- Guo Pei’s dream since childhood has been to create beautiful garments. Over her thirty year career in the fashion industry, she never strayed from her vision. Now, her dream is her reality: she is creating haute couture. But she needs the model for her last piece of the fashion show.

The clothes need a queen, and Carmen is that queen, she exudes dignity and grand elegance. She herself has once heck of a story, an amazing life. Born into the Depression into an unstable family, foster homes, scraping by, starving not for fashion but extreme poverty and adversity, she is the ultimate survivor and is not bitter but humble and grounded in reality. In both the designer and the model, they know privation, making beauty that much sweeter.
What an amazing collaboration. Carmen is one of THE most beautiful women in the wold, she is more beautiful than ever in her 80’s.

Sorry, this cliche never made sense. Age is significant. Carmen was nearly 90 in this show. Walking, standing, sitting can be struggles once one reaches a certain age. Those page boys were not just accessories; they were there to help Carmen walk upright down that runway. It's time we started treating getting older with the respect and care it deserves.
