That was my felling before Disneyland Forward was approved. Iger said Avatar was happening regardless. If Disneyland Forward wasn't approved by the city, then I assume there would have been a low budge retheme of Sorin and Grizzly River Run into Avatar. The natural theming of those areas makes the transition pretty easy. (Note: I think this was a bad idea, but it just seemed like the type of decision the company would have made at the time.)
If there was an award for great content creators who really go above and beyond with their films. Then you should win. It’s incredible how much research you put into all of this.
Grizzly Peak area is by far the most beautiful part of DCA and works seamlessly with the GCHotel, and those guests are paying a LOT of money for a Park view. So there’s no way in Mr. Toad’s Hell that AvatarLand will replace it.
@@TheFrostFilesPodcastBob Iger: “as part of the pandora re theme of grizzly peak; we will be re theming the grand Californian hotel into the grand Navi-Dian hotel!” Of course that’s a joke but i wouldn’t be surprised if it actually ends up happening 😂
I’m a strong believer that Avatar will go into the Simba lot. Plenty of space, no demolition to existing attractions, and very little disruption during construction. The show buildings could be placed along the western perimeter to act as a noise buffer for the residential properties. Framing the rock arch to the west or south could offer great sunsets and beautiful vistas.
This is my thought and with the show building on the west could be a place for neighboring show building. Having Avatar land in Simla would give the Vibes to entice people to make the journey. Look at how popular Moana at Epcot. People love the walk through and small interactions it’s beautiful
@@MrJmoering Yes I agree. The walk over and into Avatar, as it is with Galaxys Edge, would give those “vibes” for sure. If not Simba lot - then what are they saving that area for???
@@MrJmoering Yes, but I see those going to the Disneyland side (current DTD and hotel parking) because I think it fits better. Or, if they were ever to finally take out the old motor boat area in Fantasyland and/or the theater that would free up space, art least for some of that.
I actually enjoyed "Avatar". And I liked Pandora at Animal Kingdom. But I don't see why the Disneyland Resort should also have an Avatar themed land. Just let it be unique to WDW.
Not a huge Avatar fan but love the creativity it allowed imagineering in Animal Kingdom. Great breakdown and it’s kinda fun to see what they finally do
Grizzly River Rapids actually has a partial IP used. They use the voice of the park ranger from the Humphrey the Bear cartoons. They should add Humphrey and the park ranger animatronics to the ride. Humphrey was always getting into trouble he could easily fit into the attraction. They could do updated cartoons for Disney+. Bam the ride now has a fitting IP and an added story line.
@@johnnyruss5189 Problem with Brave is it doesn't fit the national park theme that is already there. Part of the reason that area was themed to national park originally was to fit in with the hotel.
Thank you Brickey, great job surveying fans and going through the options! Disney could probably fit both a Monstropolis with door coaster (plus existing Monsters Inc. ride) *and* a Mexican village with Coco boat ride in the Hollywood Land / Hollywood Backlot areas, if some of the bus area and Hyperion were used. This would be the easiest build project (start right away) and while Monsters Inc. ride is closed it could be referbed with modern effects, maybe a new fun vehicle system. Then if Avatar does go in Simba it needs about 12 acres -- or half the Simba lot, allowing for one more land expansion over there such as a Villains Land, Lion King, Neverland, or Zootopia. Most importantly -- because I cannot stand the Pixar Place Hotel being seen from DCA -- if Avatar is over there I'd want this to be turned into a Pandora hotel. Though that building is ugly, if it was rethemed as a scientist outpost, with rock work floating around, lush landscaping, and one of those helicopters on the roof, at least when you see it from the park it's a thematic element (like seeing Matterhorn or Mission Breakout) and not a dated 1980s hotel.
Off topic comment: You mentioned the grizzly peak area had no IP. Neither did PotC or HM…until they did. If Disney wanted to create a Grizzly Peak film, they could. It would take some real creativity, but it could be done. Boom! IP!
Not interested in Avatar inside of DCA. I am interested in a hat designed by Brickey though. If Disney does build an Avatar land hopefully it’s part of Disneyland Forward and they don’t cut any corners. It would be nice in a few years from now we’re all talking about how that Avatar land really beat all expectations.
