The Brett Hart Steve Austin rivalry was one of my favorite times in wrestling. These guys always had me on my feet screaming at the tv and so excited for Monday night.
Awesome rivalry 👍👍🔥🔥 2 great wrestlers coming together to produce AWESOMENESS!!! I wish they would have fought when Steve really came into his own...around 98.... Screwjob messed up a lot 😞😞
What else to expect when you take two talented people who took the fans enjoyment seriously and ring generals with the proper psychology, fantastic matches and careers
For me austin vs hart at wrestlemania 13 was the pinicle of wrestling and wwf I don't think that match has ever been bettered the story telling ,the action in the ring , the double turn it had it all ..I truly do miss that time in wrestling
Have you heard Bret talking about the x rated cartoons he used to draw in his dressing room? Such a funny story and his art is actually pretty cool, I think some of his work even made it into his book
Bret Hart is a class act. To me, one of the few cases where someone who loses still gets put over and it proves that he is one of the best minds in the business
@@EdmundKempersDartboardBret Hart has never once said a single bad thing about Austin. No one would even know Steve's name if not for Bret, it was Bret who made Vince hire Austin in the first place. Vince initially passed on Steve until bret stood up for him. Same goes for Rock.
I miss this podcast so much. I understand why Steve doesn’t do it anymore. By the end of its run, he had interviewed about everybody who had ever been in the business. But I loved the ones where he was just bull****ing into the mic solo or with his wife or Ted Fowler.
@@nicholasvertucci2054agreed, Bret absolutely made Austin but he didn't need Austin. He put him over because he saw the potential in Steve. Bret didn't need anyone, his talent as one of the best technical wrestlers speaks for itself.
It's a shame that WWE continue to censor Bret. Everybody knows he was the best worker of all time -- he broke Stone Cold, and Austin elevated the business beyond dizzying heights despite the loss of kayfabe.
I love how Steve was genuinely surprised about how decent the weather was over there 🤣 he a real Texan fr. All Texans think it's cold then a sumbitch over there even during the summer 🤣😂
I've watched this podcast multiple times there's never any flaws with Bret Hart he is the best there is the best there was and the best there will ever be he never wasted an emotion in the ring he's the greatest f*** Ric Flair
He's one of the worst draws in wrestling history. In fact he was the lowest drawing WWF Champion from 1992 until 2001 and still holds the distinction of having main evented the lowest drawing WWF PPV of all time.
Well that's not really fair to put that on bret ..the whole business was down at that time 1992- 96...hogan and a lot of other talent had left wwf ...the steroid and assault scandals happened ..at that time there was only a couple of people that could have carried the big belt bret hart , randy savage ,Rick flair that was about it ..I thought bret done a great job as champ at that time considering who and what he had to work with
@@ShadowAngel-lt8nwthat's not even remotely true, he may not have been a massive draw in the US but he absolutely was the most popular wrestler worldwide, the world loved Bret Hart and even if you don't like him you have to be delusional not to admit he's one of the best technical wrestlers of all time. Fk the Oldbergs and Hogan's of wrestling, I'll take the guys who actually have talent in the ring over the posers who hadn't the first clue what they were doing.
I think I figured out it was a work pretty early in my fandom . I knew it was predetermined but I liked that it took itself seriously and committed to convincing people the tension was real . I liked that winning and losing really seemed to matter . Credibility has been sacrificed to attract people who did not care for wrestling before . I was replaced by 8 year olds and the family that tagged along to the show . I went to the sporting event . I bought 1 ticket , The 8 year olds family bought 4 or more then chachkis and keepsakes . I cannot compete with that . To me , wrestling died in 1987 .It just took me longer to give up hope on its return .
Two best Bret rivals were Shawn and Steve, and Steve was so transcendental he didn't wrestle Steve as much as Shawn but that feud meant so much to both men
That feud meant so much to the entire industry. That’s what really made Steve Austin. And if Austin isn’t a clear cut headliner, the late 90s look a lot different.
Of course he does, Bret made Austin. He never would have made it to WWF without Bret, Vince passed on Austin initially and only signed him up after Bret told him he made a huge mistake not snapping hum up.
You know what's funny? Every episode always gives tips to the editor to trim something out, this one included, I just heard him, and the editor never edits it out.
Man I miss those days of the wwf (not wwe) Monday night raw was great, today there is just too much going on with it there's raw that is it's own thing then smackdown then this and that. Whatever happened to one champion and then the titles below.
Flair, Shawn, Bret and Benoit are known for getting a great match put of Anyone. Steamboat was right up there with them . He had great matches with Austin and Lex in WCW (EB)
You know why I personally think Brett Hart was so good in his time, he got the product right on the money because of his age if you can follow what I'm trying to say.
When someone says Kayfabe I instantly go to Bret and Undertaker, neither one ever broke Kayfabe. People like to complain about Taker not doing the spinaroonie but I respect him all the more for staying true to his character.
I always knew it was predetermined. There were time's that I thought oh these guys got a real beef. Or that had to hurt. Those were the wrestlers, the Valentines, steamboats, Macho and Hart all making it look as real as possible. Sorry Steve only fruit for breakfast in this house lol
I wish that you guys would do longer episodes again I feel like now every week Renee goes for running out of time in the super chat stop I feel like they come in surges and waves when they cut the show early I feel like that other group of fans who used to ask questions doesn't get to as much I'm only saying that because I'm in that other group
After listening to Bret on a lot of different pocasts/interviews, especially this one in particular, he seems to have a hard time being conversational and connecting with the flow of conversation. Every time he answers a question its like he's giving a lecture and sometimes it has no connection to the question he was asked or the story that Steve was telling. It's hard for me to listen to because it doesn't feel like a natural conversation. Just an observation I had but anyway Hitman was my idol when I was a kid and he's still my favorite wrestler of all time. He took his job so serious he was more of a method actor that could actually wrestle. He made his character seem so real you could just get lost in the promo or the match. Steve ended up being the same way. Two of the all time greats right here
@rachelwilliams6929 Yeah, that could absolutely be the case. That's what immediately came to mind. On the other hand I know people like this that haven't had any concussions or strokes. I have a friend that's just like this and it's just because he's one of those people that's constantly in his own head. Conversations with him are normally very one sided because he doesn't even listen when you're talking because he's either thinking about what he's going to say next or thinking about something else. It used to piss me off but now I know he can't even help it. That's just the way his brain functions
I was 14 when the Hart/Austin rivalry was going on and that was the one fued that made me switch from Nitro to Raw. I just wish Bret stayed in WWE. A fued with Vince and Bret in 98 would of been epic.

Austin and Hart was my favorite rivarly. Seemed so real.. Hart certainly helped Steve along bigtime
I agree. Steve Austin is my favorite of all time and that Hart Austin rivalry was absolutely legendary.
They had 2 amazing PPV matches, classics. They didn't need a year long feud to get them over

That's hilarious with Owen impersonating Reg Park on the phone. We've all got a story of someone doing that to a friend/loved one.
