That spot’s right up from Vivian Park and the highway tunnel, probably between the last house and the pullout next to the tunnel. There are actually stairs right at the mid-point (not kidding). That section is way crowded with rafters, tubers and kayakers from late spring to late September. Don’t even think about fishing it on weekends during that period. Rafters/tubers make no effort to steer clear of fishers. Best fishing during this time is night. Use a mouse pattern and fish the edges and you’ll land the monster Browns that hide out all day.

Great video. It's nice seeing the Provo River on youtube. I live 10 minutes away from this great blue ribbon fishery.

LOL! Your videos make me laugh. Welcome to my back yard fishery, it truly is an amazing river when you figure it out.

Most parts of the world are covered with water and there are many fish. The work of a fisherman is easy: choose the best parts.
Thanks for sharing this nice fishing..

I haven't fished this river in years. The fish are mediocre and like everyone says, waaaay too much pressure. Especially with tubers. I would definitely recommend the Weber river near Peterson, Utah. Significantly larger fish on average with less anglers. The provo is probably the most pressured moving water in the state. Hope you guys come back and the provo hasn't left a bad taste in your gills!

Thank you. We are hoping to fish the Weber some day. No bad taste. :)

Tate barn, and deer creek reservoir. That's my home, not the barn or the lake. Actually it's in Midway.

Yeah I only fish where tubers aren't or out of tuber season. I fish the Middle mostly. Same on the Weber. I would have recommended you fish the middle over the lower, cause it's not on the side of the highway - Same BIG fish. They call the Provo a Blue Ribbon River, but it seems like every river I've hit, it's full of trout. This year I'm set up to fish camp every weekend and blow this place (Utah) up. I think even the worst, nastiest, PCB ridden river we have is called the Jordan that runs from Utah lake to Salt Lake, and it still has trout. Good video.

Yeah, I don't fish the rivers with the tuber flotillas. Middle Provo and a dozen other local spots are the place to go. Glad you had fun. I lived here for 4 years, moved to OR for 10 years and I still called the Provo my home river. Moved back 3 years ago, and I haven't seen a river in Utah that wasn't a blue ribbon river. Well except for the Jordan PCB river.

This place is a weedy mess. With the floaters and the weeds, it isn’t for the faint of heart. Tried rainbow warrior, different tiny bead head midges and scud patterns in a hopper dropper setup on a early September afternoon with little success, but it is close to town and it is kind of a novelty so there is that.

Are there any other place in Provo to fish where the trout is not disturb?

Sorry, I am not familiar with the area well enough. Someone commented below and may know.

Tubers do not go lower than the Olmstead diversion Dam. However, there are still a lot of people that fish and hike between there and Utah Lake. Middle Provo has swarms of fishermen as well when there's decent weather. Upper Provo has some smaller rainbows and browns as well as brook trout, but the water is fast and fish can be harder to locate... Less people than the tailwater sections though!
