30+year Cox cable tv subscriber here. I absolutely plan on switching to streaming tv this year. They ask you to commit to a long-term plan to save you money. They say your monthly charge won't increase if you commit, and when it does increase, you get excuses and higher rates that you have to shut up and live with. That's been my experience lately.
Senior citizen here.. cutting Comcast
I tried Pluto and couldn't deal with all the ads. The more we watched, the more ads came up. I don't mind a few, but 8 at a time is too much for me
Cable companies should dismiss cord cutting 2.0 at their own peril! I switched from Spectrum internet to T-mobile Home Internet as soon as I knew it was a thing when it first launched.
I watch a lot of older shows, so much better than today's shows. Programming today is largely trash.
Me too
Same. Even the young people don't like modern day TV shows the ratings prove it.
I agree. Back in the olden days we paid for cable because it had no commercials! So WTF?
@@AlisMarsaili1351 Times have changed that old form is dead
PREACH
My 2024 plan is to cut back on paid streaming services and focus on discovering what's on the free services. I will maintain a couple of paid services, but no more.
Hopefully there will be real improvements to slingtv
I’m looking for no commercials or less I mean it’s expensive!
@bonniebrodie5754 oh you won't see those kinds of changes as slingtv's plans are far too cheap. I really just want a customizable guide where I can rearrange or delete channels
SlingTV has & always will suck
@@chriskuczynskimusic34 what sucks about slingtv?
I like 5g Internet,I had ATT DSL speed 6 Mbps ATT 5g Internet 100 and my bill went down from $62.49 to $55.54 a month
I hate to say, but unless there is some kind of stand that everyone gets behind it doesn't matter if you're on cable or on streaming service the prices are going to keep going up. The big picture here is bigger than just cable and streaming, it's corporate greed! And until we put the squeeze on their bottom line they are going to continue to squeeze every last penny they can!
While in some areas 5G may be available, for many of the suburan areas 5G is still not available. Please consider covering people that live in the major of the US land area that do not and probably will not have 5G. I can't even get cell phone service reliably in my house and the Verizon tower is less than 3 miles away.
I rotate too. I like to do movie nights in the winter as in summer I get glare, so I sign up for Netflix in the winter and cancel in spring.
I had dish and cancelled them ,got Hulu live for sports ,but cancelling them when sports end will pick back up in spring ,
No big deal, Luke, but the way you pronounce that city in South Dakota is just like the word “Sue”
Sioux Falls, South Dakota
a lot of folks had been finding out that they do not need to watch commercials with their shows that is why they cut cable
I am a TH-cam tv streamer and love it for it’s price. But what I really what is to watch Houston Astro game my home baseball teams as separate streaming package or a add on that can be canceled after the season. How can I do this without going back to FUBOTV?
We have cut the cable cord for almost
two years. We only stream Max, which
is free with our AT&T, and TH-cam,
free, Pluto, free etc.
Actually we do not watch even OTA TV
much anymore, except for some MeTV
shows, as the older shows are better. 😊
I agree I love movies from 1920-1962 yes I watch TCM but in order to get TCM I have to buy the sports package at $150 plus the box’s anyway how much are you saving or paying?
@@AlisMarsaili1351 We used to pay over $200.00 per month for cable, home phone,
and internet. We just pay for internet now.
We do not pay for other TV, such as the
streaming services.
When Luke says that these free services have new shows on them, what is he talking about? What new shows do they have?
Disney plus probably should shut down and just license their content out like they do for video games Disney does not make Star wars games instead they sell the rights to someone else for a game. I mean let's be honest at this point Disney really can't make a movie or TV show to save their lives. I mean it's pretty embarrassing at this point.
Some of the money from the FCC OTA TV spectrum sell off to cellphone companies went to pay for free OTA (ATSC 1.0 DTV converter boxes).
There is no USA Government money for free OTA (DRM ATSC 3.0 Pay TV converter boxes) this time so the full transition may never happen or take many years.
FCC is not forcing any OTA 1.0 TV Stations to move over to OTA 3.0 TV. So some TV stations will be on Free 1.0 TV and others will be on DRM Pay 3.0 TV.
The FCC is only allowing OTA Simulcasts DRM 3.0 at this time for testing purposes
OTA ATSC 3.0 TV currently has no 4K and you only get the main Simulcasted 1.0 channel and no sub channels.
Not enough bandwidth.
