When they say there’s no market for original animated films in India, here’s Fisherwoman proving them totally wrong! We definitely have a market for different and unique animation films. You as audiences have proved it yet again as Fisherwoman and Tuk Tuk scores 30 MILLION organic youtube views. This is an unbelievable feat for any film! For all the naysayers who dissuaded us from producing this film with our own funds, those who called it a pointless exercise when taking 6 long years, without a market to support the short, Fisherwoman proved her worth today. There were many heartbreaking rejections for this film but there were equally joyful acceptances at global film festivals including some very prestigious awards from different parts of the world. Over 60 official selections and 25 odd awards including our own National Award garnished its journey, but we were weary and doubtful whether our own audience would accept this film when we put it out on TH-cam 2 years ago. One biggest lesson I have learnt after watching this movie - *Never ignore your dreams even in the lowest of your days, and never get carried away from ground reality after you're successful.*
Yes, never allow the abyss of your pain to drown your dreams. When she got the mechanic to work on her tuk tuk, I was like " No way". When she sat next to it and relieved the good times she had with it, tears fell down my heart. May we all have good times to relive when things go bad.
After watching the climax for many times, i realized the depth of the scene. Even the minute expressions shown by the character at her last moments, just look at her face when she plays the song for the last time, we can see a painful smile on it and also we can see an emotional connection between fisherwomen and her walking stick at the point before she throw it away. Also her love for those cats❤. Iam still wondering how did you guys created such an intense emotional connection in an animated film. The characters were well created. Even the rikshawala in this movie, his sorrow and disappoinment while seeing wisherwomen with a new tuk tuk, that also hits hard. This movie is such a gem. Weighed down by chunky pure gold earrings, no one dared rob them of these. This is a lovely tribute to their 'live on our own terms ' spirit. They are the true liberated females.
The ending was bitter sweet. She knew she can't continue doing anything any longer, can't drive, can't sell fish after getting blind. She fed her 3 cats well and shooed them off before diving off in order for them to live. Idk man I'm like sad but also feeling good. Shoutout to those stretch marks.Loved it.

To me it's meaning was extremely odd. Considering the fact that she left her source of income that was helping her to achieve her goals and to have financial stability, it shows how ignorant and small-minded she was. For sure some might try to justify her actions by naming it death put her and her dreams apart, but people need to be realistic. We are here not to be stubborn with our ignorance. People should thrive to be both successful (achieve their dreams), thankful (realistic), and to see the long term consequences to preserve their achievements. Life is not a dream, we are not children, people need to be realistic.

Everyone here talking about morals of the story... What it taught me is that love doesn't always have to be towards another person. Her biggest dream in life was to drive that tuktuk, and when she realized she couldn't do that anymore, she took her own life. It was very poetic and very beautiful at the end
@@GhostsOfSparta she didn't want to share a tuktuk, she had a dream of her own. I think she could never be fully free or happy if she had to drive with someone else...
@@viiishaaaal It's not even a dark ending, she was quite content with everything she had achieved up to that point and was remembering all the niceness in her life as she rode her tuktuk one last time
The lesson of this animation is something that I have experienced before. I gave up my job, my career, my friends, family, savings, and all my time for someone that I was so obsessed with. Our relationship were obviously broken but I still kept on fixing it. I was blinded by my obsession and it was totally tearing me apart. It’s a one-sided love. It even came to a point when I tried to take my life for it. Never let that happen. Know your priorities. Don’t let a blackhole be the center of your universe. Know your worth and love yourself. 💕
I can relate to everything you said. I am obsessed with this one person . I don't show it but I do everything for him and everything revolves around him . But I am just tired of this . I can't get out of that obsession no matter how much it hurts almost every other day.

