Honestly about 400-1500 depending on how bad it is and if the customer wants me to make it perfect to where it looks factory then I would do it wayyy different then I did here! So just depends on the customer and how much they want to spend!
Ziebart is the worst decision you can make. Living in Canada, your gonna trap humidity and moisture between those layers and 5 years later that daily driven brand new truck is going to need a brand new frame and floors.
So you never had it Ziebart applied. My ny car is going on nine years and no rust yet. It’s inspected and touched up every year. Maybe Ziebart is banned in Canada.
Flat stock on the bottom works well, but you should weld some up, heat it and bend it to follow the frame and repeat. I hate seeing 6 pieces when it can be one continuous piece. But hey, to each their own, if the customer is happy, who cares...

Hey I’m just wondering how much did you charge for that or is it a personal truck because my Silverado looks that bad and I’ve been thinking about transferring it to a new frame but I don’t know what to do if you have any opinions let me know
Soo, it really depends on the shop and their rates, but something like this to be fixed should cost around $400-600 depending on how bad it is because I dropped the gas tank to fix the driver side! But if you look in the comments, this guy showed me a new way to fix them to make it even stronger than how I did this one!
$500-$1500 depending on how close to original vs just making it structurally sound! So extra fab work means more cost and labor for original look, while cheaper means same quality just looks dont matter just making it safe and stronger!
@@mr.goodolboys I feel like you could have definitely charge more. I do frame repair myself I would have charged $2500 not to many people will even do it anymore
Who do ask for to do rust repairs buddy??? I got an 08 as well it doesn’t look that bad but maybe it is?? Do i ask collision repair shops or mechanics? A used frame cost me $750 plus $700-$1000 labor for mechanic to do it for me i was wondering if frame repairing like you did here would be cheaper?
Not all chevys are this bad, but most of them definitely have the typical rust starting in the back frame....but I'd find a shop that could just put some patches over the holes if it's starting!
Yes, true. But also the cost is more in the long run to do a swap and also you need a shop with enough space for that...which unfortunately until we do our renovation and expand our shop I will still consider fixing the current frame and making it stronger! And doing a swap on a Wisconsin truck.... lmao you will be fighting every single nut and bolt you have to take off here in the rust belt the torch is your best friend!!! 👌
In a perfect world yes by all means! However not everyone can afford that type of work! The customer just wanted it safer and covered up so it wouldn't progress more swissssss cheeessseeee lol
Lmao, not in Wisconsin! If it was that easy then all vehicle sold here would have MORE drian holes! Because little do you know there are holes in the frame for water to run! But still with holes the salt still fucks are vehicles up!
It varies on how bad it is usually, but anywhere from $700-1500, depending on how original you want it to look. Or looks dont both you and all you want is structural integrity back!
$400-$1000 depending on how good the fabricator is! Maybe more is you want it close to original looking while making it structural stronger in the process I also have a new way of doing these so wait till another one rolls in the shop! 🤘🤠🤘
You got a number or email I can send pictures of my 07? I’m about 4 hours away in Michigan and debated doing it myself but not sure I trust a flux core welder from hobo freight 😂
Lmao 😂 agreed, and yes, call our shop Abc automotive and tire, located in West Allis, WI. Then we can exchange cell numbers so I can see what we're working with!
$500-$1000 depending on doing both sides and also the price could go up on the job if you want it to look closer to original! But if looks dont matter to you just strength then around $400-$800
"Common" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 this truck has or had the square GM badge on the front fenders doesn't it? I got a 1999 with absolutely no rust. Not even on the cross member over the fuel tank
No, it doesn't have that badge, but yeah, I've seen soooo many of these! Hate salt with a passion, especially in the Midwest jobs are 10 times harder 🤷
To anyone who doesn't know about the square GM badge......... this badge was put on during a bad time for GM they were struggling to stay afloat so they started pumping cheaper products. Some people started calling it the "Government motors" badge as they were getting funding from our government to help them. Either way I believe they got this badge in 06ish, around the time they put the AFM in these trucks. Overall the quality of the vehicles with the square silver GM badge beside the vehicle logo is not up to par. I've seen so many rust and pretty much all them have AFM issues.
West Allis, WI and my shop is called Abc automotive and tire. And please call in advance and schedule because currently I'm playing ketchup 🤣 and have a few big jobs lined up!
Yep but in our state they allow it as long as you're fix does not chang the alignment!! Before I even started doing jobs like this I had to make sure of our statute of limitations WI so we would get any backlash from these jobs! So alway always do your homework before you jump into a job like this!
I like using fluid film once a year before winter or rhino line the frame along with washing your vehicle at least 3 times a month durning winter! I wash mine once a week lol 🤠
Rust never sleeps. Send it to the crusher asap. Where in the hell do you live? We just don’t see that down here where there is no border crises. You got snow, ice, and salt. We are being invaded. Seems fair.
So you caped off the rot. You do realize 5 minutes with a cut off a wheel and you could have eliminated the rot. The frame is still rotting underneath your scrap metal band aid. It’s gonna rot all the way up to welds and the piece you put on will fall if In 2 years. I see it all day will Toyotas.
You do realize it'd be more then 5 minutes and you would find yourself cutting the whole frame out since the whole frame is rusting genius....seriously if you dont do metal work or any metal repairs then maybe you should start because you would learn why I do IT MY WAY and not your way.....
@Mr.GoodOl'Boys I bought a 85 k20 a while back. It was going to be a daily/ winter truck. The frame was terrible. Even those up north are getting terrible. But at least those are 40 to 50 years old now.