If we were to build in Simba, I feel that we would be dedicating 50% of the lot. The big issue is still the noise factor. Even with indoor rides, the waterfalls might be a bit too much, and we’d have to aim the waterside back towards Pixar Pier. It’s not like we have the freedom of the northern lot near the hotels in Simba. We have residential west of Simba, and that makes things complicated.
What was not mentioned here is what parcel would be the easiest for the construction logistics. And the easy an answer is the Simba lot for sure, despite needing to bridge the gap over Disneyland Drive. Remember, that has already been done with Downtown Disney some 24 years ago. And the infrastructure would be far easier as well starting from scratch. As for the Grizzly Peak area -- Has anyone considered the massive headache of demolition of that area, the construction and trying to get heavy equipment, earth-graders, 100’s of debris-hauling trucks in the center of DCA for 24 months of more??? No way that would happen. And even the Hollywood Backlot area would cause the similar issues along with massive traffic and delays on Harbor Blvd. for the same reasons. So from a logistical and speed standpoint the best location is the Simba lot.
I hate the idea of putting Avatar in Hollywoodland...what a terrible location. Just because it CAN fit doesn't mean it SHOULD. There's zero immersion, you could see the mountains butt up against Harbor blvd....it would look terrible.
Whether or not Avatar goes to Hollywood Back Lot, the bus space is definitely coming to the park which is good news. The busses are all going to the new parking structure.
It would be better if they built a Monsters Inc land with the door coaster in that area though. They've been tabling the idea for years and since they're building one in FL they could add to the existing monster ride area in CA.
As always, you’re the man of the Disney fandom! Great overview of your survey results. I hope DCA doesn’t end up using the Hollywood back lot for Avatar, I think that area can be used for a different land down the future such as Zootopia, Monster Inc expansion etc. The Simba lot, looks more feasible, a blank slate for Disney Imagineers to work on will be phenomenal!
25% of the Simba lot for Avatar, but with 2 rides.... Then 15% Moana, 20% Atlantis and the water coaster, 10% Finding Nemo, 20% 20000 Leagues Submarine ride (so Disneyland can finally remove the submarine lagoon and Autopia), and other water related ips... So basically a mini version of Tokyo Disneysea, using all the water ips...
The Simba lot is only 25 acres. The ride system from Shanghai is bigger than 25% of that area. Even though, the basic idea of a mini-DisneySea is very cool.
0:51 I highly doubt Disney would replace a land at DCA that a) seamlessly connects to the wonderful Grand Californian Hotel and b) is beautifully themed and the one good land at DCA to begin with. Not to mention not enough room and housing the original Soarin’ that is very beloved and added to Florida, Shanghai, and Tokyo. According to a MiceChat update, AVATAR will now likely be in the Simba lot and Coco may be moved to Hollywood land, due to concerns about bottlenecking in Pixar Pier. Hopefully Hollywoodland (or part of it) would get some sort of a Santa Cecilia re-theme around it.
I've mentioned before that I thought the Hollywood back lot would be a great place for Coco. It's not exactly Mexico, but Los Angeles (and most of California) has strong ties to Mexico. Coco and the Mexican cultural themes would fit in very nicely. It's becomes another neighborhood in Los Angeles, which mimics what exists in real life.
@@wheelindisney5874 it could work- they could knock down some buildings and build a Coco ride there with a Hollywood Spanish-style facade. That could be the thematic connection, like Little Mermaid being a Victorian Bathhouse (? Odd choice). Although better if they could take down Monsters Inc and Philharmagic and use the current backlot buildings from Philharmagic to Monsters Inc to house the ride. The backlot can then be re-themed to Santa Cecilia. They’ll have to reroute the monorail though, which is pretty doable.
This is what I think they should do: 1. Rename DCA to "Franchiseland" (mostly joking... mostly...). 2. Just build a third park. Idc where, maybe even the Toy Story parking lot and make the monorail go there, just build it somewhere so it's not a fight to add more lands to the park and ruin the flow (example, I don't think Galaxy's edge should've been built at Disneyland). 3. If Disney that hell-bent on bringing Avatar to DCA, then (and I hate to say this) Hollywoodland would look the best. Even though I don't want it in DCA (I voted for it to go in another park), I think it would actually be a beautiful match to the theming. Imagine, you're looking down Hollywood Blvd (if they don't remove it), to the left is the sci-fi greenery of Avatar and to the right is the sci-fi machinery of Guardians of the Galaxy. I think they would complement well in theme and vibe, especially since both are movies that will be considered "classics" of our time, a fitting tribute to Hollywood.
