    If you're installing this by yourself, be very careful not to let the tailgate slip even a little bit while you have the hinges out. With no support, the passenger side of the tailgate drops easily, and it did in this video. At the end, you can see how in the After picture the right edges of the tailgate are no longer aligned with the body lines. The 4 bolts that Meredith puts in at 16:00 need to be left loose, a second person needs to lift and align the tailgate, then you can tighten them down - those are what you use to adjust the height of the tailgate.
    If the Jeep in this video is left as-is, eventually the bottom right corner of the tailgate is going to dig into the body just beneath it, and you'll have a nice gaping hole in your paint... Ask me how I know.

    FYI for Extreme Terrain and anyone else doing this install. If you look at the body lines, you can see that the gate is not level. The left side sits higher than the right. Same thing happened during my install. When you take off the hinges the right side slips down a bit. You did briefly mention making sure it's level, but you should probably call this out a little better so installers don't have to loosen bolts and go back and level the gate.

    Just installed mine last night and I love the look,the video you made is extremely helpful and I appreciate it. I have everything lined up and tight but mine drops 3/4 of an inch as soon as I open the gate with a 35 on it.

      I just installed one on my parents Jeep with a 37 in tires and there’s dropped a lot for the life of me I could not get it perfect. I ended up putting 1/4 shims on bottom hinge which brought the tail gate up some so once we put tire on it was damn near perfect now

      @@armykid48 getting ready to install this weekend. When you say bottom hinge, do you mean the part that attaches to the tub of the jeep? And where did you get the shims? Are they metal? Thanks.

    • @armykid48
      @armykid48 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bradb.7802 I made the shims my self and yes right we’re the the hinge mounts to the Jeep, I took the oem hinge and traced the shape out and drilled the 3 holes and also while every bolt and nut was loose I lifted up on tail gate while some one tightened it all down

    first, the tailgate on the JL is Magnesium, this is already a super strong and rigid base. unless your running 37s and up, a brace is overkill.

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You're right! The core of the new JL tailgate is magnesium, which does resist any sort of bending or warping better than the JK. I've seen plenty of posts on forums and Facebook though showing their JL's tailgate starting to become misaligned when running heavier 33s or 35s. If you plan on sticking with a lighter 33s or stock tires, a brace like this would definitely be an overkill. I think some sort of bracing would be beneficial once you start looking into anything larger though. -Zach

    Nice video and install.
    Where do you mount the second rubber bump stop for the spare ? That seems critical to keep the spare from moving on the carrier. Tia

    Can you use this tailgate reinforcement with the teraflex 4838910 alpha hd adjustable tire carrier on the Jeep jl that you guys also sell?

    I just installed the whole Spartacus setup and my camera when mounted is off center when I put that casting camera sleeve over it can some one help me on how to center the camera in the casting piece thank you

    Noticed you didn't raise the brake light up, and i'm guessing the spacers used with the bracket push the tire carrier out like a relocation set (ie: rough country) so the relocation bracket isn't needed to carry 35x12.5?

    Does the tire Rattle when offloading. Or for that is better to get the bumper hinge carrier.

    Mounting a 37 12.5 r17 tire on stock 2020 Rubicon wheel will this product alone solve my fitting issue where it hits the bumper or do I need an additional item? I don't see how this would not rattle does it? Please advise as I am in the market

    Isn't it in the same position as stock? Will a 35 or 37 fit in the stock bumper cut out? This does not lift the tire to make the difference in 35 or 37 height difference. Please explain. Thanks so much love the videos.

    400$ bucks wtf thats half the cost of lift. Rather go with bumper mounted tire carrier.

      You must not have priced a new bumper with carrier, as that’s going to be way more expensive, unless you get cheap a Chinese steel one
