    Great video . Went through everything very thoroughly.
    There is also a cheat method too, without removing all panels. Undo all the screws, like before, then remove both black panels on the sides and infront of the tank by the handlebars. Then use string to pull back the 2 painted side panels and tie it so they are held open. Now you can remove the tank

    Hey NW Adventure Rider, I can't thank you enough for a great little instructional video. I was planning to pull the tank to change the air filter. Clearly I want to change the spark plug at the same time. It is not difficult job after watching your video, but there are many more fasteners to remove then I would have expected. Nicely done.

    FYI you can get the front cylinder plug out and the valve cover off without completely removing the radiator, you can GENTLY tie the radiator up out of the way with the hoses still on. Its a good way to find out if you need new hoses; if they're old and brittle they'll break and spill coolant everywhere. I've done this to change plugs and check valves, I think it would have to come all the way off if you had to adjust a valve though.

    I appreciate the video, gives me an idea of what Im getting into when it comes to a new V-Strom-to-me that I'm looking to pick up in the next little bit! Sure is more complicated to change an air filter than my old KLR, but I think it's worth the extra steps to step into the land of fuel injection! haha. Thanks again, and I appreciate you didn't do the 'quick tank removal' as seeing how it all comes apart is appreciated.

    Very helpful video and thank you for posting it. I would have got hung up on those clips too. I recently bought a used DL650 that has 24000 miles and am getting ready to change the plugs and air filter.
    Since it is somewhat of a hassle I purchased NKG Iridium plugs that last 100K miles and a K&N air filter that requires cleaning every 50K. Hopefully the performance will be a bit better than the stock parts too :)

    You don't need to remove the fairings.
    Just remove the side black covers with the one screw and the two pins.
    Then remove the Allen screws from the sides of the fairing and then the long screw that holds the tank frond end the single screw rear.
    Unplug the wire connector the breath hose and the fuel line.
    Then push the fairing to the side and drug out the tank and it's done.
    Don't worry about the fairing it is elastic enough to do the job.
    Since 2005 i have my strom i do the same procedure and never had issues with the fairing.
    I don't want to be wiseass,i just want help from a complicate procedure.
    It is much easier and faster.

    Well, it was named Dirt Rider Magazine's 2013 Bike Of The Year. I think it would be a very good bike for the off-road rider. The only issue I could see would be the lack of bolt on "adventure" rear (such as panniers). The only other issue I could see would be how light it is. On the highway you will be getting blown around badly. I would not rule out the XR650L. Let me know if you have a chance to ride them and what you think.

    The OEM part number for the line is 15810-06G01 (replaces 15810-06G00) and you can order it online for about $40. Dose it leek when running or sitting or both? Can you tell where it is leaking at all? You should head over to my Facebook page so I can send you links and photos.

    After owning my Strom for a few years now, I'll go ahead and say it. You WILL break the clips. They're plastic, plastic drys out etc, it happens. Just go somewhere like Amazon and get a package of 20 or 30 8mm clips.
    Can you guys make a vid showing how to replace the spark plugs on the Strom?

    • @sethbrown9197
      @sethbrown9197 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The o-rings should not have come out of the line. It sounds like they were dry and stuck to the tank fitting. You may need to replace the line.

    • @nicklittle626
      @nicklittle626 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmm thanks. Makes sense. I couldn’t find anything online. So the o-rings are meant to stay inside the line itself I assume and hence why the line wont fit back on?

    • @sethbrown9197
      @sethbrown9197 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nicklittle626 Yes, the black plastic part that snaps over the metal pipe has o-rings in it. I assume that's where they came from.