Your on point with this one! I'm just tired of them trying to hide what they are doing by acting like wow this is an upgrade to the parks when we have to lose so much just to get it... but if hey would just stop and throw it all into one park maybe in Texas if not california and just and call it disney+land we could all be happy and splash mountain would still be here... sorry that was a though one for me after tower git taken from me...😢 anyways you hit the nail on the head here!
Brickey, think Disney would ever consider putting a show building over an electrofied autopia and re-route the monorail track to open nearly 200k sqft of land in DL? I think it could be a perfect spot for a Frozen land, the old motorboat lake can be the docks, Matterhorn in the Distance can be the north Mountain. I don't the the monorail has a meaningful reason to loop around autopia besides giving some views. With autopia going electric it can be updated to be in doors with both practical and digital decor.
Also, sometimes I feel like the way they design areas, now they design them like they're going to walt disney world. The blessing of disneyland is its compactness, and we don't need these huge gigantic lands with two rides.
If Animal Kingdom is the least popular park in Florida, and everyone is complaining about how small Pandora is, why not expand the FL Pandora? You'd already have a ton of stuff already built already!
First, let me congratulate you on another well put together video. I always enjoy letting my imagination fly along with you. As a Central Floridian, we face our own challenges to our beloved Walt Disney World. Resort. I find it interesting that you are on board with saving the beautiful Grizzly Peak that has no IP and sells little merchandise, yet can make a case for trashing our Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island which finds itself in the same predicament. My real question is, “What age is Disneyland catering to? There seems to be fewer attractions for children and more for preteens to young adults. I thought your video making a case for Tokyo’s Disney Springs/Frozen Kingdom in the Simba parking lot was the perfect idea of melding IP and place making, adding attractions for the younger crowd and their parents(and lots of opportunities to sell merchandise). Just saying.
I do not care what goes in to the Hollywood backlot to replace it, I only care that something worth while fills up that massive amount of space. Monster Inc, a reskin of possibly the worst ride Disney ever created is hardly at the top of my nostalgia list. It can go tomorrow and I wouldn't notice. But I do think Avatar, Avengers and Cars land all lined up is a pretty formidable way to anchor the entire East side of DCA. Then with Coca going in the West side, all that's left is to fix Paradise Gardens and DCA is 100% top shelf, and that's before even expanding across the street.
I love Monsters ride so I have to disagree on it being the worst ride ever. There are so many other rides that are lower on my list. But for Monsters fans this ride is fun. Love the smells and the interaction. It’s what makes Disney rides different from all other theme parks.
@@sticky3038 I said it was a reskin of the worst ride ever (Superstar Limo). I did not say Monsters is the worst ride ever, but it does rank near the bottom. The Hollywood backlot days are numbered.
@@terri_blueberrioriginally they planned to expand avengers campus to the Hollywood backlot area, but now that they showed off a wakanda expansion of avengers campus as part of Disneyland forward; I’m unsure if that means the Hollywood backlot one would be canceled. I also hope it turns out to be decent, avengers campus badly needs a good ride. As for avatar I hope they put it in grizzly peak because it would be hilarious, especially if they turned the grand Californian hotel into the “grand Navi-Dian” hotel 😂
20% of the Simba lot. An Avatar land needs a transition, and the tunnel (or enclosed bridge) across the road would make a perfect transition. It's kind of like walking under the Disney Rail Road to get into Galaxy's Edge. 1/5 of the available space is enough to do the job right while leaving room for other attractions, dining and shopping.
Excerpt from rededication of DCA: “This unique place embraces the richness and diversity of California... Its land, its people, its stories, and, above all, the dreamers it continues to inspire” How does Avatar fit? They spent over A billion dollars to enhance the California theme in 2012, only to erase it completely a decade later. WHY?
The thumbnail associated with this video reads "Fans Don't Want This!" Uh-huh. What "fans" want doesn't matter. Because the company knows that those same fans will continue to show up regardless of where they put Pandora west.
