Hey. I love your videos. Very informative. I thought I'd share my perspective on the fan axe. My Specialty is the ancient world, mainly ancient Greece during the classic and hellenistic but I do step into other cutlures. One of those being ancient Egypt. From all my years of studying egypt I have not found one reference to a "fan axe" There was a two handed axe they used in warfare and we have finds as well as in period depictions of them. And all the supposed in period depictins I've seen are merely warn down or misidenified depictions of ancient fans. Especially when they are shown along side soldiers people often think they are just another soldier carrying a weapon when what they are is simply... a fan boy. I imagine that at some point for a movie or game someone was looking for cool egyptian weapons, saw what they thought was a cool looking axe and made it so. As far as my research and opinion based on those factors is concerned. I don't believe it ever existed. I personally am disapointed they didn't go for shield and Khopesh or just the Khopesh on it's own since it was a status symbol of egypt or even they're version of a club. I personally wish there was some more representation of weapons from the ancient world. But that's just my thoughts on it.
You see, I see a people talking about maybe we can get a Greek hero but the problem is Valkyrie kinda... Fucked that cause she basically has the spear and shield thing down.... I mean if they brought a Spartan (or to be less faction specific they can use "Hoplites") Ubisoft would have to make a completely different move set for a spear and shield hero. Which isn't impossible but isn't easy either since practically Valkyrie already uses most Spear wielding combat techniques.
I feel like one of the main ways to make a Hoplite hero different from Valkyrie is to make him a Heavy: Somewhat slow, lots of health, and high damage. We haven't had a new Heavy character since Jiang Jun back in Marching Fire, and it's easy to differentiate a Heavy "Hoplite" from Valkyrie's class of Hybrid. Greco-Roman armor, bronze shield, spear, and a ton of bulk ready to annihilate his opponents with a level of brutality rivaling even Centurion, which could present the Hoplites as perhaps rivals or even mentors to the Centurions. No clue what the main gimmick would be for this guy. That's just how I view it, though.
@@dragonbornexpress5650 Hm…yeah that would definitely make a Hoplite more unique. Heck, maybe he could also have a second weapon like a Kopis or Xiphos that he can switch with to make his game play a bit more unique?
@@mkdemigodzillawarrior. Perhaps, but, like I said, no clue what the main gimmick would be. Gotta be careful when mentioning the swords, though. Edit: The Kopis easily looks the most unique compared to the Xiphos, and is the most likely option for a Greek sword anyway because of, well, how unique it is. Apparently the design meant it could have swinging momentum comparable to an axe while still being a sword and therefore capable of stabbing, though it was also apparently a weapon more recommended for mounted combat rather than on foot. Turns out the Kopis also has much less representation compared to the Xiphos, though. Either way, mostly a backup weapon, especially the Xiphos.
Yooo imagine if we got a Zulu warrior , some type of three musketeers type hero with a fencing rapier , and a Native American warrior , or maybe even a Aztec warrior

Hey Raven, curious on what you think on the fact that according to the Event Orders, the Medjay are in the present and are neutral to all the conflicts going on.....what do you think about that? @@RavenKnightYT since Ubisoft kinda took us to egypt and a few thing tip me off to believe a hero will be like the assassin from assassin creed, it’s very accurate cause he’s actually a outlaw who fights to save peoples, and for honor do have a outlander faction🤓
A Kopesh (or 2) would have been more practical than the Fan-Axe thingie. Especially for the "dual wielding" that happens. Imagine the executions with a scythe-like/curved weapon on your enemies.
Well we already have plenty of dual wielders. I think what they’re doing with the Outlanders is really trying to get crazy with their weapons. Just to highlight how literally out there they are.
0:19 yeah actually mostly before christ, they had civilization that was noteworthy even at 3000bc. No racism or anything but where were the simites back then huh?

