As someone with anxiety and depression, art is one of the best things to help me get through a rough day. I've been on the verge of a panic attack but then as I start drawing, my brain has something else to focus on and I can relax. Art really is a life saver
Change the way you live Annika, that's the only way out. Working on it now myself. Sad thing is I can't enjoy creating artsy things in this transformative process, but I bet it's temporary. Don't lie in it longer than necessary. Do something about it, start with little things, it'll serve as proof that you can change the big things. Because you can, you just have to start working on it and keep doing that. It's worth it.
I sometimes will watch/listen to Thich Nhat Hanh videos in which he teaches ways to cultivate peace and compassion. Plum Village has a yt channel where one may find many of these videos. TNH's presence and way of speaking alone will put me at ease. He died in January of last year, 2022. The Village is carrying on his teachings and his inspiration. 🪷 Thank you, Peter, as well for your teachings and inspiration.
Very Very interesting about the effects Dome with Skching drawing Books.Boutfully Drawing Sketches also Creative thinking about Vizlistion preacatical effects of the Sketch interesting effects View'.anyway I wanted Reference used for Books. I have an anxiety condition. When I am confronted with several commitments within a few short days I tend to do nothing, or maybe attempt a sketch in the countryside. I avoid all stressful situations. Yet I am extremely content with life. Cheers Peter. Keep up your fabulous work.
Since my father passed away last year, I've spent more time staring at unfinished work than I have creating anything new. There's a lot to unpack there, but life is so busy I've no time to deal with old luggage. I just keep packing new bags. Gets heavier and heavier.
They say you to have go through it to get past it. Hopefully I didn’t mess that up. Going through something similar, I really hope that you can take some time to unpack a bag or two. Please be good to yourself as these things have a way sneaking back up. I see someone via zoom which makes it easier to fit into your schedule.
I've been on a 3 day kick binging Peter's older videos like his pyrography, nature reviews and painting playlists and I realized that since I've started watching Peter's videos a few years ago my life is noticeably better because of him. All that from a few videos. Imagine what it's like being friends with him?
Hi Peter, I'm going to try growing some papyrus to make my own paper, I will send you some if I'm successful. I hope your back is feeling better. Thank you for sharing, big hugs. C.
4 years ago you released drawing your feelings and i feel like you give context to that video and why we should do it if we don’t know how to handle things
Hey Peter. I think alot of people including me would love a part 3 of you drawing your feelings on sticky notes. I keep coming back to these 2 videos whenever i feel panicky. Theyre super relaxing and comforting. Would love to see you continue that! Cheers
I find the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh very helpful in life, and I hope you continue to as well. I saw him speak at Plum Village several years ago, and also on UK tours. I enjoyed this sketch very much, thanks, Peter.
I used to have the same problem when trying to decide what to do. Eventually I somehow changed my thinking and now if I start to regret not choosing something else I think about how there could be a me in another universe who had less fun or learned less because they chose differently
Sometimes with hard choices it's easy to focus on what you missed out on but I try to think of it like "I got to do the thing I picked and I enjoyed it!" Or if I didn't enjoy it then "I chose this thing that was subpar but I learned from it!" 😁
Hullo Peter, I do enjoy your videos and your drawings are just wonderful! Thank you for continuing to be a source for entertainment but of JOY as well! Joy in Art and life too! I do hope yourdoing well and have discovered happiness in the things that your doing. Be well Sir, Thanks!
This is great! I love that you talk about all the other benefits of art. It's great to have a cool doodle in my sketchbook after I'm done, but just the image of that doesn't capture all the amazing other benefits I get from sitting down and spending the time and brain to make it happen.
I've made choices like you describe here Peter. I've thought about it like that when I'm not sure.. like I consciously focus on what I might regret more, or whether I'd regret at all... and kinda feel it out that way. I have always thought I'm somewhat unique in that, or like maybe very few people think like I do when choosing. it's kinda cool to see someone describe making a choice that way, even if you had the unfortunate circumstance of having multiple regrettable options.
3:25 Oh that's it! 😍 And Tár, as a musician I've been so wanting to see that. It's only just come out in Australia but nowhere near me in theatres, and so expensive here online.
Love the Drawing, love the rambling too. Like the teabag, your rambling, your drawing is is all the same to me..its only having the time & moments to see it & be with it.. Your pen line is you journey, sometimes it's hard, sometimes it flows.. Hope that doesn't sound pretentious.. Thanks for sharing your thought..doodle on..👍🏻
Thanks for the great drawing-sketch-doodle and for hitting the nail on MY head 😵💫 The thing with meditation is that it's only worthwhile if you do it every day. The same for drawing, practicing the piano... Now, what do you do when your apartment is at the dying stage of neglect, dirt and mess, and you don't know where to start and you know it's going to take at least two days of cleaning and futile fighting against chaos and entropy, so that your mind is at last, for a short while, free to create, and this situation makes you, like, FROZEN? I must start meditating every day again.
Peter, I have played my thoughts just like you I think, into a guitar my Dad gave me for my birthday when I was like 9 years old. I will be 70 in May. It has served me as a well of Zen Peace and understanding. Prayer helps when I have a weekend like yours was. And then the Guitar is there for the physical thing that also washes my thoughts into balance. My daughter shared your channel with me a couple years ago. You are wonderful. She is an artist. I have also been employed as an artist. It's that simple and also a language of it's own. Thanks for your gift of sharing with us all in this wonderful and unique way. Thanks.
I want an A5 size book filled with your artwork, printed on high quality paper, so I can use as a coloring book to use with my fountain pens. What do you say?? Ready, go!
Hey Peter, if you plain to make a drawing lesson book i'll pay for that. A book, about pattern, light and shadow, tips to achieve some stuff, pointillisme, let you hand find the right flow, etc. A lot of your techniciens.
Nice drawing, nice intro, nice fingernail 👍 I was reading something the other day about the Mars Pathfinder robot having trouble executing tasks as it was putting so much processing power into figuring out what to do rather than doing things and getting overwhelmed. It's called thrashing. It's very relatable. Thích Nhất Hạnh shared so much great wisdom. There's a lot of videos here on youtube, Plum VIllage has a channel. Can we see more of that fidget spinner thing in a future video?
When I'm caught up in useless thoughts I just use the mantra 'I am not the past, I am not the future' which I got from Sadhguru, if I remember correctly. Works pretty well.
You can't be in 2 places at once,, and that happens often, but maybe you can make a plan for an alternative rsvp that might even be more preferable to the original event.
Does anybody know, if all the Sakura/Talens Sketchbooks, have a super smooth paper? I've seen on some videos it has a fine tooth, but the 2 I ordered, have the smoothest paper I've ever seen. It might work ok with markers, but sucks with Pencils. Please, are these come in 2 different paper? Maybe they changed it lately?
I wish the youtube algorithm push my videos to some foreign countries. I really feel hopeless making doodle shorts with Filipino audience. This type of art is not that appreciated in my country.
3/5th through-the-vid comment: H O L Y. S H I T. This is @PeterDraws at peak personal&cultural relevance, as pertaining to myself! That's after I procrastinated watching your vids and doodling a wee bit.