There always is someone for whom we are ready to sacrifice everything even our parents but at the end they don't even value our feelings, haha feels so pathetic :)
So very true. We take good things for granted, until they disappear. We take family and friends for granted, until they are gone for good. We take life for granted too, until that is gone. For now, let's make the best and most of everything we have in this life, make time for others too.
My interpretation - The film beautifully captures the internal strife we grapple with when torn between a pragmatic career choice for survival and pursuing our true passions. There's a poignant scene where she recoils from the fish's scent, yet it's the very source of income enabling her to realize her lifelong dream-an auto. It poignantly highlights our selfish inclinations and the diplomatic nature inherent in us. Often, we become so fixated on the end result that we neglect to appreciate and embrace the journey, the present-the profound, tangible gift that far surpasses the illusory past and fanciful future. Today is not just fleeting; it's the genuine, enduring reality we often overlook.
Omg this is gold She didn't hesitate of her body or looks She was happy inside and had a warm personality atlast She earned to live a dream of her life and she dies happily ☺️
Passed on this video several days. Finally took some time to watch this. A wonderful animated short film. I like the way she cared for kitties throughout the story. Her burning desire to get the tuk tuk made it possible. What a story this reminds me of a sad thing. Whenever we enjoy it, then it is safe to think we are going to suffer. Mostly bad things happen after some great enjoyment. Which can takes life into an unpleasant state. This cycle of pleasant and unpleasant reality makes our lives. Without any bumps and pits life could be very boring 😅
How real and touching this was! She is a boisterous, rough lady..strongly independent but has a tender, caring heart..this film doesn't have lot of dialogue but conveyed a powerful message..well done!!!
Making her cats jump out of auto before her last moment was soo awesome. Her life is awesome like all of us. She loves everyone with heart, thats y she gives money to the auto wala and even fishes to the week cat. Wat a animation man. Hats off
Deserves more views anyone can imagine, i think the story says that you can manifest whatever you want you just have to believe in it. This is the best animation i have seen so far. The minds behind this work of art are impeccable.
It's a metaphorical story. A person works hard to pay for his or her dream and end up with one wrong step but dream start taking over by reality and finally dream become life. Life ends by dream
Itnii Sundarr short film hai, muze sach mei rona aa raha hai .. kuchh log kisi cheez se itne jude hote hai, aur unka usper itna pyaar hota hai, ke jaan pe aaye to bhi wo usse hi chahate hai, bhale unki zindagi uss cheez ne kathin kar di ho.. lekin wo log jeena bhi uske saath hi chahate hai aur marna bhi usi ke saath chahate hai This film surely reflects a devoted artist❤
@@dopsheikh464 It was not a happy ending. According to me ending moral can be : Attachment and false belief in something to the point of addiction is catastrophic at the end. Which very well explains the end.
Marvelous story that taught us a lot in 15mins. 1. Nothing is impossible in this world till you want. Whatever happen, just Live your dreams and happiness. Life is unpredictable brother. She lived her life on her terms even she lost her eyes. So Where there is a will, there is a way. 2. She knew that she couldnt drive without eyes for a long time that's why she went without cats. It means if you want to live your life on your terms or being selfish, then try no one shouldn't suffer cause of you. And last but not least 3. Today we indulged so deeply in temporary affection that we can't see other things. She was sad for her auto not for her eyes. She left her job and everthing for her auto only. She has forgetten that without money, she wouldn't enjoy her auto ride for a long time. This is the actual scenario of the present. For us temporary things become more important than any other.
I think the lesson here is "To die with no regrets in achieving success." She really loves her tuktuk, she dreamt about it that's why she was very nanning. I love it.
I loved how they've shown her a cat lover ❤ she doesn't like her tuktuk to be dirty but still takes them everywhere with her but at the last she shoos them away to save them from dying with her 😢 It might be small part but touched my heart. May all people be like mavshi 🎉
People are talking about the "real" and final morale of the story. Haven't you ever heard the phrase " a book read by 1000 people is 1000 different books" The morale is whatever you feel and take from the story
Stating the obvious I see. Ofc everyone knows that! they are just putting forward their point of view? How they perceived the story, Art analysis, that's how people communicate? The short film is there for people to create their povs and share and start a conversation. How else are you gonna know that how others see it? To understand how someone else perceived the same thing as you, one must share it. That's how people augment their spectrum of perception
I caught the story as "Mentally one can build his/her own happiness if he/she is hardly into it" We don't need to understand anything yet we just need to understand ourself and that's enough for a happy life.
I loved the story as well the illustration off Bai....the small details like the strachmarks on her stomach...I am student of applied arts...and for me it is the wonderful to see just work...
