Those eccentric collars inside the spider box make it simple to set the grade on those lateral feeds. I’ve never had the luxury of using them. But have tussled with shimming and sealing instead. It makes sense to dig the outer walls first… there is a similar operation in woodworking. A square mortising chisel can be used to make rectangular slots. However if you don’t cut out the ends of the slot before cutting the middle out, the workpiece or the chisel will drift toward the void. Learned that on the first bedroom suite that I made. I spent more time squaring the ends of the mortises with a hand chisel, than I did cutting them with the machine! Boss man the install came out splendid!
Another part of the build done!! Nicely done Mike. Where’s your helper? Max needs to start shooting grades with you🤗 Great video, keep them coming, looks like we are dropping temp’s a little this upcoming week, hydrate, and keep a hat on👍🇺🇸
Looks great Dirt Boss the only thing I seen that they make us do here in Southwest Missouri is they have us install a clean out between the house and tank other than that it's all the same.👍
Yes the fresh air vent goes in the house then out the roof.. or the side whatever is designed.. the clean out is also designed with a trap inside the house right before exits the foundation
@@DIRT-BOSS Thank you for the response. So in short, that roof vent is enough to supply air all the way to the leach field since you don't have any vent by the tank or leach field?
@@capablemanyathi2965 each system is different designed usually we don't put fresh air vents outside the house that's all I can tell you that's how the engineers design them here but you have to check with your local codes and engineer
Canny job there Dirt Boss!!! Pity to go pro didn't go, obviously too hot for it to work 🤷♂️🥵🤦♂️ Think you may have dug holes once or twice, Digginok would agree that this is the best way to excavate, but he would use his backhoe !!!!
Mike as i said in previous message My perc test failed and i have to truck in good gravel..My property slopes away from the cabin at about 5% so at about 100 ft from cabin I am 3 feet lower .not sure what to do here !!! I was going to dig a little and mound a little to get to what i needed ... any help would be appreciated thanks Michael
I've subscribed Mike, Q. I have a leach line trench @ 54" Deep, w/ 13" stone that would put my leach line at @ 48" deep, will I need to set my D box @ 48" deep as well or do I use 90ies off of the header lines to get down to the 48" deep leach lines? I hope that makes sense. Thanks for your advice
They don't require a two way clean out by the house.? Do you have water to fill the tank with? Just asking Dirt Boss Man. Not being a smart ass.😁😎 Looking good.👍
@@DIRT-BOSS Thanks for replying. I watched the whole video today and you gave all kinds of good information but that was the one thing that didn’t make the video. The reason I was asking is I hired someone to do a leach field which they did but never covered it with dirt. The man who got paid for the job has past on with no one to finish the work. I have to put dirt on the leach field and not sure how much to put. Thanks again.
@@Michael-sx6zq okay this video was this year I got confused that was a conventional septic system.. not sure if you're septic systems the same Stone and pipe conventional but if it is you only need 6 -8 in of dirt coverage over the stone..
Just because code says only 10' off of the house it's always better to go at least 20'. Having a septic tank too close to the house is not a good thing.
I agree, I want my tanks as far away from the house as possible. Don’t want the tank in the yard next to the house. Also in Texas you have to have risers extending 4” above grade with green lids on each tank/chamber and definitely don’t want those right in the way.

Love the stickers on the skidsteer! Going to have to add some in that spot now!
Top notch work, and always educational !!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, God bless !!!
Amazing the amount of work needed for sewage disbursement. Great to watch.
Thanks check out the playlist under septic videos for more detailed if interested
Appreciate the POV Boss
You sure know how to dig DirtBoss 😉❤️
Yeah, BEST part is "you both" DIG each other so much!!!
You sure do dig a neat and clean hole.
Legit clean install. Great job.
Very well done Mike👍🏻
Such a pleasure to watch you work.
Nice job 👍. I like that dirt . Can’t remember the last time I was able to dig a perfectly square hole like that . 😂
No doubt I hear you sand it's easy to dig but doesn't stay straight!
@@DIRT-BOSS no it’s terrible. Always big over digs !

Sunday morning DB motivation! I’m back on site getting it done!

It was a cool tank delivery truck, get a shot of it next time
Yes I have several videos in my septic videos with that truck in it check it out in my playlist
Really good job 👍
Great job
Thank you.
What's a go pro 🤣🤣🤣....it ain't Easy being Easy 🤠👍😃
Getting it done during the heat wave
When you were backfilling the side opposite the house I saw one of the inlet holes still open…how do you cap the unused holes in the tank or do you?
Yes our tanks have rubber gaskets that need to be cut.. so that side was black solid
I use a 3’ bucket, goes great for tank and quick connect 4 chamber
You made it look great and easy work tho man! I couldn’t imagine having to deal with it in the snow. It just gets real hot and humid down in GA
Been missin ya
Well done, Dirt Boss! Man, was that dirt DRY. Frustrating to have all that time lapse footage fail to record.
Very Dry!
If you had an elevation issue why didn't you set the tank deeper or increase the slope down to the D box
Typically the tank can't be buried more than a foot
Başarılar dostum 👊
For septic tanks and leach bed what size excavator do you think is ideal?
5-10 ton
Dirt Boss, when you’re laying out your lines, how do you make sure the lines are square and 45’s are actual 45 degrees?
Hey nice tip about digging the sides first to get nice straight edges. Do you only do it like that if it's hard ground though?
Yeah if the ground is soft it's okay to dig normal
@@DIRT-BOSS thanks man

Go in my playlist I have several septic videos
Does new york require a septic design before install? I didn't see any plans. Just curious
Yes it has to be engineered
mike are the trunk lines coming from the d box sloped ?? if so how much thanks
You usually follow your grade but yes you need minimum 16th per ft

Yes you can leave D box alone and lower your lines to the field
is there anything that says you cant fill the septic tank with water to avoid it floating?
That would work
Why do you use pipe rather than chambers for your drain field?
Because
1) it's engineered that way
2) it's a third of the cost
