I invite you all to imagine. Imagine a merchant, sheltered inside a crumbling chapel, sitting by the fire. He picks up his instrument and begins to play, and soon, a song filled with sorrow and longing gets carried by the wind. Atop the peaks of Mt. Gelmir, the song reaches the ears of another merchant, who joins into the play. And so does another merchant amidst the lakes of Liurnia. And another in the rotten plains of Caelid. For but a single night, the Lands Bewteen is blessed with an enchanting orchestra. For but a single night, the nomadic merchants do not feel so alone. For but a single night, they remember what it is to feel home.
That reminds me of a scene from the first Wings of fire book. A similar thing happens, only its with a bunch of prisoners singing together. Reading this comment has given me fond memories.
When you realize Shabriri basically spread so much defamation about the Nomadic Merchants that Queen Marika herself ordered their persecution and imprisoned them in Leyndell Sewers, without trial but with full-on prejudice. Because Shabriri knew they would be desperate and offered them help - in form of Frenzied Flame.
@@SariaAK Even more fucked when Marika just left the merchants to rot and be buried despite Shabriri getting punishment. The Golden Order didn't care about the wrongly accused at all. They didn't even try freeing them from the catacombs
@@lorenzorodriguez9481 Because that would tarnish both Marika and the Golden Order, so Marika would not let herself be sullied as she was a god and Raddagon would not let the Golden Order be sullied. Yes I know I made a Elden Ring pun.
You say the Jewish genocide because that’s likely the only one you know about, I can assure you this kind of persecution is standard to any genocide within History, not just this specific one.
I honestly wasn’t expecting a full orchestral rendition! For a song you only ever hear the first few notes of from the merchant, you’ve added so many emotions to it while still keeping the feeling and sound of the original! Serious talent!
"They think that we worship the three fingers, that WE called the maddening sickness down upon them. Well if that's what they expect from us, THEN THATS WHAT THEY SHALL GET FROM US!" - Kalé
"Ah, tarnished...I didn't hear your approach. What can I do for you?" >About the song "The music I was playing? It's a song that's been in our people for generations. Taught to us in our dreams by St. Trina supposedly. Do you like it?" >Yes no "haha, yes, quite comforting isn't it? Well you're welcome to rest here any time you like. My fire is always open to you."
It makes you wonder what the days of the Grand Caravan was like, like if there were times when merchants from across the Lands Between shared a song around warm kindling.
I can feel the pain in this merchants legs. imagine the horrors he has seen, traveling these lands, far and wide. and still, despite everything, he remains, a humble merchant for weary travelers, such as yourself. great rendition. was fun watching you make this.
You feel even worse when you realize most of the merchants were gathered up and buried alive under Leyndell. The monsters you encounter down there are what's left of them
Came back to this vid after the DLC announcement. Because the art for the DLC show Miquella on it, and that reminded me that the lore states Miquella visited the Merchants in their dreams, as St. Trina, and sung this song to comfort them which is where they got it from. So if we end up having to fight Miquella/St. Trina for whatever reason in the DLC I really hope some rendition of this will be the boss music. That would just be so perfect!
@@jamlizard3800 It was from the Merchant Kale questline that was cut from the game. The nomadic tribe called Trina "St. Trina Of The Cradlesong" Not only did the song comfort them in their time of harship, but it also magically cures Frenzied Flame affliction.
The first merchant that was playing a song I found was in lingrave, as I approached the merchant I recognised the song, it belongs to German and Lady Maria, such a good theme that can’t be parried.
It's not funny enough, its a very commonly used progression apearently. But i know how you feel, when i head it in game it instantly shot me back to gehrman, only for me to find out it wasnt. Doesnt make it sound any less good.

I love the way you're adding to these already amazing works of music. It feels like you listened to the story the music was telling you, and giving your own interpretation of that story and responding to it with your own sound. Making this beautiful conversation between the original composer and yourself.
I just found this for the first time, and clicked it by mistake. IT WOULD'VE BEEN A MISTAKE TO NOT LISTEN. I turned my speakers up, and let this song play loudly. This is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us. I'm listening to it multiple times now.

Inspired by Gherman, you remember that friendly old man? Who wanted to make sure we find the cure and leave that horrible nightmare and himself behind… I think there is something about being identified as a villain. There are people in our world who may not be villains because they are truly villains, some are just as innocent as us, but since the world wants to make them villains, they became villains.
Interesting POV, it is true that the world around us defines us eventually, but people also have some deep nature hidden inside them that will push them in the direction of good or evil...
Sad as it would be this'd fit a Kale boss fight if he forced you into it. Would never want to hurt the guy. But imagine this. His niche weapon would be a bag of holding. He start wiping shit out at you. Piano? Boulder? Horse and buggy? Hell a dragon would shock the living shit out of everyone. He's not much a fighter, but he'll give you a fight worth remembering. He is a merchant after all.
I already knew about the song before I actually heard it in game for myself. When I finally found a merchant who was playing it I just stood there listening to it for a while. The first bit definitely sounds like Gehrman's theme, but the second half is, of course, quite different. It sounds enough like it that I always have my character sit down and listen to it for a while. I love this remix of it.
Oh man I’ve never been this early to an Alex Roe upload. Absolutely beautiful just like everything else! I really like that it maintains this sort of sense of simplicity even with the layering of all the instruments. It makes it feel like a longing for something that once was.
This is repetitious AF, but man did it low key break me. Prior to finding this gorgeous remix, I had created an anime chr due to personal reasons and in learning to play a particular piece of music that associates with said chr, I am currently going through and emotional state at present, so this video greatly attributed to this. The vibe I get from this is that it is beautiful, sorrowful and mournful. It speaks to the heart and to this very day, is the first souls/souls-like game music to ever illicit these emotions in me. To add to this, I am glad to have found this merchent in game, guess I am lucky to have found this much later. The most beautiful song I have heard, also within the aforementioned above and I thank you for this posting as I am currently doing some Rune farming at me next boss, while I am inturn learning it for meself. Thx again, props to the person who made the remix, but also the people involved in the actual soundtrack of Elden Ring. This game changes everything!
I find the repetition makes it sound like a cycle that keeps getting worse, and the tragedy in the sorrowful music only gets amplified, for a cycle makes that tragedy inevitable.
Honnestly the first time I saw Kale I thought he was fishing with this thing 😂 It was only when I arrived at the bridge that I realized and told my buddy "Wait this was an instrument???"😂😂😂
