don't know, I'm a chubby person, and I don't really care about "your fat," Any more. I know I'm not skinny, and that's healthy. We can't just pretend we are all skinny, because we aren't. We are all beautiful, even if the beauty is buried deep, it's in there, waiting to show.

Agreed. It's the right thing for the wrong reasoning. People don't want to be shamed for being overweight and of course that is ok. No one should go through that. But to the person who said she doesn't have to worry about it at her age, she is wrong. I’m from the Philippines, and people tend to be “smaller” there. They weigh less than the average American. But, they’re healthy. Some of you people are taking my statement the wrong way. It really depends on what kind of tissue makes up your body weight

We are all subjective as human beings, and it isn’t anyones right to make someone feel bad ab the body they have, the only person who should be in charge of your body is you, so don’t live for other people, and don’t stop living for other people either.

It don’t matter how much weight you push as long as you are healthy you are more than okay ! And go outside and enjoy your life you don’t have to be ashamed of yourself
I feel this. I had a verbally abusive mother growing up who cared a lot about appearances, and one of the biggest things she would use to insult my sister and I was weight. She would make comparisons between our bodies and the bodies of our shorter, skinnier friends and say that certain clothes weren't meant for our body types (like leggings or bodycon dresses). It was ridiculous too because, looking back, my sister and I weren't even overweight, we just weren't pencil thin like she wanted. I developed an ED at 18/19, of which part of it was excessively working out. I remember going shopping with my sister at the mall and having a panic attack in a Forever 21 because I was convinced I was too fat for everything in the store, I couldn't stop staring at the models. I'm almost 22 now and it took so much therapy for me to be able to go to the mall again and stop wearing clothes that would hide my body. Some people just aren't meant to be parents, they don't care what they have to say or how cruel they have to be in order to create the kid they want, instead of appreciating the kid they have.

man, this triggered some flashbacks to the days of clothes shopping with grandma. she used to say awful shit to me as a little girl about my weight and appearance and totally skewed my perspective of beauty. 7 years later after recovering from an eating disorder she wants to be all “you’ve always been beautiful” and “i don’t know why you resorted to that, you were fine before”. it boggles my mind how someone can convince themselves the things they said had no effect, but perhaps it’s out of guilt.

I used to cheer and was unhealthily skinny for years. It was all because my mom telling/dropping hints to me my whole life that I was over weight, putting me in sports, and just putting me down constantly (I was a perfectly healthy weight for my age and height). And then she would turn around and call me beautiful in public.. People constantly asked me if I was okay and my moms friends worried about me. I eventually quit and don’t talk to her much anymore. Body shamming is never okay, especially in children. Let them enjoy life.
When the lady jumped I screamed and jumped out of my chair because I thought she was going to spill her Starbucks on those white ESPENSIVE dresses. ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!!!
Depression made me eat more. I was already slightly overweight my whole life but I got borderline obese by the end of high school. That made me more depressed about how I looked, with my family constantly bringing it up. It’s hard for anyone going through it. I moved away for college, and the freedom and not hearing people’s constant babbling about my weight allowed me to think for myself. I made my own decision to fix it and I eventually got fit by the end of college. I really don’t think continuously pointing out to someone that they don’t look good works at all. They have to make their own decision, otherwise it’ll just feel like they’re changing for the sake of someone else and not for themselves. It makes all the difference in the world.
(And I get that sometimes people need to have things points out to them, so they can realize their problems to better themselves. But, it all goes back to how you bring up the issue).
@Gaunter O'Dimm not all of them, have you seen these transformations with over weight people and they loose a ton of pounds. Think twice before you write something. It may put people down.

There's nothing wrong with encouraging and helping your child to live a healthy lifestyle. There *is* a huge problem with shaming your child, especially to the point where they are uncomfortable and embarrassed. Parents, take note of what the women in the video said and did. This is all coming from a teenager who knows how important it is to have a healthy body image.
@Leah Grace My mom has even said she’s fat and she wants me to stop eating so much and don’t eat so late at night so I don’t become like her lol. Im an athlete/amateur for a sport and I do it every week day for an hour, or two hours 30 minutes and I’m not even 100 pounds so I think I’m fine 🙂💀
Yes, the parents are at fault for resulting in the kid being overweight. So by not shaming the kid, but supporting them in the process to lose weight, they will have a better relationship with health and fitness. So yes, it is necessary to have a healthy weight.
I feel sad for the little girl.. Ok, for all the people who don't understand what I mean, I feel sad for the girl in REAL LIFE, not in the act. I know that she's an actor but to be called "overweight" and be used because she is slightly "overweight" might hurt her feelings! Just saying so DON'T HATE!
If you want your child to lose weight, you need to change YOUR life style. If you are the parent it’s your responsibility. Not fat shame them, but bring healthy foods into your household, and encourage healthy behaviors like exercise. Cause chances are, the child is already aware about their body image and doesn’t need to be called out like “Oh you’re so fat”, by their parent figure, or anyone for that matter.
Yeah. If your kids doctors says they need to lose weight then you should work with your child, not against them. Maybe, offer to go on walks with them, or enroll them in a sport. Feed them healthy food and tell them they are beautiful. Don’t fat shame your kids.
I don't think we should sit here and say 'overweight children are perfect as they are'. I'm not gonna sit here and say they're any uglier or anything like that for it, it's just unsafe and unhealthy. I was basically her exact weight at that age, and it caused me a LOT of problems. My mom never pushed me to lose weight, she just gently encouraged me that I could if I tried. Honestly I'm still basically the same weight I have been since I grew to my full height -- And she STILL tries to encourage me that I can lose weight, despite knowing that I basically can't. Honestly, I appreciate it. It keeps me motivated to stay healthy, because I know someone cares about me. May sound sad but, when you're that big, you typically don't care about yourself at all. So hearing someone say things like 'Hey, you could get that body you want if you tried, I know you can!' is actually very helpful for someone like me.