Avatar is great in animal kingdom because florida has a lot of wet nature to it, but here on the west coast... its dry as hell here. Also, its friggin animal kingdom. It synergizes amazingly
@ChienaAvtzon we are not all about beach culture. Venice sure because it's well known. But we are known for our big variety of weather throughout the state.
I think they should get rid of the random place where Goofy's flight school is. Goofy's ride is great and there aren't enough Disney og characters in DCA. But the restaurant area is meh and so that area needs to get redone. Its also at the border of the park.
Goofys sky school should be in toon town realistically. That whole corner of DCA, is a waste. The swings, jellyfish, and zephyrs are barely popular. The jellyfish should be army men to fit the Pixar Theme. It would be nice to breathe more life over there. Maybe extend Pixar to that end. Also I LOVE the little mermaid but it doesn’t fit in DCA, it should be in DL. And the food corner over there, definitely meh.
@@sticky3038 okay! How do we sneak in and move Goofy's flight school? That's a killer idea. But I don't want to replace anything in Toontown. I like the Little Mermaid. It's in SF area and as a Bay Area person I know we have major ties to theater. They have it like a theatre and it fits the vibe theater wise. Army men in stead of jellyfish(Nemo could justify jellyfish) is good with me.
@sticky3038 your missing the issue those things don't fit because disney ip the hell out of that area! Did we for get about little water park that used to tie that area together and Ariel used to fit the same next to what is supposed to be the pacific ocean in San Francisco and paradise pier which is supposed to be santa Cruz so in other words it's was the northern california part of the park hence the giant red woods and grizzly peak... the reason it feels so out of place is because disney screwed up the theme walt would have never stood for this...this I also the same issue with the rise of the guardians... yes tower of terror used to stick out but it also was surrounded by thw Hollywood back lot so it wasn't as terrible but again this all looks like crap now not because it was badly planned or themed at the time it's because disney doesn't care about scenic transition any more it cares about can they make a quick buck on you and get you to pay extra for a web shooter... how this point gets missed is beyond me..
Yes! Give Avatar 0% space! I really don't believe it will stand the test of time and be a wise choice to give up any valuable space. Please, please, please bring us a Villains Land. It can be just as visually beautiful and also brings in beloved characters, which, in turn, will open up the opportunity for unlimited merch! It's also a great link to Oogie Boogie Bash. I believe there's much more emotional connection to all the villains since the very beginning of Disney.
It should be put in the back lots of Hollywood where Monsters Inc is. Keep the Hollywood walkway since Avatar & Avengers are big Hollywood movies. Monsters Inc should be move to the opposite corner of the park by Inside Out, Incredibles and Toy Story
Outside the box idea: Give Pandora the entire Simba lot and give it four major attractions plus multiple dining locations. Let it be expansive with lots of room to explore and wander. Make it its own mini-park with separate admission.
Pandora in the Animal Kingdom in one of the best lands in Disney World and Flight of Passage is hands down the best attraction Disney has in the states. It is a fully immersive world where the Imagineers can go wild and can create new attractions that aren’t tied to one story, just like Flight of Passage storyline isn’t tied to the movies. While it may seem like a strange fit for DCA, Star Wars land amazingly doesn’t take away from the other great lands in the park.
Grizzly Peak & Redwood Creek Trail were one of the few things that stood out to me when DCA opened in 2001. The only change to that area is audioanimatronics should be added to the River Run attraction. That was noticeably missing over 20 years ago, even more so today. The one complaint I can't understand is that an Avatar land would hurt the park's theme. "California" is something I associate with a Six-Flags-type park, so it should be thrown out. Even more so when Tokyo got a park themed the way DisneySea is.
Some might say an Avatar Land inside DCA would be legit. To many, California is already "another world" so Avatar Land would just be an extension. Call it the Berkley District. :-)
An Avatar-Land just doesn't have a 'Disney' vibe. It feels like they're trying to compete with Universals Jarassic Park. It may have made money at the BO, but i know of no actual fan base for this franchise. Most commets i see are people saying how overrated everyone is making it. I think it'll be Galaxies Edge 2.0. A huge failure. The only reason people will visit it is because it exists and there's more rides
I would give enough area for whatever made the Avatar land great. You could give it 50% and still have a huge area for future use, or….. (and don’t fully reject this) adding another DVC resort or hotel, or expanding Downtown Disney.
