    Wow your habit about pairing color with color is fantastic and new to me! I’ve always loved wearing color and agree color is versatile 🙌🏼 Appreciate you breaking the “neutral, minimal only” aesthetic mold on TH-cam too.

      Thank you ❤ I hope the tip is helpful for you. I know that once I started doing this, it’s completely changed the way I dress :)

    As an interior designer, I appreciate your comment about pairing a brighter color with a toned down color or earth tone, instead of ok/white to show off its hue

    I love the visuals you provide. The first point alone is blowing my mind, the difference is huge

    My style has changed quite a bit since moving to Scandinavia and it's so easy to get caught up in the all neutrals or monochromatic look that's so prevalent here, but advice like this gives me a bit of style inspiration to incorporate color in ways that aren't jarring or boring. I tend to stay away from trends that are repeats; I lived through the 90s and early 00s once, I do not want to see whale tails again. I love the idea of bringing the eye up visually, this is something I've definitely been working on with my accessory game. This video had some really, really helpful tips!

      I’m so glad :) ❤ thank you! I love the neutral looks too BUT adding some colour just makes dressing a lot more fun ✨

    I love her style so much 😢 Sometimes, when I try to dress up a little bit more, I feel I've done too much, and now I see the issue is my high contrast palettes! Definitely I need more neutrals than just black 😂

      Might be the level of contrast in your features or you color palette season too

      @@carly9077 This. I'm struggling trying to know my season: at first I thought I was a winter, then a spring and now I have no idea 😅 I just know I can wear bright colors (but I think black is too much for my tops). I'ld love being analysed by a professional IRL.

    • @DailyHelenJ
      @DailyHelenJ  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Neutrals other than black can make a huge difference and create lower contrast :) ❤ I find merriam style on YT a great source for colour analysis. Also, just browsing reddit threads on colour analysis was really helpful for me too

    the notion that you can wear black and white with everything is really misleading... especially for someone who likes to wear colorful items, they often just don't look good with b/w

    • @jawbreaker8125
      @jawbreaker8125 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I agree with you, the workaround Is usually to substitute black for another neutral like grey, beige, navy, brown/tan or even leopard print (which is absolutely a neutral too)

    • @DailyHelenJ
      @DailyHelenJ  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      I know right! I often hear the advice to just pair colours with b/w but honestly they’re so much better with neutrals and other colours 😍

      Great tips! The only thing that looks off is how high waisted all of your pants are. I would go for a slightly less high waist; it would look more balanced imo. My eye is drawn to how high your pants are..looks unnatural especially when you don’t have a coat on over the pants.

    I agree with all your points 👍
    Long denim skirt bothers me because of the zipper. It makes crotch area bulky and waist thicker visually. Thin denim fabric or chambray that cut like actual skirt without jean reference is much better.

    I am experimenting with colour too! Having a lot of fun doing it. Summer was easier I find when I pulled out my winter wardrobe it was all very neutral and flat , I was bored after experimenting with pink and teal and camel and all kinds in summer. Definitely harder to achieve the me-ness so far.

    Hi Helen. I really appreciate this video. I too got caught up in getting all the classic instagrammer wardrobe peices only to feel like it was vey boring. I've started to add more personal pieces and colour back into my wardrobe. It's so refreshing to see a content creator addressing this instead of confining to the same old instagrammer wardrobe and sponsored items.

    Helen those dresses look so flattering on you!!
    Do you recall where you got that three-stone ring? I’ve been gravitating to those simple but antique looking pieces too, however the exact style I favor seems to be hard to find online.

    Voluminous denim skirts ( the really thick kind) are a pain to wash. Of course they look cute. But anyone who's worn them in the 2000s will know the pain points. Denim in general is a pain to wash but with pants it's possible to get tonnes of wear before each wash. With skirts, that is not possible unless someone really wears skirts all the time. Otherwise it's a waste of resources and doesn't work for all climates.
