Loved my cb400 sf. Great bike with a fantastic engine. Fitted Staintune exhaust which really improved things. Used it for medium and long distance riding. The standard seat becomes really uncomfortable for touring. Good for riding but then you just have to get off. A good aftermarket would help.

I love the bike but agree on the comment on the seat. I even had the foam under the leather swapped out for a gel to improve the comfort but my coccyx still gets sore after about 90-129 minutes of riding.

Great review, thanks mate. And local! Healesville here. I'm looking at one of these, and its great to hear cruise around when its not screaming the whole time. Although I love that its capable if necessary, or if you want to have some fun with it. I'm looking at one of these next week as a first bike. I'm hoping the power of these will keep me amused years beyond the 3 years restrictions!

    Mine is RED and BLUE.
The previous owner put white lines on it, and also some stars, so its had a USA / General Lee kind of look to it, that I really did like, however, I kepot it under a folding cover and the wind took it and fuel leaked over it, so the stars and the white lines kind of got ruined as has the blue lower part of the paint job.
That said, it was originally red and the red paint is untouched, and I was going to have it re-sprayed in the full red again, but looking at this.. It looks quite delicious all in white.
I might now consider a white paint job instead!
I mean... Its only the mudguard, tank and back end thats actually got any colour... The rest is black or metal.
    Hmm....
Ok, after watching the video... Thatbike sounds far, far too quiet. My Fazer 600 is almost silent and while its nice being so quiet, and at 7000 RPM, its absolutely silent, so much so, that I can hear myself breathing in the helmet, the 400 hasa howl that makes it what it is... a Seriously fun scratcher... Especially under the local tunnel, it sounds like an F1 car and I love that.
Oh, and mine is a Carbed NON VTEC 1995 model. NC23 in an NC31 Frame.

A great bike I'm still on my restricted license and have just moved from a Honda VTR250 to a CB400SF as my second bike. I love it!!!

    Great review, LMC!
I'm 6' 1" and wondered whether this bike would feel a little cramped. Could you tell me your thoughts on this and how tall you are please?

Uses dual overhead cams, small boar cams for low rev usage and when it hit 6500rpm the larger boar cams kick in.

i wish honda used this type of styling for the CB500F, classic and modern at the same time. and more easy to convert it into a Cafe Racer

+ripmax333 Why not just get the 400SF then? Do you prefer the twin?

    • @ripmax333
      @ripmax333 8 ปีที่แล้ว

we don't get the CB400 anymore here, i think they stopped to import them in europe. but back then they were very popular for learning schools. i think 80% of the riders here they all started with a cb400 now they i getting a bit rare on the streets, it is more of a collectors item now

+ripmax333 Ah okay, I see. The 400SF is ubiquitous here in Melbourne
