    Cunard boasts so much luxury, such high prices, and such a massive ship - and this is where dog owners hang out?? On lawn chairs on the narrowest boardwalk of the ship!?? I am shocked to see this after Cunard's own promotional videos which show things like a massive on-board cinema, dance floors and dining halls. It's even difficult to see the dogs packed together in metal cages for 7 days. Is it so impossible to make dog-friendly cabins?

      Wow disgusting prison for dogs. Have a dog the look after it. Don’t drive round for hours and don’t subject them to prison. We only holiday in places our family fur members can be with us all the time. We haven’t been abroad for ten years as our baby is too precious to subject to cruelty for our own pleasure . @@maisymorris7506 that's a very privileged attitude. Maybe have a little empathy before judging others' situation. Some people are literally moving their lives overseas and this is the best option for them. There are multiple windows of time for dogs to be out of their kennels. And the kennels are there for the safety of the dogs and guests traveling without pets as the ship is a floating hotel subject to all types of weather.

    Thanks for posting this @michybinkley. We're contemplating moving to Europe with our 82 lbs dog but we don't think he could handle being in the cargo hold of a plane for 9+ hours so we researched this option. How big are the biggest dog kennels? We're thinking our dog would need two kennels since he doesn't particularly like being in close quarters.

    • @michybinkley
      @michybinkley  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Paul - I suggest you call Cunard and ask them the dimensions of the single kennel - then double that to get to the size of a double (they essentially join two kennels side by side to get to a single, large kennel). I know they put medium/larger dogs in the lower kennels, (they kennels are two stories high), and they do have a weight restriction. It's been 4 & 5 years since we sailed so it might be good to call and get the up to date info.

    Such a real video that definitely helped me make up my mind on not to board my dog on the Queen Mary! For once, only social dogs can do this! My dog is reactive so that´s out. Then, it is serious space promiscuity for animals. To top it all it is 1,200 dollars for the animal! To be cooped up...and I am guessing many dogs are sea sick and only start to adjust after day 5 or 6....Motion sickness is a real thing for dogs..The shortest transatlantic flights are 7 hours. That is a lot less to be copped up if you can fly off season when it is not hot and from New York, which is the shortest flying time...This is 7 days for your dog to be cooped up.

      Hi Kia - you make some good points. For us, I spent about 50+ hrs researching flying dogs to Europe and the majority of what I discovered were horror stories. Also, we were leaving from Vancouver, Canada so to have one of our dogs in a plane for ~13 hrs (including checkin etc), we knew he wouldn't fare well.

      @@michybinkley I am seeing bad stories too. And then today, I asked updates on recent flights stories on Air France on a French expat forum and a horse transporter gave some valuable and positive feedback on cargo flying. Some other gave negative one and worked as staff in an airport. You hear positive, negative and neutral stuff. I could only find 2 spy cameras of journeys inside kennels (Corgi and GSD). I wish we could have a lot more people fitting nano cameras inside kennels. For me now, I am afraid of the kennel getting lost due to ground workers strikes. Being objective, it is hard to see how safe it all is. You have a breed where it is easier to make a decision :-)

      On our crossings after a day or so, some Owners were okay if the Kennel Masters let their dogs out without them (the Owners) being there. I think it depends on your dog's demeanour and your comfort level. We weren't comfortable with it, but we were in the kennels as much as possible. Some Owners weren't there very often, so the Kennel Masters watched them.

    Cruises could offer so much better accommodations for CAT owners! We want to retire to France one day but won’t until all 3 of our cats have crossed the rainbow 🌈 bridge. Same area as dogs and only 1 hr out with owner is such absolute bullshit for that cost. Real service is own cabin with a do not disturb sign and maid service wouldn’t have to “worry” about the cats. This is all fine for dogs, I suppose but no reason to not be more accommodating for cats.

    • @michybinkley
      @michybinkley  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dana - I agree with you. I think the cats should be allowed in the cabins with the Owners. I think they could also let the cats out more frequently in the kennels to be in the interior lounge area, then the dogs can be outside - but I guess it would depend on the weather.

      I suggest calling Cunard and asking to speak to the Kennels.

    Anyone crossing with cats? I've a trained service cat (seizure alert)--however recognize this is VERY rare. I've footage proving it, but you'd have to know what to look for to recognize the alert behavior. I go nowhere without Mrs Jones. But lately, this means I pretty much go NO WHERE. See, I need Mrs Jones to sleep WITH me, because she tells me with her behavior whether I need a rest, or a doctor.

    7 days in such small dog area is pretty bad. There are small ferries that provide larger areas for your dogs for just a 2 day trip.
    I was expecting to see something alot better for such a ship and price. Pathetic.

      Hi, can you name some of those ferries? Any experiences, recommendations for using other than QM2 ?

      @@gezak9209 I was talking about ferries that make shorter trips than this. I don´t know any that crosses the atlantic.
      You may want to contact QM2 and check if this is the real only area for dogs or are dogs able to walk in some other areas maybe, just to make sure

    If I’m spending $50,000.00 on a suite my husky moomie will be sleeping on his own bed in the suite! And definitely not inside a tiny cage!

    Thank you for preventing me from taking my dog on here. The kennels are awful and there's no grass or play area. I wouldn’t subject my dog to these conditions. Completely different to the promotional video from the company.

      Thanks for your opinion. I made this video 5 years ago - maybe things have changed since then.

    I was under the impression the kennels were big luxury runs. This looks awful. They barely have room to move. And there is nowhere for dogs to potty except a fire hydrant?

    Kennels are so cruel for a dog used to it's owners attention