It’s the food you serve and lack of physical activity that makes them weight more..
This is such an important comment. I am gonna pin this on my Whatsapp and Instagram. Thank you, stranger. Hope you have a good day! ❤
Sports teams cost $$$ dont they? Im asking cuz i cant remember. (I just remember being to broke to do a lot.)
@@livewithmeterandnomeasureb1679 school offers a lot of free activities. And they can still create their own team with friends and neighbors or just go out for a run every now and then. Legs don’t cost! There’s no excuse for the avoidance of being physically active.
They don’t have to be. Schools, boys and girls club, park districts often offer free or reduced pricing for low income families. Seek out resources. Call your local park district. Even my local zoo offers summer camp and they’re donors offer scholarships. Also, the park is free. Even most low income families have wifi and at least a device to stream on; there’s dance videos and other things families can do together for free. Be creative and be willing to change yourself for the better of your child. @@livewithmeterandnomeasureb1679
I hope the girl is okay after being body shammed so much.

There's a huge difference between a mother who's worried for their childs health and happiness (if the child is unhappy with their weight) and a mother who wants to live through their child or wants people to think she's some great mom because her daughter is ideal.

Exactly! Like wtf is wrong with these moms?!
Agreed. It's the right thing for the wrong reasoning. People don't want to be shamed for being overweight and of course that is ok. No one should go through that. But to the person who said she doesn't have to worry about it at her age, she is wrong. She should be thinking about getting healthy as soon as possible because it will only get harder later and cause serious health concerns even at a young age. That should be the message, not what someone looks like in a clearly inappropriate dress.

We actually went out to buy a dress for graduation and it was hard. And I don't want it to be hard in the future. But some things the Mum said in this video are inappropriate to say to a child. In the end, my Mum does tell me I need to lose weight among other things, but the good comes with the bad.
Matilda Robertson me too
Peachy Potatoes me too
Peachy Potatoes yeah!
Peachy Potatoes xD
all late! but I'm glad that your mom wants to motivate you to be better but also let you see that you are much more than that. My mom was the same way with me and honestly we need more mom likes that.
My parents and sister bullied me for my weight all my life even though for a while I was actually underweight. Now I'm 37 and overweight and have social phobia because I don't want to be bullied anymore. I fear people and stay inside. My mom wouldn't go to certain malls because they weren't for "people like us" aka fat women. I'm so afraid of people still and it's stressful.
This is genuinely so sad to read, I’m sure a random stranger on the internet won’t make a difference but I urge you to seek mental health resources asap, words carry a lot of pain that people don’t even register when they say them in the moment, especially when those people are your own FAMILY, it’s disgusting to treat anyone that way…but ur own ppls??? Vile behavior, you deserve to live your life and feel good ab yourself, regardless of any trauma/pain you’ve been dealing with, you deserve to love life and I’m sorry awful people went out of their way to spoil that for you.
We are all subjective as human beings, and it isn’t anyones right to make someone feel bad ab the body they have, the only person who should be in charge of your body is you, so don’t live for other people, and don’t stop living for other people either.
aww come here and give me a hug ❤
Take care of yourself, stay healthy and make sure your weight is not unhealthy. As long as this is not the case you shouldn’t be worried.
I can feel the flashbacks coming in

Super Gamer_girl I’m a realist who lives in the real world. Fat people are not attractive or beautiful. They’re the reason the US gets such a bad rap health wise. Gluttonous disgusting beings.
man, this triggered some flashbacks to the days of clothes shopping with grandma. she used to say awful shit to me as a little girl about my weight and appearance and totally skewed my perspective of beauty. 7 years later after recovering from an eating disorder she wants to be all “you’ve always been beautiful” and “i don’t know why you resorted to that, you were fine before”. it boggles my mind how someone can convince themselves the things they said had no effect, but perhaps it’s out of guilt.
sappy i’m so sorry. i’m happy you’ve recovered (physically) even though i’m sure you haven’t recovered mentally. words can truly effect people.
IT can damage the Kid If The parents so IT Wrong. I belive There are good and positive ways to Help and MOTIVATE the Kid to lose weight. And If The Kid ist really overeeight, i think ITS the Job of a Parent to Help the Kid , and Not ihnore it and let the Kid get even more fat.
But Your grandma probably really forgot IT, maybe bcs she didnt think too much Into the Things she Said to You.

