I texted her and said “this must be a good bale cuz the bottom was full of mushrooms!” It didn’t occur to me to also grow mushrooms in it until I watched this videos. Very cool. I bought oyster mushroom plug spawn from Amazon spring 2021 for around $20. Had a fruiting in the fall both years. Almost exactly 3lb of mushrooms total. Happy with that. Hoping for 1 more fruiting next fall. Hard part was choosing a fresh piece of wood from my woods. I'll give sawdust spawn a shot using leaf mold. 👍

You can do so much with mushrooms! My favorite is Linguini with "clam" sauce. You guessed it, no clams just mushrooms and the flavor is amazing
Great use!

The bales are great for wine caps.

I was looking for the Friday Ramblings today. But you still managed to put out some content. I may give this a shot in the future.
Ramblings is slowing a bit as not much new is going on but I will keep the FMR going. Thanks for the membership,
That was a good surprise.. I never thought of growing these. Really peaked my interest. I may give those wine caps a try.
They are really worth adding to a garden

Starting my first bed this year💜💜
I tried wine caps this year. While they grew, the slugs loved them too. So rid the area of slugs and snails.
Good point

I use a deep layer of woodchips as mulch for my garden. Would I be able to grow these along side my veggies? I'm in Hawaii, so it's a warm moist environment
The wood chips are a fine medium. I dont know exactly the temps wine caps need for fruiting but look that up. I think they would work.

I have had them in my garden for a couple years. But they can come up the first year.