Each one of us took some different lesson from this story. My interpretation is this.... The Fisher woman loved to sell fishes (as she in the start, smells the fish and finds the smell beautiful), one day she realises that she really wants a tuktuk in her life and this becomes the desire/craze of her life, she thinks about tuktuk (which symbolises our desires in this world)and one day she finds a pearl in a *fish* and buys a tuktuk, but, she starts liking tuk tuk so much and gets so possessive about it that now when she sees the fish in the tuktuk, she thinks of it as nasty, she leaves everything for tuktuk, and goes into bewilderness i.e into the unknown world with tuktuk but soon she gets into an accident (this can be related to failure or loss) She literally gets blind(and we, metaphorically get blinded by our desires), but this does not stops her and she uses whatever she is left with to relive that happiness, to relive that high .... . She eventually dies with her desires, but even after her death ( as we see in the post credit scene) she's still attached to the craze i.e to the tuktuk.
Neatly explained. I would add that she is kind hearted because she gives money to the tuk tuk wala after purchasing her own tuktuk because she knew his business is going down without her!
Socha nhi tha itni choti short film life main itna bada impact dalega....what a masterpiece........my god ....this saws that life main kuch bhi predictable nhi hota ha....khushiyan milne ke baat bhi life main disaster aa sakta ha ...so that don,t loose your hope ...things happened itself ..
@@rangerover2021 May be you've watched quite a good number of Indian movies featuring a man as a symbol of multitasking like multi-handed god Veerbhadra; A sport team selects only the best performers irrespective of height/weight/gender/being or not being specially abled; woman giving such a damn at people-management and preferring a peaceful familyfree life.. And also hope those movies/soaps having good profit by hurting majority's faith on their naive predictions. But not sure why your appeal sounds like "Please start!"
The film beautifully captures the inner conflict we all experience when balancing the necessity of a career for survival with our genuine aspirations. Unfortunately, many of us end up in professions we don't enjoy due to limited control, especially for those not born into wealth. Yet, there's a flicker of hope that propels us forward-the dream of a brighter future. This struggle is poignantly portrayed in a scene where the protagonist dislikes the smell of fish, the very source of income that fulfills her dream of owning an auto. It serves as a reflection of our self-centered and diplomatic nature. Often, we become so fixated on the end result that we overlook the beauty of the journey-the present, a divine gift that's more tangible and enduring than the idealized past or anticipated future. Today is real, and it's crucial to embrace and appreciate it amidst our aspirations.
The entire life cycle of a person...maturing, earning hard, achieving what one wants and later, dying peacefully, all have been fabulously attributed in this piece of work...beautiful story and background audio. Hats off
That's just awesome Suresh. It's going to be remembered as a timeless classic. Deserves all the accolades it has received! Kudos to you, Nilima and the team.
We tend to get carried away sometimes when our dream turns into reality.. we start taking things for granted (like women in the story took her fishing business for granted) this story for me represents a materialistic society where people tend to forget what they're when they started. We should always remember our beginning and struggle be grounded. The ending also says that irrespective of all the good and bad experience human race can't stop dreaming. My father say- sapne dekhna acchi baat hai par sapne me jeenaa buri baat . Ty
There is an old Vulcan saying; “Having....is not the same thing as wanting”. Another; “Be careful what you wish for.....YOU MIGHT JUST GET IT...!!!” Amazing animation, loved the exceptional detail, warts and all, so to speak. Finally: We all have dreams of what we’d like to have; the realisation of those dreams doesn’t always guarantee eternal happiness. Nonetheless......to dream, is human!
Her day was started from sea for catching fish and end of her life in also sea . But she lived her every day beautifully with working kindness that was awesome 😊
As an Indian animator working in Montreal Canada for a Game developer I just feel so proud o see this . Not only is the short funny and entertaining ..Its quintessentially Indian . The model textures and the colour palette used is reminiscent of old hand drawn movie posters . Ten years back when I was studying animation in India I so much wanted to create something like this , something which would be Indian in every respect and not just an Indianised version of something others did. Thank you guys for making this . Hope you go on to create a full length feature and make the Indian animator community proud .
I watched the whole film without any expression or expectation and at the very end when she started her tuk tuk and went into the ocean. I left out this big laugh with tears in my eyes, thinking of how memories is all we should make despite of how we feel, what our dreams and circumstances are ☺
Indeed many of the time we faced unfavorable moments unwanted things happenned with us.. but God give us strength to bear that we had achieve patience. And. We learned to accept. But with time .. situations become changed God rewarded is blessed us with many of new belongings.. and we got happiness... Our tears convert into happiness... And joy
Moral-: ""Dream Big!! ,But not to the extent of obsession "" But there can be so many morals pointed out from this short film, everyone having different perspective. I think dats the beauty of this short film💙