I dont have much to say other than I love the history. I wouldn't have even cared until the medjay thing came up. me and a buddy wanted to a joke duo with the whitest medjay and darkest raider. we cant now and it's just akward. to try and "protect ones cultural color washing" seems messed up when that principle is applied one way. hell, the american side of my family is mixed making me about 14% when we did an ancestry test. so technically why can't I make a light medjay to compliment my lived experience? I'm not serious on the last sentence as far as honoring it. my point is opens the door for a ridiculous amount of bs. we should point that finger at ubisoft.
I thought Raven brought it up because he thinks slanderous has a point. Watch his other videos and raven mentions he at least finds it a bit odd that African heros get preferential treatment. But a Black Viking is totally historical. Everything thing I have seen from Raven suggests he thinks Slanderous has a point. Its just a Can of Worms he doesn't really want to get into.
I'm not digging at Slanderous. In fact, I agree with him to a certain extent. I don't think it's racist what Ubisoft did with his skin, but I do think it's a double standard and inconsistent. If they only did it for historical accuracy, then why don't the other characters get the same treatment. I agree 100% with that. I only bring up Slanderous because HIS video was the one released that mentions this and talks about it. I am not attacking him or saying he's wrong. At no point do I say that I think he's wrong.
Spear and sword switching?
Yooo imagine if we got a Zulu warrior , some type of three musketeers type hero with a fencing rapier , and a Native American warrior , or maybe even a Aztec warrior
The new hero is probs Aztec
I wish he had a Khopesh or Shotel
great discussion video bud
i just hope they someday add a arabian faction, native americas faction (comanche, aztec, mayan, mohawk, etc), as well as pacifican islanders (maori, hawaiian, etc), mongol characters & more african characters like a zulu warrior
In the word Ptolemaic, the P is silent.
Hey Raven, curious on what you think on the fact that according to the Event Orders, the Medjay are in the present and are neutral to all the conflicts going on.....what do you think about that? Given the lore we have about Chimera and Horkos it feels like they should be joining Chimera if any faction.
I said my thoughts on that in my 'Let's Talk About the Medjay' video. I feel like Ubisoft is trying too hard to make them morally altruistic.
Any idea on for honor upcoming hero is there any website that can show they type of heroes that might come
I don't have a website to prove it, but I do have a theory. I think the next hero will be a female locked Aztec warrior.
@@RavenKnightYT since Ubisoft kinda took us to egypt and a few thing tip me off to believe a hero will be like the assassin from assassin creed, it’s very accurate cause he’s actually a outlaw who fights to save peoples, and for honor do have a outlander faction🤓
A khopesh hero would be interestinf
A Kopesh (or 2) would have been more practical than the Fan-Axe thingie. Especially for the "dual wielding" that happens. Imagine the executions with a scythe-like/curved weapon on your enemies.
Well we already have plenty of dual wielders. I think what they’re doing with the Outlanders is really trying to get crazy with their weapons. Just to highlight how literally out there they are.
One of the most interesant vid of your channel
We know about OUR history well. Our goal is to revitalize the history of our Warrior's. They were as famous as the Navy SEALS and Army Rangers.
Music in meme montage pls ?
0:19 yeah actually mostly before christ, they had civilization that was noteworthy even at 3000bc. No racism or anything but where were the simites back then huh?
The semites could’ve been a large nomadic group near Caanan that moved toward Egypt and then became nomadic again and moved back to Caanan
The "simites" (I guess speakers of semitic languages?) were right next door in Mesopotamia. All in all the rise and fall of civilizations is a matter of sound governance and favorable geography, not race. 5000 years ago Egypt ruled supreme thanks to the fertile floodplains of the Nile. Now Egypt is economically inferior to Sweden, a nation with 1/10th of its population.
