Dope interview!!! I'm a huge Skanless fan since middle school '91. I always wanted to know the story behind Tony A and admired the production on Hi C album.
Tony A is a dope ass scratcher. Loved how he would cut and blend those verses together. One of the biggest reasons why todays hip hop sucks, the absence of the DJ cuttin on the track.
teddy styles...rap its not a race things...white peep as always been into it since breakdance and graff to djiing to rap...check everlast syndication video...beastie boys...3rd bass..kid rock...y.b.t.....peace homie....
I was speaking in terms of the hostility between Black and Mexican people in Los Angeles that seemed to start after the L.A. Riots!! I've been in Hip Hop since 1977 I don't need a history lesson about race in Hip Hop, I'm a day one in L.A. Hip Hop, and Hip Hop in general!
Thanks for the kind words, dre7sus. We're glad to have #SorenBaker on the team. The "Skanless" LP is so potent & Tony A helped the West Coast break through. It is great having him on the channel. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccess.
I was in LA the summer of 91. There two songs i remeber hearing everywhere. Tonite by dj quik and im not your puppet by tony a and hi c!!!! The skanless album really captured the vibe of what the LA area was like at that time.
Being a super HipHop head and Latino , I have to give props to Tony A. Your one of my “unsung “ hero’s in the game ! Hope to meet u one day to thank u for your contributions!
Louis263 -, we were glad that Tony A has come through to #UniqueAccess multiple times. We're glad you enjoyed our interview with him. Check out our other videos with him, too. Skanless, Bih Betta Have My Money, 2nd II None;s green album, and Quik Is The Name all classics. Although Hi-C and AMG dropped lackluster follows and 2nd II None waited 7 years to drop a follow up. Those debut albums are classics. I remember buying Skanless from the mall. That album had more cutting and scratching than 2nd II None's green album and Quik Is The Name, put together. I loved that ish. Then Swing'n came out in 1993. That ish was a piece of ish. Got It Like That was OK. But I could tell that Tony A really didnt have much to do with that album. Hi-C featuring Tony A went from some Gangstarr and CMW ish where Guru/Premo and Eiht/DJ Mike T were a rapper/dj duo team to just Hi-C. No featuring Tony A. That was the end of his career. I still got that weak album. It's in the garage in a storage container. That ish still looks new. Because i probably played the ish maybe 2 times. Cant believe Hi-C released that weak ish. Even his Hi-Life album was a piece of ish. That was worse than Swing'n. I know Steve Yano is gone. RIP. But Tony A should revamp Skanless Records. The only other artist that I remember that went through that label is Proper Dos.
Im get my numbers up in views n I want my #tonyadawizard interview I have so many things to say about all this Chicano rapp game n why its been stuck in the late 90z
The white guy just doesn’t look to interested at all..for a host he’s really looking at all the hand gestures and is it me or do his sideburns make him look like the one neighbor who may be skinning cats and secretly hanging up the missing cat posters...
"the white guy" - having no idea who Soren Baker is... lmfao. Some people are clueless. Soren is a legendary figure in this rap game. Come on now dude.