Everyone here talking about morals of the story... What it taught me is that love doesn't always have to be towards another person. Her biggest dream in life was to drive that tuktuk, and when she realized she couldn't do that anymore, she took her own life. It was very poetic and very beautiful at the end

She could've befriended/married the male tuktuk driver and drove with him rest of her life.

So very true. We take good things for granted, until they disappear. We take family and friends for granted, until they are gone for good. We take life for granted too, until that is gone. For now, let's make the best and most of everything we have in this life, make time for others too.

My interpretation -
The film beautifully captures the internal strife we grapple with when torn between a pragmatic career choice for survival and pursuing our true passions.

@@dopsheikh464 It was not a happy ending. According to me ending moral can be : Attachment and false belief in something to the point of addiction is catastrophic at the end. Which very well explains the end.
Yaa 😩💓
Marvelous story that taught us a lot in 15mins.
1. Nothing is impossible in this world till you want. Whatever happen, just Live your dreams and happiness. Life is unpredictable brother. She lived her life on her terms even she lost her eyes. So Where there is a will, there is a way.
2. She knew that she couldnt drive without eyes for a long time that's why she went without cats. It means if you want to live your life on your terms or being selfish, then try no one shouldn't suffer cause of you.
And last but not least
Wait that's her name
People are talking about the "real" and final morale of the story. Haven't you ever heard the phrase " a book read by 1000 people is 1000 different books" The morale is whatever you feel and take from the story
Stating the obvious I see. Ofc everyone knows that! they are just putting forward their point of view? How they perceived the story, Art analysis, that's how people communicate? The short film is there for people to create their povs and share and start a conversation. How else are you gonna know that how others see it? To understand how someone else perceived the same thing as you, one must share it. That's how people augment their spectrum of perception
wrong, this thing has a specific moral not a lot, SO STFU
Moral for me never buy a tuktuk.
@@hanznix2200 you're right the author meant a *specific* meaning to this

Njan ethin addict aayii.... 😪i love this animation 😚😚
When your dreams fulfilled you are the most happiest person whether it's small or big .I literally felt when she touches her broken tuk tuk 😪
Each one of us took some different lesson from this story. My interpretation is this....
The Fisher woman loved to sell fishes (as she in the start, smells the fish and finds the smell beautiful), one day she realises that she really wants a tuktuk in her life and this becomes the desire/craze of her life, she thinks about tuktuk (which symbolises our desires in this world)and one day she finds a pearl in a *fish* and buys a tuktuk, but, she starts liking tuk tuk so much and gets so possessive about it that now when she sees the fish in the tuktuk, she thinks of it as nasty, she leaves everything for tuktuk, and goes into bewilderness i.e into the unknown world with tuktuk but soon she gets into an accident (this can be related to failure or loss)
She literally gets blind(and we, metaphorically get blinded by our desires), but this does not stops her and she uses whatever she is left with to relive that happiness, to relive that high .... . She eventually dies with her desires, but even after her death ( as we see in the post credit scene) she's still attached to the craze i.e to the tuktuk.
Bewilderness❤
Neatly explained. I would add that she is kind hearted because she gives money to the tuk tuk wala after purchasing her own tuktuk because she knew his business is going down without her!
But that suicide thing, nah man, disappointed at the ending... 😤
It's not suicide, it's dying for your love. And love could be with anything.

Simplicity that has been missing from most of the artworks now...so relatable and slice of life
