Full Moon is probably the song which pulled me into the world of heavy metal. I have great memories about that time :) btw Jani is now playing with Insomnium which is one of my favorite bands today...somehow the circle is closing almost two decades later ^^

Gotta second this! As a side note: I remember cursing the world when Jani left the band (for his Finnish army service iirc). Even though my taste has shifted towards the heavier stuff I still cherish all the Sonata stuff I always loved since discovering heavier music!
Insomnium is top1 for me for years, and Jani has been the perfect addition to the band!

The guitar player of this band is absolutely talented , great technique and is really the reason this band sounds the way it is , you can tell the big difference when you hear them live. I would say top guitar player in this genre , fantastic technic and very tight playing

I think a really underrated song by them that I don't hear many people talk about, that to me personally, is one of their absolute best is "The Ruins of My Life". I think it hits that really nice speed metal sound, but also having a lot of moments of reflection and softer melody. I also just love the meaning behind it and the chorus.

The first time I heard Wolf and Raven I couldn’t process what he was saying and I thought he was singing in Finnish! 😂 Love this band in all eras. They’re super creative and Tony’s lyrics and melodies are always really nice. Less speedy these days but their music is still powerful.

The line about the wolf eating the raven is derived from a natural occurrence of ravens hanging around wolves on hunts(or something like that, I read this in a book like 20 years ago), wherein the two seem accustomed to each other's company. So the "nightmare" is that harmony being dashed or perverted.

The second Victoria's Secret keyboards solo (26:05) was written and originally performed in studio by Jens Johansson of Stratovarius. That's why it differs in this version.

Really good picks for that video! Sonata Arctica used to be my favorite band of all times, but they slowly lost the hand after Jani left the band, in my opinion.. You can feel the difference in the sound after Unia. I mean, they still have some awesome songs after that, but its kinda harder and harder for me to keep listening to their songs, to the point i dont want to hear the new albums. I dont wanna destroy that good feeling that their old stuff brings to me. For me, Tony and Jani were the perfect mix, the first bringing the melody and the second the "metal". By the way, Jani has two great side projects, the first being Cain's Offering, where he collaborate with Timo Kotipelto from Stratovarius (Morpheus in a masquerade is a nice song to start haha) and latter he did a project with Anette Olzon (ex-Nightwish) called The Dark Element.

There has always occurred a reason why the members have changed in the band, whether it has been changes in personal life or losing motivation. When they went into more progressive style with "Unia" album, they stated in several interviews that they needed to go there or lose interest to the band while stuck in a pigeonhole.

First of all great song choices Anamaria. Obviously the band has much more to offer but all of those are pretty perfect. Fingers crossed we get an Episode 2 of Sonata Arctica (Maybe with White Pearl, Black Ocean :).
My first experience with Sonata Arctica was at Wacken Open Air in 2003 when they played an amazing setlist during night time und clear sky. Pretty epic moment, so that's a very fond memory of my early adulthood.
I personally would've liked if Michael elaborated a bit more what he liked and disliked in this Video. He was a bit silent in this one. For me a big part of the appeal of reaction videos is the elaboration of what connected and what doesn't work for each reactor.
On a suggestive note, I'd recommend Michael to checkout: Twilightning - Delirium Veil. Another finnish album from 2003, but quite different power metal. I think you'll like that.
And for Anamaria, I think you'd enjoy Timeless Miracle - Curse of the Werewolf (from Sweden). I think they fit right in with the wolf theme. :)
    Best regards,
    Florian

On my case I will choice a little bit different , for sure Full Moon they play always.
But I will change Wolf and Raven for Black Sheep live version on Songs of Silence - Live in Tokyo the keys there is Mikko Härkin together with Jani make one of the perfect duo and Victoria's Secret the album version the Jens Johansson solo is mandatory, also the video of live is with the current formation with Elias Viljanen on the guitar.
I saw live Sonata Arctica already 4 time, back on the day with Jani y also with current formation, last time I saw Sonata was 2019 on a festival, they play some of the old ones but in general was not good show, except Black sheep or Full moon they lost a lot of brightness after Jani left.
In my case I love song like Paid in full for Unia, Power of One, the End of this chapter, The cage, Don't say a word, they have so much memorable song is impossible put all.
After Jani Left he found also the Super Group Cain's Offering with Timo Kotipelto from Stratovarius, on his first album key was the ex Sonata Arctica Mikko Härkin, second Album was with jens on the keys.

As you get older your priorities change. Why would grown men in their 40's sing about 20 yr old concerns?? Tony is 46 do you really expect him to do the same thing he did 25 yrs ago??
    Are you actually that dense??

@ Neece LoneWolf : So the rules are apparently that if you like something you're allowed to talk about it; but if you don't, you're suddenly not allowed to talk about it? Seems a little one-sided. Sorry if Sonata Arctica is your sacred cow or something, but there's nothing wrong with what these two discussed. They also didn't say anything regarding the band's priorities or what they "expect" SA to do, so that's a strawman to begin with. If differing opinions or critiques are something you're unable to deal with, then that's unfortunately more of a _you_ problem, and is something you should sort out before venturing into reaction videos.