If it's for looks than NO ! But if it's for HEALTH than YES
Yesss I agreeee!!
Not if you use the words that mom did that is pure rude right there.
Looks are important, you don't want your kid to lose attractiveness value and then settle for a bad partnership latter on.
@northhyuck yeah but why do you assume a good looking person doesn't have a great personnality.
People will choose the whole package. Why deprive the looks of your child, it s dumb.

I actually started crying when those girls stood up for her like that. I really felt for her because my whole childhood i was chubby and had very low self esteem because of my family. They always told me i was overweight and made fun of me for it. No one ever told me i was beautiful.
I can relate.
You are beautiful, I am a professional photographer for models.
Can I have 5 minutes of your time?
I take pictures for a living, perhaps we could set up a time together to exchange info?

@@borisgopnikov2931 then instead of the mother bringing her down she should slowly encourage her to lose weight in a healthy way which would be great for the long term. It’s not hard :)
@@oink3706 it’s not as easy as telling a kid to eat healthy. Children don’t think about the long term effects of overeating so it’s up to the PARENT to put their child on a strict diet to save them from diabetes, high blood pressure, etc etc.
@@mae-bb7vw obesity is literally causing people to die my dear, dieting is good if it's done in a healthy way. Are you in your 70's?
I used to cheer and was unhealthily skinny for years. It was all because my mom telling/dropping hints to me my whole life that I was over weight, putting me in sports, and just putting me down constantly (I was a perfectly healthy weight for my age and height). And then she would turn around and call me beautiful in public.. People constantly asked me if I was okay and my moms friends worried about me. I eventually quit and don’t talk to her much anymore. The sad part is, I thought it that was a normal mother-daughter relationship. It’s sad because we could’ve had a great relationship. Now of course, it’s my fault that I pushed her away. Body shamming is never okay, especially in children. Let them enjoy life.
When the lady jumped I screamed and jumped out of my chair because I thought she was going to spill her Starbucks on those white ESPENSIVE dresses. ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!!!
That last Mom has me in tears. My parents always pushed me to lose weight. I wish I had a mom like her
Depression made me eat more.
Gaunter O'Dimm nope
Cornberry: good for you, parents need to be sensible about obesity.
@Gaunter O'Dimm not all of them, have you seen these transformations with over weight people and they loose a ton of pounds. Think twice before you write something. It may put people down.
Ure wrong but yes it is harsh when they talk about looks everyday and there is a limit, but if its not for ur family bringing it up, it may just be another day and you wouldnt start exercising. Because of the hate that made u tired of if, u were driven by motivation to exercise.. Its about turning the shit upon u into motivation.. We are never supposed to be vulnerable to their words or whatever... We have to be strong... Maybe Im different because im in a different situation but im not motivated at all and im not overweight.. I live hating myself everyday, and i do try to exercise now and then..
I've been teased or bullied for my weight, the first time I remember I was only 6, in first grade. It doesn't happen that often but when it does, it really hurts. So it's very nice to see these people standing up for that girl.
Imagine being asked to have a role of an overweight kid 😟

There's nothing wrong with encouraging and helping your child to live a healthy lifestyle. There *is* a huge problem with shaming your child, especially to the point where they are uncomfortable and embarrassed. Parents, take note of what the women in the video said and did. This is all coming from a teenager who knows how important it is to have a healthy body image.

Yes, the parents are at fault for resulting in the kid being overweight. So by not shaming the kid, but supporting them in the process to lose weight, they will have a better relationship with health and fitness. So yes, it is necessary to have a healthy weight.

If you want your child to lose weight, you need to change YOUR life style. If you are the parent it’s your responsibility.
Not fat shame them, but bring healthy foods into your household, and encourage healthy behaviors like exercise. Cause chances are, the child is already aware about their body image and doesn’t need to be called out like “Oh you’re so fat”, by their parent figure, or anyone for that matter.
yes they can only eat when you buy
Yeah. If your kids doctors says they need to lose weight then you should work with your child, not against them. Maybe, offer to go on walks with them, or enroll them in a sport. Feed them healthy food and tell them they are beautiful. Don’t fat shame your kids.
so on point
Amen
good job
