Onetigris is the first tent company that I turned to, after realizing that I was getting too old to build a lean to, or A frame every time I spent a week in the woods. When I got the Black Orca Smokey Hut, I was in love. And, I really like this tent here: I think that I would have it configured the way you had it. I think it's going to do great on your review! Stay safe out there and God bless!

Love the versatility! Reminds me of my old walrus trecker tarp. This one is taller. I've been seeking a replacement for years! I think this is it! Great for desert and mountain camping where mosquitoes really aren't an issue.

I bought the OneTigris Bungalow 2.0 after you reviewed it and I love it. It withstood one of the heavy rains we had here recently...Hurricane Isaias. I would think that due to the greater expanse of tent material in the Roc Shield it could be an issue with heavy rain and snow. However, as you suggested, angling the poles could promote run-off. Snow would definitely present you with weight bearing problems motivating you to constantly scrape or beat the interior walls to shake the snow off. It's still an awesome looking shelter and I especially like the second configuration you set up. I can already envision an overland camping set up where you can place table, chairs, a cot under the "awning" and you just kick back and enjoy a BBQ/fire pit just beyond the edge of the awning. Awesome review, Luke, and I'll be anxiously awaiting the results of the prolonged rain test. I bought one of those straw folding mats that Walmart sells and based on your measurements I believe it would fit in the tent floor area. I use this mat under an Aqua Quest 10X10 tarp allowing me to walk around with socks on or even bare feet; and I can hop out of my hammock and not worry about touching dirt or wet ground. When I get home I just drape it over my back fence and it'll dry out in an hour or so after hosing it off. No worries about splinters, rocks or ants. Your taking the time to actually measure lengths, widths and heights is an incredible aid to us who are concerned about these measurements. It really helps us in the decision process...so, thank you for that. If I recall I believe you are the only reviewer who does that.

I own two under quilts for hammock camping by one Tigris. Great price for the product. $50 vs $200 from other companies. I’m not spending a fortune for a few weeks of camping each year. Happy to see one tigris making a name for themselves. I would recommend their under quilts

I love that they're trying something new. Although for me, I would probably take a big tarp for the 3 pounds it weighs...
Those stake loops can be easily fixed with small loops of shock cord - do that to a lot of my gear, especially inners.

That way you have it setup is so spacious. I grew up fishing in upstate NY in the fall...random pop up showers and squalls up that way i guess because of the lake effect. That would be cool to have near a fire with some camp chairs underneath to get dry in a hurry without everyone having to button up in their tents. We would use tarps and things but it was always difficult to find good tie offs at the campground and if the wind picked up it wasnt much help anyway.

That looks like it would be great for back country base camping in a spruce grove. I usually only go in about 2 to 4 miles for base camping, so the weight would be heavy, but doable. I could walk around easily under that. Looking forward to test night.

I’d have 2 long poles in the main tent and 1 for the porch area but lower than the main area ,

Giving it an almost zero steer foot print .
    Strength true and honour .

  • @RV-ardvark

This tent almost appears to be a high tech, very versatile tarp. The size and versatility is impressive. However, being a summer only tent, for the most part, the lack of bug netting would be an issue for me. Although netting can be added, having it integrated would be much more convenient and perform better than an adhoc addition of secondary netting. I understand that having integrated netting would create significant limitations to the tent's versatility and add complexity to the tent's design, but I would sacrifice some versatility for the comfort and setup ease provided by integrated netting.

A reasonable flexi-pitch basic tent selling within a basic tent price range. I need an inclosed tent with a no-see-um screen and a bathtub floor to start to be impressed...because those protections make me emotionally and physically comfortable outdoors. I AM IMPRESSED by the amount of space under shelter! Your tips about changing the poles up to alter the roofline point to a benefit about not having every set of poles shock-corded. This is also IMPRESSIVE for those of us who might deploy it over a raised bed. NEW WRINKLE ON AN OLD BROW: I make reinforced frames for this type of tent using PVC plumbing pipes and associated joints: extra ribs help to maintain the cover geometry and to provide snow load support. DOWNSIDE: a level pitching surface is required, such as a platform built on a favorite site.

When I was in scouts 50 + years ago we used to do something similar with our heavy canvas wall tents, extra poles and a couple of tarps. We were endlessly finding ways to make totally new tent designs out of the materials we had. This is a very similar concept. I like this tent because it allows the user to adapt to his or her needs. Kids could have a ball with this camping. They could make it big enough to hold several friends at one time.