I would respectfully disagree that DCA still invokes the spirit of California these days. They’ve been regularly changing parts of the park into things unrelated to California, and that’s fine, I think they’ve done it well. Most lands have turned into IP. Carthay Circle and Hollywood Blvd feels more in line with a “Main Street USA”. Backlot is a dead area, I can see that becoming a Monsters Inc land. The only land that truly feels like California still is Grizzly Peak, and because of that it feels sorta like the oddball out now. I wouldn’t be surprised if they changed that area to an IP at some point. Maybe not Avatar, but another IP. Not that I would necessarily like it, but If Grizzly Peak ended up as Avatarland, They could turn ‘Soarin’ into ‘Soarin’ around Pandora’. I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point they also change the name of the park to something like ‘Disney Adventure Park’. I don’t know if California really belongs in the name any more.
A land this ambitious needs space, and even if it's a large percentage of current Simba (say 30-40%), its the only spot that makes any sense to me. Pandora works in AK because it was given the space to be genuinely immersive and isolated. If it doesn't get that in California, it'll forever be seen as shoehorned in instead of the surprise fan-favorite Pandora is in Florida.
Pandora in Animal Kingdom is 10 acres, meaning it is smaller than Cars Land. The Simba lot is not as large as people think, adding only 25 acres more to the park. Hollywood Land is 8 acres, and the bus loop is 4 acres.
I'm gonna keep saying this on every channel that someone says that this ride has no IP and sells no merchandise. Add along the ride UP figures and animatronics. The gift shop can be all wilderness explorer themed or camping or dedicated to california's state parks. Add a UP Meet and greet on the back side of the ride or nearby
I feel like it's going to go in either Hollywood land or the Grizzly River Run area. If I were Disney and were looking to the future and want to make sure to leave room for expansion I wouldn't want to use a big portion of the Simba lot since that would mean Disney is very limited in space to build something new down the line without replacing beloved rides. as much as I love the Grizzly peak area I never ride that ride and hardly anyone is around so Avatar land would definitely bring foot traffic to that part of the park.
It would be way too expensive and complicated to tear down what is there now like refitting Hollywoodland plus to tear out that land would further take away one of the last representations of California in a park that is supposed to be about that state. Grizzley River area is too pretty and cohesive to put it there. I would 100% support to build fresh on the parking lot and use up 30% of the land available there. Hurry and build that garage!!
What about the area south of Avengers Campus and east of Cars Land? There seems to be a big chunk of land there with backstage parking and some warehouses.
1/6 of the land dedicated to Disney land forward. I would like to see six new lands or attractions three for a California adventure, and three for Disneyland.
Avengers campus I call the concrete jungle. Still upset they took out the adorable Bugs Land. What a loss for the kids and families. Disney obviously only cares about $$$$$ and not vibes
Funny how so many complain about the cost to go to Disney, yet expect Disney to develop lands that are 15 acres. Avitar going in Hollywood Land would be just fine. I am not a huge fan of Avitar, therefore walking around a large land is not desirable. But a smaller area with a E ticket attraction would be great. People are forgetting Pandora @ DAK has two rides, Disney has said nothing of multiple rides for DCA. In fact Josh D'Amaro referred to it again using the word "Experience" not "Land". I would like to see Disney do more multi IP lands, that way if you are not a fan of an IP there is something else you might enjoy. Disney's themepark niche has always been appealing to the masses not a small group.
@@handsomeerik8404 LOL How did my comment defend Disney? Universal is just as expensive, they just milk your money in other ways. Universal and Disney are not the same so why are you comparing them?

