- Golden Gate nature reserve and Sterkfontein dam is in the Free State province of South Africa and another one of my favourite places. Towns close by include Harrismith, Kestell and Clarence which is known for its beautiful and green landscapes. Unfortunately this was just a week before the rains started falling after winter, but still you will experience the beauty of this part of South Africa.