I can not remember bubba!
@@mr.goodolboys ok what would you charge these days . I'm in the same exact situation. dam frame rot . I'm removing the bed today and taking closer look. thanks buddy
Nice and around $1000-$2500 and up depending how bad it is but price could go up more if they want a clean factory look as well...cuz now I use 4x4 square stock and cut one side off and box the frame rail in!!

Did you put new metal over the old stuff?
Hey I’m just wondering how much did you charge for that or is it a personal truck because my Silverado looks that bad and I’ve been thinking about transferring it to a new frame but I don’t know what to do if you have any opinions let me know
Soo, it really depends on the shop and their rates, but something like this to be fixed should cost around $400-600 depending on how bad it is because I dropped the gas tank to fix the driver side! But if you look in the comments, this guy showed me a new way to fix them to make it even stronger than how I did this one!
Also I'm not to sure where you live but if your in the Milwaukee area in Wisconsin my shop does this type of fab work!
How much do you charge for something like this?
But it still has the rust its just going to keep rusting isnt it
I need mine done .. where you located ?

No, but we are neighbors, Bubba. I'm in Milwaukee, WI
How much do y’all charge?
Honestly, it depends on how bad it is, but you can always call the shop to get an estimate after you send us some pictures!
Do you start with bottom plate or side
What does this usually cost?

Could swap frames ?
Why don't these companies add some rubber coating from the factory so it doesn't get that bad.
The sad part is that the frame is coated inside and out! And the damn thing still fricken rusted!
Some years of gmc and chev got a wax / tar like spray ... not sure exactly what .... the ford's rust way worse ..
Agreed and either way the only way to help prevent rust is really just getting a car wash at least twice a week!
Is that one of those GM frames that were wax-coated instead of painted
@@neilbrown82 hmmm it was coated, just hard tell what type for the fact I was blowing out soo much rust!!
What does work like this cost?
Around $1500-$2500
1/4 plate? it should be safe on a 4 post
When did be better just to replace the frame just asking
In a perfect world yes by all means! However not everyone can afford that type of work! The customer just wanted it safer and covered up so it wouldn't progress more swissssss cheeessseeee lol
Drain holes would of saved all that
Lmao, not in Wisconsin! If it was that easy then all vehicle sold here would have MORE drian holes! Because little do you know there are holes in the frame for water to run! But still with holes the salt still fucks are vehicles up!
What size steel did you use???
Wow where are you located
Good Ol Wisconsin, Bubba! Gotta love the rust belt!
What do you charge for something like that?
It varies on how bad it is usually, but anywhere from $700-1500, depending on how original you want it to look. Or looks dont both you and all you want is structural integrity back!
How much would a repair like this cost
How much did you charge
How much does something like this cost?
Lol you can tell people don’t live In the rusty areas
My main tool I used is a torch 🤣 I wish I knew what life would be like without corrosion or heavy rust!!
Yea no shit This is common in the midwest thing is most dont know
Where is You shop?