While I get why some people think that Avatar does not belong in California Adventure….. You have to consider the “California” theme started to get abandoned almost from the start. The whole premise of why Eisner wanted this concept (besides cost) was he thought “tourist” could get a taste of California without leaving the Disneyland Resort, and thus more more money staying with Disney. Lame for sure! Eisner did a lot for Disney but was sort of going off-the-rails at this point (basically his “Chapek” days), after losing so much investment on Euro Disney. I was at the media preview for DCA, as I was for the much more ambitious Westcot project (that’s another story…..). But being DCA was bad socially a ghost town for the first year they knew they needed a quick fix and the was Bug’s Land. So within 18 months the “California” thing was already being changed and it continued ever since. Even “DCA 2.0” with Iger - Buena Vista Street was more about Walt and him coming to California, not really about the state itself. That continued with Little Mermaid replacing the “Golden Dreams” theater, Cars Land, Pixar Pier, and eventually Avenger’s. So really, the California theme has been going through a slow death for years. I think once Avatar comes in that the name of park itself will change as well.
I do hope the title of the park eventually changes just to end this struggle between the original theming and the direction that Disney is taking (more IPs). If it were to change, what kind of name do you think would fit for the park?
@@matthewroman6807 You know they changed the name of the Studios park in Paris to “Disney Adventure” - which I hate because it sounds like an Sig Flags name. But - I could see a similar name here. Not sure what else they could come up with.
I’d be completely fine with Grizzly Peak being rethemed to Avatar if Grand Californian Hotel didn’t exist. However, Grand Californian is my favorite hotel, so I don’t want Grizzly Peak to change.
Hey Brickey, I agree that Avatar does not belong in DCA. One idea I had was putting it in Tomorrowland by taking out the defunct Carousel of Progress building and the very lame and polluting Autopia. That must be enough space and it would abut the Submarine lagoon, which would help to set the Avatar back from other attractions.
Maybe they should focus on Pixar and Marvel right now instead. I commented on OG55 that it might be nice to see a marvel themed roller coaster with a ride system similar to space mountain and rock n roller coaster in the Hollywood Backlot area, as part of a marvel expansion to the park. I’m unaware of a large contingent of rabid fans of the Avatar franchise, although Disney did a nice job at Animal Kingdom
If they put two or three attractions in it, I could see giving 25% of the Simba lot to Avatar but really Coco would be a much better fit for DCA and instead have Avatar connect to Disneyland.
Hollywood backlog should be tethered the Muppets Hollywood backlot. Put Muppet vision back in. Then take both show buildings monsters and the theater together and make the great Muppet movie ride. You can keep animation center and disney Jr. NO AVATAR IN THE BACKLOT.
Didn’t Disneyland buy the road between Katella & Ball; aka Disney Way??? The road way down Walnut to Magic Way would be access way to Grand California Hotel.
DCA should just become a new Hollywood Studios. Makes more sense than wasting money Disney doesn’t have on ruining what might be the last remants of the original California Adventure.
Since Avatar is more of a watery, outdoorsy theme, how about the water world at Lego Land? I’m sure Lego Land could use more visitors and Disneyland has enough non Disney attractions. I know this is far fetched but isn’t it worth considering?
pretty sure we're getting flight of passage at one point in Disney adventure world. nothing else, go course, because this would be to expensive. (I would prefer a European version of soarin tho.)
@@necros2585 the only bad thing is if you put frozen there it would just be wet( because they would have to have a very large freezer) because it gets hot.
If they trash Grizzly Peak for this garbage, they are completely done. Disney just doesn’t know what fans want and clearly don’t know how to build with the same skill and creativity of Imagineering of years past.
So sick and tired of so-called Disney fans claiming to not want “Avatar” at Disney California Adventure. Regardless of where the land goes, it will be gorgeous. Plus, the Shanghai Pirates ride system is exactly what that park needs to elevate it. No other Disney property warrants that type of technology, especially for a boat ride. One does not even need to be a fan of the “Avatar” franchise, to understand the ride will be spectacular. It is something that will help Disneyland reclaim its crown from the Magic Kingdom, as the most attended theme park in the world. You can bet your bottom dollar that Disney would spend $1bil on Pandora. It is going into the current footprint of Disney California Adventure. The Simba lot is not being touched until after 2030, at the earliest. Plus, that parking lot is only 25 acres. PS: Capacity does not equal ride count, it means how many guests can cycle through the park.
Fans don’t want a lot of what Disney is doing these days. Cars in Frontierland (Florida), I’m looking at you. They just don’t think things out anymore, like they’re doing everything on the cheap.

Boom! IP!
