    I think if you are going to plan in microbe rich soil you need to let it callus. Otherwise your plant will just pull bacteria up with the water and rot. Seems to me like that's why the potting soil and manure didn't work.

    Hey great video! I found a snake plant my neighbor must have thrown out. Most of the leaves were completely dead except two that appear to be healthy as they are green and firm. No roots just leaves. I cleaned them off properly and will cut them at the bottom of each to ensure a nice fresh sterilized start and try rooting in water, hoping to save them. Do I need to let it sit and callus a few days before placing in water or can put it in right away? Thanks!

    • @AdelaBespejo
      @AdelaBespejo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jackie, I would not personally recommend it because there are many factors that may affect the growth of the plant. Soil is just one of them, these are sunlight, water quality, watering schedule, and more. I would suggest that you try first before you decide what soil to use. But in my experience, which is featured in this video, garden soil is the one that grew faster. :)

    How many days did it take before you checked for roots?

  • @HamsterLife_EnglishLearning
    @HamsterLife_EnglishLearning 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It is also how you water it. Each potting mix you used they need different kind of watering frequency. So this is not a fair comparison. I had mine rooted in regular potting soil with %40 perlite and 10 percent coco coir and it rooted in 5 weeks. Under grow lights in winter 24 hrs at 65 watt led full spectrum and a sprinkle of water each day around the roots until it took root. Just enough for the leaf not the whole pot. Once it has roots then you water whole pot.

      Hi Jude, In this video comparison, I only used natural soil medium without any mixture. :)

      Based on my experience, it may be the water level, because it is soaking the half of the leaves. The water should be only touching half an inch to the plant. Only the area where the roots will developed not the entire half of the plant. I hope this will work, thanks momo and good luck, please give us some updates :)

      Hi, First off, I congratulate you for successfully propagating snake plants and creating new baby snake plants through leaf cuttings. As long as the roots are sturdy and enough, you can transfer to a pot with soil.