You have several technical errors.
I lost Circle and Dabl, both were replaced with Outlaw & 365, but I also lost Rewind TV in the Cleveland market. What happened to Rewind ?
People are coming back to cable because streaming is becoming to expensive
Everyone wants to cut the cable…..but then what does on do? We watch very little American TV which is trash. We of course want internet, we have xfinity. we watch mostly British Acorn and BritBox, Fox News , PBS, but only Masterpiece, we don’t watch any sports, reality tv. We do have plain Apple TV so we can stream the British programming and we have Prime tv. Can’t really watch much on Apple cause now you need Apple + It’s getting crazy. We are senior citizens and getting ridiculous. What do you mean by live TV and demand? Both have ads and if u use demand we can’t fast forward the ads.
We just can’t keep up. What do you suggest?
Pronounced Sue-Falls South Dakota should you need that next time :)
What do you think about Spectrum's attempt at streaming? I am trying to decide on changing my Spectrum cable to their streaming or Roku?
Question for Luke : I presume Cord Cutters Is covering 2024 CES correct?
Yes we will have staff there.
We are finally going to get fiber where I live, I will be dropping Spectrum internet as soon as possible!
What happens to Dish other ventures suchas Dish Wireless
Dish Wireless is Boost infiniti. I hear them advertised all the time on TV on the radio.
Luke, looks like you got your percentages mixed up with the popularity pole of free streaming services, after Pluto at 31% shouldn't it be Roku at 21% and Tubi at 18% (not 28%)?
They haven't already?
I have "Cable-like" streaming but I'm only watching news and History Channel on it. I will replace History (which you can use the App to watch next day shows for free) with Philo or Frenfly and news with Local Now. Sports are pretty much split across most of the streamers now. We don't get locals from an antenna here, but do I really need ABC and Fox live channels? CBS and NBC can be obtained from their paid apps. I'll save another $50 a month moving to Philo and $70 an month moving to Frndly and really not miss much at all.
i'm trying to find the right bundle
Question for Luke. Do you see any of these streaming services starting to require contract subscriptions in the future? Like the big cable companies do
Staffing agencies already used contracts. Such as if they find you a job for a year you might sign a contract for one year.
@@donhenry7930 my bad. That was supposed to say streaming services. Spell checker got me again
I want to get a router/modem like Netgear. I only watch TCM, ID, and TLC and I’m paying a little over $200 not including my phone a month. I have a ROKU stick. I’m not a tech person at all so that part has me stuck. I want to make sure both my TV’s, laptop and cellphone.
I need help with doing the tech piece. Any help or reference would help me a great deal. TY!
Your internet service company will typically supply the router when they install your internet. , so that is not really an issue. Sling will be your best bet if you must have all the services you indicated you wanted. Sling's price would be $46 for those 3 channels, plus you would get 41 more channels.
How many people are canceling streamers due to price hiking bait and switch "ad supported" schemes?
This has gotten out of control.
I ditched Hulu already and will be ditching Prime in the next week.
They keep raising prices because all the sheep keep saying the price hikes aren't that bad. 😂😂
I'm canceling hulu because it is nothing but Wokeholes and smut
@@bradc6199 cry more 😂😂
Question for Luke: do you see sports keeping cable and cable replacements like TH-cam TV alive indefinitely? I'd be happy with free OTA's & streaming services and just paying for the few networks needed to get the sports I want (ESPNs, TNT/TBS, NBC Sports Chicago, BTN, FS1) but just getting those few networks seems to require paying for a TON of stuff I don't want.
Make sure to watch tomorrow's video. I will answer your question at the end.
@@CordCuttersNews Thanks! I'll be watching.
In my opion dish and directv needs to shut down their satellite service and move their customers to streaming because satellite tv is dead.
Dish and directv needs to stop launching dishes and stop promoting their tv services. All they are doing is wasting money.
@@Genesisfan1989 None of your concern, is it?
My arument is why is lionsgate, paramount, wbd wasting money on movie channel subscribers when they can easily stream for a lot less. The same goes for live connent.
In case you didn't know they have been doing that for a while. It is DirecTV stream and DirecTV via internet which is in your house with the receiver which connects to satellite or Internet for content.
Movie channels and cable sub channels are not profitable and needs to be shut down and focus on channels that are making money. regional sports is a perfect example.
I want to get rid of cable and just use maybe Netflix and Hulu