I'm all about repairing but, that is a prime example of beyond economical repair... unless you work for 5 bucks an hour. If so, I need your number.
How much does a job like this cost?
$400-$1000 and could go up in price if someone wanted it showroom/OEM look but for a easy and cheaper route this should be plenty
How much u charge me for the same job
$500-$1000 depending on doing both sides and also the price could go up on the job if you want it to look closer to original! But if looks dont matter to you just strength then around $400-$800
Where u located
Same truck almost as bad. The driver side has some kind of piece from the front wheel to about between the bed and back wheel. But id want it all done
I'm in West Allis, WI and the shop is called Abc automotive and tire!
okay if your in the area give the shop a call on monday, and we can get you scheduled in bubba!!
Just watched the video again...... it definitely has the badge of honor🤣🤣
I wanna say that badge was used until 2012 or 13
is it lol well, good sir, I stand corrected 🤣 that's great!!!
I need you to do mine where you located
West Allis, WI and my shop is called Abc automotive and tire. And please call in advance and schedule because currently I'm playing ketchup 🤣 and have a few big jobs lined up!
Can of rustoleum should do the trick 😁
Once the frame is rusted, time for a new (truck or frame). Fixing something like that is just the loss of life waiting to happen on either side.
Not true, 90% of the trucks in the rust belt are patched. Done right, they last. They will continue to rot but it will hold.
Damn right bubba! Fix em keep on truckin 💪🤠🤘
Instead of line x the bed when u buy a truck there linex the frame
I'll just never understand how people let their undercarriage get this bad. WASH YOUR CAR!!! Especially in the winter.
@@FWJosh43 fucking facts bubba
Some U.S. states don't allow repairs like that.
Yep but in our state they allow it as long as you're fix does not chang the alignment!! Before I even started doing jobs like this I had to make sure of our statute of limitations WI so we would get any backlash from these jobs! So alway always do your homework before you jump into a job like this!
Ha! That’s nothing! You should see my 08! Or what you can see through it I should say…
Fuckin Mint!!!
Yooooo that avalanche is bitchin!! Is that yours bubba??
Anyone in maryland that can repair a 2013 z71 crew cab . Rust is the same as the video here
Sweet
Mint? Cmon now bro
Right my bad is fricken mint! 💪🤠🤘
There’s gonna be a better way to keep the undercarriage from resting up like that from the salt rust belt
I dont know why they just dont spray rubber coating on it.
Yes a proper yearly application of wool wax will stop 99% of rust from happening
I like using fluid film once a year before winter or rhino line the frame along with washing your vehicle at least 3 times a month durning winter! I wash mine once a week lol 🤠
You have to be kidding !!! Setting your ass up to be sued buddy.
🤷 well sorry but get paid hourly and can't tell the boss no when the customer asked for it 🤦so don't believe I am bubba 😉 thank you for your concern
Rust never sleeps. Send it to the crusher asap. Where in the hell do you live? We just don’t see that down here where there is no border crises. You got snow, ice, and salt. We are being invaded. Seems fair.
Shoeee weee lol, but I live in Wisconsin Bubba! And if this country keeps going the way it does, we might be in the same boat!!
Not gonna happen that frame is toast can weld rust
So you caped off the rot. You do realize 5 minutes with a cut off a wheel and you could have eliminated the rot. The frame is still rotting underneath your scrap metal band aid. It’s gonna rot all the way up to welds and the piece you put on will fall if In 2 years. I see it all day will Toyotas.
You do realize it'd be more then 5 minutes and you would find yourself cutting the whole frame out since the whole frame is rusting genius....seriously if you dont do metal work or any metal repairs then maybe you should start because you would learn why I do IT MY WAY and not your way.....
Problem cheaper to frame swap
Send it to the crusher
Ha! Silver-rot-do!
Lmao 🤣
funny when I was looking for a used truck all brands has this same problem
@@kennethlaw9830 yeah its sad now a days but that is why I drive a 89 k5 lmao 💪🤠🤘
@Mr.GoodOl'Boys I bought a 85 k20 a while back. It was going to be a daily/ winter truck. The frame was terrible. Even those up north are getting terrible. But at least those are 40 to 50 years old now.
My God
Lol, and this one is not even the worst one I have fixed either! Check out some of my other shorts! There are some really nasty ones I saved and made whyyyyy stronger!
