I see the comparison, but I don’t think it’s the same leitmotif. Gaster’s theme is just a pair of arpeggiated chords, so in order to use it as a recognizable motif the reference needs to be pretty direct. It’s an interesting choice to reference ‘Freedom’ in this cover, but I think it’s more of a creative liberty than anything.
1:36 the bottom line chords of this part sound like the main theme of 28 days later which is kinda cool. Very good remix. Much more eerie than the rest, which is appreciated

Is it a coincidence that the first four notes of Gaster’s theme line can perfectly collate to the syllables of “Merry Christmas?” I think not-Gaster is Santa Claus, _100% confirmed!_ Seriously though, great arrangement. Good touch with the shadow Crystal holders’ “freedom motif” as well (really hope it does turn out to be a universal leitmotif like people are theorizing) ^_^

I love this so much! So spooky and unsettling. Not that I don't LOVE the more intense remixes of Gaster's theme out there, but it seems harder to find ones that keep that spooky vibe in a more subdued way.

@@GilTheDino But it likely wasn't the intention. It's implied that Gaster discovered Dark Worlds accidentally (using the First Human Soul, perhaps? Coincidentally the same color as the one in Deltarune? The very same one belonging to the demon Chara, I might add?), decided to run some experiments involving one/them, but then something horrible went wrong. With how grim and serious Gaster seems to be, it's unknown if he suffered a terrible fate or achieved something villainous. There's so much we don't know about him still, I really hope Deltarune finally delivers on his lore, because it runs deep. Even the freaking "company" that owns Undertale/Deltarune IRL is called "Royal Sciences LLC".
