    Great video...thank you for a decent comparison....one of the best I have seen...I appreciate your time in producing this...you did a great job...but I'm probably going with the Pro...for two reasons...more ports..and the stand can be removed so I can use a VESA mount. I do have a question for you...the studio monitors on your desk...do you have a link to those? I have some JVC monitors...but they are powered and BIG...have been looking for something smaller. You seem to have them :) .
    Thanks again for your video.

    You have been so helpful. Listening to what you are saying. Should I consider the iMac 5k since it has to handle music production with logic pro and final cut pro X to make videos. Then I will be using it to live stream since it has more ports available. What configurations are more necessary to do the tasks. There is a choice between i5 or i9: comes with 8gb memory (32 GB is an additional 750: CAD) May not need the Vega graphics comes with Radeon Pro 580X : Comes with 2TB fusion drive storage. or 1TD SSD storage is $375 CAD) What's over kill and what's necessary to handle my tasks?

    That fusion drive speed benchmark... it's basically smoke and mirrors. Its real speed goes down to about 150MB/s at best.

  • @underpressureman
    @underpressureman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So if you're adding memory yourself, you can get up to 64gb, that's killer, but what about upgrading the SSD Drive, do they make that pretty possible? The other thing I'm having trouble understanding is that getting a 3TB Fusion over a 2TB Fusion is only $120 , but if you just choose a 2TB regular SSD(not fusion) it's +$840. So what's the differences/pro's/con's if one got for example a 2TB fusion SSD over a 2TB SSD(non fusion) ? I kinda just assumed Fusion would be better?

    It is a very good comparison. It tells us that iMac will be more worthy than the pro in terms of hours light video editing tasks. However, I think pro has something that makes it not be replaced by iMac. That is the stability of long term computing. For heavy rendering for days or intense scientific simulation in a Mac, the pro is the only option.

    The iMac Pro is obviously far superior, way better graphics with HBM2 memory which totally destroys the standard iMac, way faster SSD, more reliable ECC RAM, T2 chip, better cooling system, more I/O ports, Ethernet 10Gb, the list goes on. Yes, the iMac Pro is more expensive but its a professional workstation grade machine, its actually fairly priced.

      FBI firstly the $2500 isn’t spec’ed with the Vega 48 as far as I know and second the ssd is way different you have no clue what you’re talking about. Apple uses two nvme drives in raid 0 on the pro

    • @92energie
      @92energie 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ryannovak5911 But that still doesn't defend the huge price difference IMO... the advanced cooling system is clearly made for the 10+ core versions..you won't see much of a heat difference with 8 cores. The difference in SSD is only noticeable in write speed, the more important read speed is the same. The iMac i9 is simply way more bang for your buck than the Mac Pro...

    • @Tigerex966
      @Tigerex966 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      more like forcing you to get repairs done only at apple and internal ssd upgrades locked only to apple at time of purchase.
      So 5 years from now you want a 4tb ssd inside as prices fall, to bad the t2 chip forbids that.
      Intel chips can do many of the encoding things better than the t2 chips anyway.

    • @kuchenzwiebel7147
      @kuchenzwiebel7147 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Tigerex966 So because the t2 chip is slower than the intel, they took the time to develop it? Regardless if the repairs are forced to be done by specific companies, I always would repair my Macs at apple, because if they break it, they have to fix it, they won't steal your data, they will only use original parts... Why, even if the SSD could be swapped, would you take the time to put it in your pc? TB3 is fast enough to use external SSDs. And have you even though about why the T2 chip was made? To stop the possibility for hackers to analyze MacOS for their hacks. If they just wanted to generate money with it, they would have build it in much quicker.

    • @cheezy2455
      @cheezy2455 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kuchenzwiebel7147 the T2 chip is garbage the programing is horrible and often leads to kernel panics... The problem is power management is done buy the T2 chip and it's horrible at it. Normally Intel cpus would do it them self but because only Apple does it this way bridge os chrashes when chip wants go faster but the T2 is not keeping up . A 2019 imac is a better option few years down the road you can buy a.new imac that is way faster then the imac pro. We do see that final cut and Vegas pro work more an more with the video cards and premiere is getting real slow because they don't support things like new Navi encoders on de new amd cards or the afterburner...

      Show as the ACTUAL cost of building " a pc with those specs for almost $1000 less"
      Including Windows 10 Pro (you are not just stealing it?), all the other software that comes with macOS, and the 5k screen with ALL the costs, delivery, warranty, support and charges,
      ...not just some arm waving: "...not much extra".
      As much as I think Apple is overcharging for their current hardware, which I agree is unbalanced, overheats and is practically unrepairable, I can not find any major savings building my own.
      And excuse me, I wasn't born yesterday, a pile of parts delivered from dozens of suppliers is not a fully assembled computer that works out of the box in minutes, and has virtually lifetime support.
      Don't give me assembling a PC is a piece of cake and takes no-time at all, because I can't get someone to do all the leg work for me and assemble it for nothing. Weirdly they want to get paid.
