We all have lost a GREAT commentator in the Cycling World today no one can replace his witty commentary, I and the countless others will sadly miss your voice in the world of pro cycling won't be the same without you Paul R.I.P
Sherwen and Liggett are the standard to achieve for cycling commentary. I follow the TDF because my Dad followed the Tour and part of that reason is Liggett and Sherwen. I watch the TDF in part to honour my Dad's memory. Hugh Porter is also excellent but Paul will be missed.
Paul was such a great ambassador for the sport. And as much as I enjoy Phil and Bob commentating the Tour (and they really do a great job), Paul and Phil were just in a category all their own. I actually bought dvd's of old tour de france races, that I already watched live when they aired , just so I could listen to Paul and Phil commentating. I love cycling but Paul's history and the two of them telling stories as the miles roll by just makes it so much more engaging.
Paul was the soundtrack to so many great cycling moments. His work was unscripted, genuine, impartial and had a palpable love for the sport. Listening to Paul and Phil felt so natural that they seemed an integral part of professional cycling. A good man who gave back to the sport and those around him. Gone too soon and will be much missed. Ride on Paul, RIP
I’m watching this about three months after his passing. All I have to say is this Paul Sherwen was such great person. You can tell from just watching this video. I watched every stage of the past 12 Tour De Frances all of them with Phil, and Paul commentating. I’m not gonna lie watching this I got a little tearing eyed. I do think that the world is a darker place with him gone. Rest In Peace Paul Sherwen.
I just learned that Paul Sherwen passed away. Noooo, I love listening to him and his partner Phil Ligget. The tour de France is not going to be the same. I'm going to miss his great voice. Rest in peace Paul and thank you. You and Phil are simple the best commentators the sport of cycling has ever seen. :(
Don't fix what isn't broken, Imlach, Ligget and Sherwen are responsible for many people following tours and becoming fans. Big, BIG mistake losing them.
I agree with the previous comment. Phil Ligget and Paul Sherwen are peerless legends in cycling commentary, nothing comes remotely close to their quality and professionalism. I would like to know who the moron was who decided that there was anyone better than them for ITV4???? Because they should be sacked for that decision. I'm boycotting ITV4 coverage for Eurosport in protest, sadly I can't get NBC Sports coverage in U.K.! ps Ned Boulting is so annoying, he tries to over dramatise something that is dramatic anyway -a cheap substitute as a commentator. Feel sorry for Gary Imlach, he's a great anchorman!
Jejjer W it was a money thing - itv4 have bought the phil and Paul coverage from NBC for years and they decided by piloting Ned and David at the vuelta in 2015 to use them rather than buy into the NBC coverage
Terrible to lose the commentary of Ligget and Sherwen on the UK Tour de France coverage. Instead, we have Ned Boulting, who talks way too much .... and mostly just for the sake of it.
Give Ned some time. He will make it. I think he is far better than that buffoon on Eurosposrt who screams his rear end off. Carlton or whatever his name is. Stopped subbing to Eurosport back in the late 00's when he came on. The thing with Ned is that most of the time you will get some other pro's who do temp stints with him.
The current commentators are knowledgeable, but they lack that passion Phil and Paul possess. The latter always had interesting little titbits about the riders, the villages and towns, besides having knowledge as well. The current commentators put me to sleep. I actually find myself doing other things instead of watching at times. Yes, a bad decision. Let's hope this will be rectified next year.

RIP my old friend. For 2/3's of my life you and phil have been the voice of cycling. You will be sorely missed.
I am going to miss his voice. God Bless❤

Rest in peace. The greatest cycling commentary duo of all time.

Hard to not watch this and want to cry

Missing Paul this year! :-(
"he's in a spot of bother" - Will miss that phrase along with all of his commentary. Gone but not forgotten.
God bless Paul.
The tour will never be the same.... rip paul!
Thank you Paul for everything... RIP...†

Lost them in Australia too, not happy about this.