Side topic: When DCA opened in 2001, there wasn’t a single ride based on an IP! Let that sink in! Times have certainly changed in the past 20 years…
@tom_reagan ips have destroyed the disneyland resort
Not interested in Avatar inside of DCA. I am interested in a hat designed by Brickey though. If Disney does build an Avatar land hopefully it’s part of Disneyland Forward and they don’t cut any corners. It would be nice in a few years from now we’re all talking about how that Avatar land really beat all expectations.
100%, there is no connection at all with Avatar and Disney. I guess I don't get it or I'm too much of a Donald Duck kinda guy. LOL
I’m super excited about the Avatar stuff for DCA - I think it would fit best in the current parking lot space, but beyond that I’m stoked.
If they get rid of Grizzly Peak then I don’t see why Disney would keep calling that park Disney California Adventure
They need to change it now. that park is nothing what it used to be as far as California theming goes. Its a mess in my opinion.
Zootopia would fit perfectly in Hollywood land and I so want that !! Avatar should be built on simba lot
Disney sure seems to thrive off giving people what they don’t want and never asked for these days. It’s incredible how out of touch they are.
Forreal!!!!!!!!! Agree what is this shyttt lol
@@ChienaAvtzon "Only" 25 acres. Star Wars: Galaxy Edge is 14 acres.
@@carsonfran - 14 acres is over half of 25. Or do you not know math?
This is what I think they should do:
Another fantastic video, keep crushing brother!! #VibesOverRides
Thanks guys!!! Do you know where I’ll be able to find the 60 minute extended cut of this video soon????
Appreciate you for the deep dives and so so so stoked for avatar land! Talking about my favorite place in the world!
Love this. A topic that was fan-inspired and now Brickey-informed. Thanks, Brickey.
Speaking of avengers campus though, I hope they hurry up and start construction on that e ticket ride that they have been promising us for like 5 years now.
Its land, its people, its stories, and, above all, the dreamers it continues to inspire”
How does Avatar fit? They spent over A billion dollars to enhance the California theme in 2012, only to erase it completely a decade later. WHY?
The thumbnail associated with this video reads "Fans Don't Want This!" Uh-huh. What "fans" want doesn't matter. Because the company knows that those same fans will continue to show up regardless of where they put Pandora west.
Avatar is great in animal kingdom because florida has a lot of wet nature to it, but here on the west coast... its dry as hell here. Also, its friggin animal kingdom. It synergizes amazingly
That is exactly why the Pandora at Disney California Adventure will be themed to the second film. California is all about beach culture.
@@ChienaAvtzonclearly you’re not from CA, people who aren’t from here think it’s all about beaches…. WRONG!!
@ChienaAvtzon we are not all about beach culture. Venice sure because it's well known. But we are known for our big variety of weather throughout the state.
Monsters, Inc. should go into Pixar Pier.
Moving monsters Inc and adding coco to Pixar Pier would go crazy
@@necros2585 Not adding Coco. Coco should replace Goofy’s Fly School and Paradise Garden.
Don't care enough about Avatar for that, personally that would be like not expanding DCA at all🤣
It would fail as its own park. People are very meh about the IP.
I also just love grizzly peak
That's the expansion area for Avengers Campus. One, maybe two Marvel rides in that space.
@@wheelindisney5874plus they showed a wakanda expansion of avengers campus as part of Disneyland forward
1/6 of the land dedicated to Disney land forward. I would like to see six new lands or attractions three for a California adventure, and three for Disneyland.
I’m a die hard avatar fan I would 100% go just for that it’s the only reason I go to WDW
Did they offer rides during the D23 presentation, or just an experience?
Hollywood Backlot is where avengers campus is going to expand into though
Avengers campus I call the concrete jungle. Still upset they took out the adorable Bugs Land. What a loss for the kids and families. Disney obviously only cares about $$$$$ and not vibes
Where u got the hat . Are u selling them
The holly wood backlot area where the monsters inc is at… that place is boring, but maybe because I’m from California and grew up going to Hollywood 😂
It's too expensive, stop defending them. Universal is building new attractions & lands yet the price is reasonable.
@@handsomeerik8404 LOL How did my comment defend Disney? Universal is just as expensive, they just milk your money in other ways. Universal and Disney are not the same so why are you comparing them?
