    Cannonball horns look, feel and sound beautiful to me. I've had one now for almost 10 years and still marvel at it every time I practice. Great craftsmanship

      Hate is strong, but I don't like their sound. To me, they have near 0 resonance. Beyond dark... almost deadened. Sticking with my Yamaha 62ii... she rings in my hands

    The titanium neck screw used on this Cannonball is at the opposite end of the weight scale when compared to a heavy weighted screw. I didn't notice much difference between the Fat and Standard neck. A very good sounding alto for sure.

    I love my vintage reborn brute tenor. I love the picture jasper keys.
    Does it affect the sound? No.
    Does it look great? Yes.
    Do I wish they were Tigers eye instead? Yes.
    Is it because it would sound better? No. I just think tigers eye is gorgeous
    And I want a gorgeous horn that sounds great. So I bought a Cannonball. I am happy.

      Bold. And completely subjective. Any Selmer or Yamaha professional horn fairs better in all areas. Arguably [besides looks]. I personally still prefer gold, cognac, or yellow gold brass lacquer. They seem to age/sound the best over 20-40years. Cannonball is only a 25year old company.

  • @josedepaz30
    @josedepaz30 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That Cannonball neck you first had really inhibited the focus of the tonality that was coming from the horn, the horn sounded really good but it lacked this laser like focus that I wanted to hear. Now, the original neck produced the exact focus the horn needs, since it is a alto that wants to be pushed in sound it also wants to be projected just as much. It kinda reminds of a like a shy Julius Keilwerth with the heart of a Selmer.

    Titanium is normally used to save weight not to add mass. That said I think I notice a slight difference between the two necks. Maybe I like the original better, but I think I should try in person to know for sure. Ps the story about the stones affecting the sound is a complete nonsense. No offence.

    • @ngtamphuong
      @ngtamphuong 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should they say the titanium and the stones make their sax more appealing? No way. We sax players only care about the sound, not the look my friend. Anything new must contribute to the sound or the players won’t need it.