@@magicman3163 my point is that jews claim through the Bible that the most ancient civilizations in the world are simites, like Assyrians and Persians and even PHOENICIANS for gods shake, they even claim tgat greek, arabic and kyrilik alphabet comes from them. THEM WHO WERE A NOMADIC TRIVE and didn't have any noteworthy civilization or culture
Medjay being the only character whose skin you can barely change is such a huge BS lol. "Uh its 'cause they were like this irl" then why the hell can we turn the samurai's skins into straight coal 😭
Bruh Raven when you said you didn't wanna bore us I was sad I could listen to a full history documentary if you voiced it it's entertaining as fuk to hear you go on about history of any culture
I agree with everything except the part about the Nubians being the darker than the local Egyptians yet you show a picture of White passing eygptians next to a Nubian who probably had origins from the Sudan region, it wasn't just jet black Nubians and white looking Egyptians, further trying to separate Nubians from the Egyptians when they where all once the same people. there are Africans or black people who come in all shades from jet black, dark brown, brown, light Brown yellow, light yellow in tone, these same skin tones you will find all over Africa and you can see it on the paintings on the walls, there was only Roman and arab looking Egyptians later on, like the picture you showed in your video.
Only reason that I bought Medjay was because of Assassin’s Creed Origins
Did the medjay have their own tribe or would they be apart of the Sudanese tribes of today? Because the majority of pyramids are in Sudan not Egypt
I believe they were a part of the sugondese tribe
Medjay are like modern Nubians, they live in both Nubia.and upper Egypt
Great Research Bro Yes Yes Ta-seti and The Real Name For Egypt is Kemet Or Kemtu Damn Aysserians They Added Three Medjay Warrior's In For Honor The Medjay's Should Be it's Own Faction My Weapon of Choose is Khopesh Swords an Egyptian Spear's an Shields They Should Gave Medjay Regular Egyptian Long Axe or Short Axe
the only reference Ive ever known for Medjay were Zoroastrian priests one of the oldest ongoing religion in human history from Iran and the root for the word magician...
...and ptolmey the p is silent
Edit: I misunderstood Raven's intent and thoughts on the topic. This comment is now null and void. I thought he was insulting slanderous for the complaint. I was wrong.
I dont have much to say other than I love the history. I learned a lot here.
however, you keep digging at slanderous when he has a fair arguement. no one likes preferential racial treatment against them(percieved or real). I have roman ancestry. and I can see how a black we wuz kangs joke centurion is offensive when done to other euro or asian characters.
The problem is that Slanderous isn't intending to make a fair argument; Never has. He's just simply complaining because he can.
The only thing I disagree with him on is that it's intentionally racist. I just think it's a stupid inconsistency that should have been handled better.
@@RavenKnightYT I see. I must've missed your previous video on it. I misunderstood you, my mistake. I agree with what you guys are saying. I'll open my mouth so you can insert foot on this oneXD.

Thank god u learned to pronounced the characters name right takes a lil criticism don't it mate
Not really. I just looked up the historical pronunciation to make sure it was different. At the time, I was still unfamiliar with the word.
But it seems my criticism on your horrible English didn’t sink in. You didn’t capitalize God, you misspelled “you,” you added an unnecessary “d” and the end of “pronounce,” you misspelled “little,” and still no punctuation.
I wouldn’t be so strict about this with you, but rude behavior invites rude responses.
@@RavenKnightYT yeah wat ever makes sleep better at night I just know ur not miss pronouncing their name which makes me sleep better

@@Eppursi I love Raven’s content, it’s just with this hero-
Nubians, Medjay were Nubians. They were not Egyptian, they were masters of archery, not melee combat. The reason people seek to think they’re Egyptian is because the Egyptians formed a policing force called the Medjay to draw bravado from the Nubian Medjay.
No I like the content but welcome back to heroes in history is kind of a catch phrase and I just wanted to meme it
@@Ci1antr0 Eh, to be honest, we don't know for sure if that is the case.
@Yitzi Siefert The ethnic Medjay were Nubians. They were integrated into the Egyptian Empire. They were hired as police force. Over time, more ethnics joined and thus the term Medjay for Egypt changed from an ethnicity to a occupation and action of policing. At least, that's what my research shows.