@@keganengelke8886 - Hollywood Land is 8 acres, and the bus loop is an additional 4 acres. As you said, that is more than enough space for such an ambitious ride and environment. The Pandora in Animal Kingdom is 10 acres, and this smaller than everyone thinks it is. The Simba lot is 25 acres, and needs to be saved for future projects.
PS: the ride system coming to DCA is larger than the ones used in AK.
@@keganengelke8886 - Ironically, Pandora in Animal Kingdom is only 10 acres. Meaning it is smaller than Cars Land and Galaxy’s Edge. Hollywood Land is 8 acres, and the bus loop has an additional 4 acres. There is only one ride in that area currently, and it has a fraction of the capacity Shanghai’s Pirates of the Caribbean.
That’s what I’ve been saying with Monster Inc it would be great if they do the same here
Zootopia in Hollywood makes sense-even with the Monorail going thru it.

That's how it's labeled on Google Maps and matches their park maps. But I'm glad you said something because it didn't make sense. Thanks
Were can I get that hat bro???
I’d be completely fine with Grizzly Peak being rethemed to Avatar if Grand Californian Hotel didn’t exist. However, Grand Californian is my favorite hotel, so I don’t want Grizzly Peak to change.
Hey Brickey, I agree that Avatar does not belong in DCA. One idea I had was putting it in Tomorrowland by taking out the defunct Carousel of Progress building and the very lame and polluting Autopia. That must be enough space and it would abut the Submarine lagoon, which would help to set the Avatar back from other attractions.
If Avatar has to be, it tucks back there rather well in the parking lot and easy to make nice for the city outside.
100% they should go with the blank canvas. Anything that is meant to look organic should not be shoehorned into an existing space.
I never liked avatar. Hope they leave Grizzly alone. I don't really want it at all
I think it should go no where. It doesn’t fit DCA, we don’t need it. It fit great at WDW, but you are right, the theming just doesn’t fit.
Great insight
I will not understand it if Disney puts an Avatar/waterpark/green space that isn't adjacent to their premium on-site hotel properties.
Brickey did you know that Disney has a recycling water system through the city of LA. So they probably won't run out of water .
Avatar going in hollywood backlot, no question
If they build it in the parking lot then they could potentially build the Flight of Passage ride too. Go big, right.
Soarin'????
You asked why so few people picked replacing grizzly river. I wondered why so many lol
If they put two or three attractions in it, I could see giving 25% of the Simba lot to Avatar but really Coco would be a much better fit for DCA and instead have Avatar connect to Disneyland.
Losing Soarin’ would break my heart. No!!!!!😮😮
Just knock down the boardwalk area! Fill in the pond.
Exactly, Pixar pier is so cheap and lame it really needs to go.
I think they could use up to 50 percent for avatar
35-40% of Simba parking lot, go big or go home. Plenty of space for other things. In DCA, give us a Monsters Inc. land.
I mean disney is worth billions of dollars...just buy more land beside the park...
Hollywood backlog should be tethered the Muppets Hollywood backlot. Put Muppet vision back in. Then take both show buildings monsters and the theater together and make the great Muppet movie ride. You can keep animation center and disney Jr. NO AVATAR IN THE BACKLOT.
I want Grizzly Peak and Hollywood Land to stay at DCA please 🙏
Didn’t Disneyland buy the road between Katella & Ball; aka Disney Way??? The road way down Walnut to Magic Way would be access way to Grand California Hotel.
DCA should just become a new Hollywood Studios. Makes more sense than wasting money Disney doesn’t have on ruining what might be the last remants of the original California Adventure.
Yes they can and probably will spend $1 Billion, after all they just increased prices announced today.
You so need to go to Universal. So much more interesting. Disney sucks these days you know. Your videos are cool but would be cooler at Uni.😊
I would give 25% .
Frozen should go in the Simba lot
They should expand the park period.
Leave the simba lot there and put pandora on stilts over it. Cheaper than a parking garage and bridge.
Fans don’t want a lot of what Disney is doing these days. Cars in Frontierland (Florida), I’m looking at you. They just don’t think things out anymore, like they’re doing everything on the cheap.
Exactly and avengers campus here at California adventure is a good example of how cheap and lazy they have been lately
