I’ve been looking forward for her to make a national team comeback for years now. Hopefully she’ll see more court time next year.

I think she will since masayoshi manabe is the coach again.

I have known her since she played in the AVC u17 Championship 2014 where the Japanese team won Champion, and Airi was the MVP of the tournament, then she suddenly appeared in the WGP 2015 but just in short time. Then she decided to go to study in the USA before makes a surprise come back to Japan NT this year, but one thing that she still not match with the Japanese system is that she still has a lacking receiving and digging a ball, because as we all know the Japanese team is the master of defense. So i really like how Coach Manabe ( the one who has chosen her to NT since 2015) when he comes back to the Japanese team again, and he also bring her back to the team by switching her position form OH to be MB, she may be not good at foot working as MB but i think she did well since it's her first time, if Japanese team can train her more, i think she can be a good MB... She's still young (23-24) i hope she will get the chance to prove herself in 1-2 years. If she could not make it, she might be only the league player... (Hope she can ✌🏻)

Highly agree with your comments about Airi. I think she will be utilised as a middle blocker in the future games of Japan. She showed great potential and promise. High and powerful contact to the ball. Japan can even experiment with her to spike from the pipe when she is in the back row. The possibilities are almost endless for her. They really need to make her more comfortable in the middle like her foot work and blocking. I'm excited to see her next year playing for Japan.

if Japan plays MB1 tactic, she can take the position as MB and plays like OH.

@@raultorres2582 If they let her ply back row the. Why not out her as opposite. She is more comfortable as a pin hitter and will be blocking the enemy outside hitter.

@@ajollypanda4175 i think airi is not suitable for the japanese system as an opposite. I think that's why manabe is finding ways for her to get involve. Her liability is her defense and she is kind of slow to be honest for Japan. They have more success if their opposite is more defensive just like hayashi. I think Japan just need to focus more on creative setting. They are already crafty but need more plays to the middle.

He doesn't really have a choice though. Japan isn't exactly known for strong middle blockers, and Japan V-League's best blockers are full of foreign MBs.