I'm in the same boat. Art calms my brain and gives me a breather from all the bad spiraling thoughts.
It's coz when your drawing you are in the present moment. It's called meditation
John 3:16 we need Jesus Christ
I like when you ramble. I let my mind follow your drawings and your thoughts, it's very soothing and I'm grateful that I found your channel.

Never feel bad for "rambling" , love your commentary's Peter. Very insightful.

HELLOOOOO, I love drawing with peter in the background. I've recently discovered what I now love to do. DRAW. just thanks peter. It's great.
Peter has been, and will be, such an inspiration for us.

This is the video I needed, man. Thank you for being you.
You are my therapy. No pressure.

This is exactly what I needed today. Was feeling very stuck and lost
I'm so happy i randomly ran into one of your videos, Peter. You're so much more than an artist. 😊

There are studies showing doodling helps with remembering too! There is definitely some weird connection between drawing and the powers of the mind

I think I may have visited that Tea Garden back in 2016. If it’s the same place, it was worth the time to stop and visit. Very tranquil and serene.
The book changed my Life I would recommend meditation and mindfulness to any one as it is really makes you a better person

Beautiful testament on the power of art 😊
I am obsessed with your channel and art style!!! Amazing work
Chagrin is Peter’s favourite word. I also adopted it.
It was an orange rolling around in the trunk.
Love all your rambles. ❤
i dig this doodle quite a lot
3:40 ❤ It’s all going to be ok

I can’t tell you how much your videos have helped me. I draw a lot now though not very well I suppose but it helps me to relax and think. Thank you.
Peter you have to read Hardcore Zen by Brad Warner if you are getting into Zen Buddhism he talks about Zen in a very relatable way you would love him
I'm just saying I'd be really thankful if you doodled away all the problems in my life .
When I'm caught up in useless thoughts I just use the mantra 'I am not the past, I am not the future' which I got from Sadhguru, if I remember correctly. Works pretty well.
I would very much like to see you try a Gpen ( often called a manga pen)
This is cool insight. I was wondering what pen you are using and what paper? I enjoy a good pen and paper combo. Thanks
You can't be in 2 places at once,, and that happens often, but maybe you can make a plan for an alternative rsvp that might even be more preferable to the original event.
100 years old!! Well, it could happen. I'm sure you'll be drawing then too, don't get too busy
What kind of pen is this?
Will you read another book to us while you're drawing again sometime?
Thoughts are unstoppable
You should do a review of yookers pens you might like them
thank you very much you inspire me you are a true great artist i love your art well done
Question Peter: is there a ball point pen that scratches? Scratch sounds? Love your channel.
Instant like
Peter do you have day job? Or is this TH-cam a fulltime ?

you remind me of the dad from Coraline
Those nails are looking good 😻

Hey, I’m here! - greetings from The Philippines.
It’s called ‘art therapy’ in therapy ☺️ it helps the brain work through the thought process without distractions.
