    I had no idea these blades were double sided. You Sir, have displayed the epitome of the TH-cam spirit by this very simple yet to the point how to video.
    I am a jack of all trades, master of none; now I am of one.

    Excellent video. Not sure if your model is same as mine DX734, but it should come equipped with a blade lock on the right hand side (from the back view) where you can push it down and prevent the blade from rotating while you change your blades. It’s a silver little hook that you push forward to catch it and then push down to release it.

      And here I was wondering why my blades weren't rotating. Gonna have to check that out. Thank you!

    As a blade changer, your top 👍
    As a counter, you need to practice, you counted 7 bolts twice and you get 8 bolts.

  • @tzavitz

    Just bought one and this was very helpful to know for the future. I assume that since it has the alignment "dimples" that there is really no blade height adjustment to be done, correct? I assume that's why the blades are disposable after you use both sides, right?

    • @canonshotpro
      @canonshotpro 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. That's my understanding, is that because of the alignment dimples there are no adjustments. Set, screw in, and go. Flip, or replace when needed.

    I bought this planer about 6 months ago and now it's time to change the blades. I followed your excellent video directions but I cannot loosen any of the screws holding down the blades. I'm going to try using a ratchet for more torque. Any suggestions?

    How do you know when your blades start getting dull? I just bought this planer and used it a ton!

    • @canonshotpro
      @canonshotpro 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine gets heavy use and I went about 7 months before my first change. You will start to notice that the blades aren't creating a glass surface any more. You may also notice that the blades are creating a few lines from damaged areas of the blades. I like my boards almost looking like they were hand planed. The sharper they are the less hand work for me. I know some people that get a year or a few years bc their use isn't as great.

    • @8stringmonkey
      @8stringmonkey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine was getting too hot, and turning itself off. Was acting like it was difficult to plane even soft pine boards when I was just lowering them 1/4 turn at once.

    I just changed my blades and now I have bad viberation - so bad that I had to shut it down. Where do I start to look for the problem?

    • @canonshotpro
      @canonshotpro 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bruce, I have not encountered a vibration before. I would remove all the blades and make sure there was no debris under them. Reset the blade and make sure all screws go back without resistance. Boot up and try again. My guess would be that one of the blades is not sitting properly.

    • @katievitale168
      @katievitale168 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You likely have the blade lock on. It’s a silver looking hook on the right hand side. It’s actually very useful so that the blade doesn’t rotate while you’re taking the torx bolts out.