This seems like it’s big enough that I can fit my motorcycle (Moto Guzzi V7) under the awning to protect it front the elements. Do you think the Outback would do well with what I’m looking for, or should I be looking at this one? Lots of versatility here, just not sure about the size. Looks like it would work well for truck camping but not so much for the backpacker. I'm not into UL so much but 7 lbs seems a bit excessive; my current multi-purpose is about 2.5 lbs and sometimes that feels a bit heavy. I do like the "outside the box" design but I can't see who their target market might be. Maybe truck campers on weekend getaways?

Good review- impressive versatility and roominess BUT the lack of screening is a deal breaker for me. As you say, it can be added- but it's not an inexpensive tent as is.....also I'm not sure what role it fills- it's certainly too bulky for backpacking, and if I'm car camping there's all sorts of options which seem to me to be better and cheaper.

Weight? Clearly too big to backpack far. Versatility sometimes lends itself to poor performance anywhere, although you seem favorably impressed. Seems his would be fine for truck camping if it is a good product. I have concerns about how much water it will soak up in a big, long term rain, even if it is water proof. I wonder what the weight difference would be before and after the rain? That’s a lot of material to hump. Texas

Interesting... not sure I'd get one though. Size and weight seem to make it a "car camping " kind of tent. And on top of that it is limited to calm weather, minimal rain, minimal bugs, type of situation. So while it may be versatile in setup, it seems to me to be limited in applications, which FOR ME, is a deal breaker. There are plenty of other car camping type tents that offer better protection from elements and bugs AND easier setup. While they are definitely heavier in weight, in a car camping situation, the additional weight is worth the easier setup and better protection. I definitely don't see this as being lightweight enough or compact enough to make it desirable for backpacking. I'm not sure where it would fit in my personal gear rotation but... that's just me

When are you going to come out with your own tent, like a lot of the you tube bushcraft people have their own knife? If you were to commission one company to produce the "TOGR shelter system", who would you want to build it?

Very cool versatility! But at 160 bucks and have to find a bug screen...i would have to stay traditional. That said, I like the setup uniqueness!

Weird little thing. To me, it's more of a tarp than a tent. But as you say, with bug mesh it could be a laugh in the summer. But too heavy as an all in one solution. On that, Luke, when might you review something like a Hubba hubba Solo? I'd love to see your views on them, especially as I have one :D

It’s nice but a little too much for what I use one for. Great for atv or car camping with another person. Plenty of room and gear storage that way. I will stick to my backwoods bungalow2.0.

IMO , it is too heavy for what you get . Just get a lightweight tarp , and you can be much lighter and still use a bug net or a tent inner . Each his own . But not for me . Oh , for winter ?! Never happen G.I. !!! Stay safe out there .. gubs

Hiya hope you are well. Like the set up on this and thanks for explaining the options. Did you do one of your full reviews on this? My son was gifted one of these and now I am starting camping when lockdown ends so I just wanted to know your thoughts on it. I am an old git and would like some warmth to get me through the night 😂
All the best and love your videos 👍

It looks great, but i struggle to see how its defined as a tent. It looks more like a super engineered tarp. Too many weaknesses. Bugs, Snakes, lack of air flow when zipped up, nothing to stop water from seeping across the ground. Am i missing something? Unless it has additional accessories, you need another tent to put inside it.

I am waiting for the full review before getting one, As a tarp/awning for car/van camping this would be almost perfect. But no bying till you try to break it

A tarp... looks like it would be great if you come across a bug-free, rain-free, perfect climate location. But it looks like another tent would be necessary to make it truly useful.

Onetigris tried to get me to buy another copy of their product after I left bad review on amazon. Sorry if something isn't as advertised I will call you out on it. I'm not going to spend my own money to see if you fixed the problem.

I love the design but that size/weight XD But it's still really awesome. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome review as usual. The tent however is not my thing. The weight, wind challenge, lack of a bug net, and the set up fussiness are turnoffs. But it depends on how you want to use it. A lighter simpler tent works for me.

I see it as a fun and fancy tarp setup or rainfly rather than a tent. I guess that is why they call it a bushcraft tent. I don't want to have to put up a bug-tent inside my supposed "tent". Ground runoff water from the rain will flow right through it and you will hopefully be on another tarp that you will be trying to keep the water off of, or hey, put up a real tent with a floor under this tent. Snakes, mice, ants, and other crawly things will love getting under this with you.

Luke to tell the truth first i thank it looks pretty good and a person can put it to what's livable and just looking and watching you put it together I'm starting to like but this right now but you haven't been able to really test it out but this is my thoughts.
And thanks for the show and tell keep cool and peace to you all. ✌

Looks good for car-camping because of the weight. The lack of any kind of apron inside is a concern. I can see it being cold inside in any sort of breeze or even light wind.
