  • In this video we are installing a 1200 gallon tank and septic system, showing the steps and how to build it properly. We are using a cat 305 mini excavator and a case tv 450 skid steer for the dirt work. we used 2 inch minus leech rock, for the drainage field. Most people know what a septic system is but here is a short description. Septic systems are underground wastewater treatment structures, commonly used in rural areas without centralized sewer systems. They use a combination of nature and proven technology to treat wastewater from household plumbing produced by bathrooms, kitchen drains, and laundry.
    Here are a few products to help out your septic system.

On the side of the septic we filled up with big stones and gravel and it pushed the septic in so we have to remove everything out. Tomorrow we will backfill with soft gravel and cover the septic. Once again thank you.

      You could definitely do that, but not totally necessary, just as an example you could flush 30 toilets at the same time into a 4 inch line and not plug it.

    • @SolidworksUnlimited
      @SolidworksUnlimited  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      For a 5 bedroom home, make a note that if their is a nook or library, storage room, any room that could be turned into a bedroom they will add it as another bedroom just so you know, but 5 bedroom you'll need a 1500 gallon system minimum. The leach field is dependent on your soil, which has to be tested to measure its ability to absorb water etc. Super difficult to give you an accurate price without knowing all the variables, slope of the ground has a big to do with price, is there room to place extra dirt or will it have to be hauled away, most companies will have a rock clause in their estimate which is if they hit bedrock its extra cost, I'll tell you this it will be between 12k to 25k ish and I'm sorry it's so vague but it's impossible to get it accurate with the information I have. I've seen a lot that was so small and it was close to a river and you have to be 100 ft away he couldn't even build a system on the lot, so he bought a lot paid dearly for it and it was worthless to build on, so due diligence is real, be careful, sometimes only a 1 bedroom house can fit the system. Just be aware is all I'm saying, not trying to discouraged you from buying.

    Why is there only one riser on the main tank and why only on the water exit end?
    Doesn't there need to be a riser on the inlet end of the main tank to provide occasional pump out access?

    • @SolidworksUnlimited
      @SolidworksUnlimited  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This tank doesn't have a baffle in the middle of it and that's all that is required by the health department, there's really no need unless you just wanted to look down it for a piece of mind to make sure you got it all when pumping it out, which will take place once every ten years I only do it if the health department requires it, which is only on tanks with a baffle.

    • @SolidworksUnlimited

      If the plastic tank runs out of water from non use and gets low it can cave in, especially if someone drives on it, plastic tanks are not meant to be driven on or over. I agree concrete tanks are better, but not always available and more expensive, in this case I gave the owners options and told them the pros and cons. My brother had a 1500 gallon, round, hard plastic septic tank installed underground for his 3 bedroom home...about 30 years ago! The reason I say this is because his home was financed for 30 years and he had the round, septic tank installed when his home was finished being built. He paid his home off about 2 years ago. His septic tank is still going strong...after 30 years! Now, he does not let anyone drive or park over it. He has had it pumped out several times over the 30 years but it was done at a normal rate of every 10 years or so. You must realize that products made 30 years ago were made to last. They were made of better quality and lasted. Nowadays, everything is cheaply made! Things just don't last like they use to because they are made of far less quality. I'd bet my last dollar that if you were to purchase a round, hard plastic, septic tank today, you wouldn't get NEAR 30 years out of it!
