Potato Skater Thanks and congratulations! These little milestones make skating more and more fun each time you achieve one. If I could just front side carve and tail stall I would be able to keep the fun going. I also have to keep practicing the rock to fakie. Its all great fun.
So true about perspective. A year ago I would have watched this and thought that looks huge. Now all I want to do is be there and shred with you. That park is amazing!
Garry C Yeah great bowl for sure. This was filmed last year. This year my progress has stalled from my MCL injury. My confidence is shaken. I have dropped in to a 6' bowl since but it was a little sketchy. Im avoiding drop ins until next season. I have been practicing front side carves in the mean time...I want to be able to keep my momentum going.
Thanks brother. Wow, never been to the Yukon...cool you have a Canadian connection with your wife. The Yukon sounds cold...lol, I can barely stand the winters down here in Toronto and I was born here.
That pool is simply amazing! And you rip! Way to go! Looks easy, after your bigger drops. Those carves are great, keep on pumping more speed, and you can already cruise it forever! 🏆 On the video cover I was wondering if it could be you. Hehe, in fact it could! You're in pretty good shape. Can you tell us something about the launch out? When I'm rocking at 70• half pipe, it feels so scary to change body orientation or to think of launch. Slippery bugger that board. If you'd practice that fakie direction, you could pump much does from one fakie shot every now and then.
Tommi Korhonen Thanks. The launch out is easy. You just step off the board near the top and walk up like its a step. I can actually launch right out and stay on the board but you need speed for this and cant do it everywhere. That was my nephew in the thumbnail(clickbait...lol). But I had lost 55lbs by the time this video was filmed. Totally motivated by skating.
That is a well laid out skate park! I found a bowl near me that looks almost the same as that one. I was too intimidated, after being off for winter, to try the drop in. That will be my goal for this year. You made it look easy keep on rolling dude. I gotta by pads what do you use?
Grandad got a Skateboard Yeah pads and helmet are the best. It definitely gives me the extra confidence I need. To be honest I forget the brand I'm wearing...I think its Triple 8. This year after 4 months off for winter I felt a little intimidated too but I went back to that blue bowl that I slammed on and had no problems dropping in again. However I was at an indoor park and was distracted on a simple small drop in and did the splits at the bottom tearing my knee MCL so looks like Im out again for at least a month or more. I was actually surprised and mad that I did that much damage on a routine drop in. The knee pads did nothing to save my knee ligament from a side force on it. Funny just after I upload this video with my nephew saying I injure myself too much and should quit...lol.
Grandad got a Skateboard I will be wearing a knee brace/knee pad used for motocross, snowboarding etc when I come back. I found these and the seem to have good reviews. Not too expensive either. Its a combination knee brace and knee pad and the price isnt too bad. fortnine.ca/en/evs-rs9-knee-brace It just surprised me at how easy it is to tear the MCL ligament.
I noticed you started about a year ago right? I was wondering if you kept skating between your videos at 4 months ago to 11 months ago. Sounds like some injuries my have taken you out.. Sorry for the question, I've enjoyed watching your videos.
Prodigal Sun I started skating April 2016 for the first time in my life, and skated the whole season. That first year I had a weird muscle or ligament tear in the back of my knee. That hounded me for most of the season until close to the end of the year. I also had those hard slams that bruised the bone below my kneecap. Then, this year in April I blew out my MCL ligament in my right knee...so no skating for 4 months this year until recently. Its been a rough road...literally...lmao.
Prodigal Sun That first year was a huge learning curve as I never skated as a kid or teen. I fell down a lot especially learning to drop in. By the end of the first season I got really good with the drop ins and barely fell anymore at all and never on a drop in until this spring on a small wooden slippery half pipe. So now I'm back to dropping in on a 5' foot quarter and I will be back to the 6' by fall. My confidence is returning but my MCL is still sore so its not totally healed after 4 months(scar tissue?). So I'm trying to take it a little easy(yeah right..lol) and concentrate on front side carving and pumping better so I can keep my momentum in a bowl. The upload dates of my videos may not reflect the exact day or month when it was taken..no time to edit and upload. I still have a bunch of videos that I'd like to upload but overall I havent made much progress skating since my last vid. At this point I'm just thankful to be on a board again...lol.
That bowl looks so fun!!!
C.J. Robison Your right its a great little bowl. I wish I could really carve it up and do some coping tricks. Hopefully with time.

Good job at riding that bowl! 😀 I did my first drop in 2 days ago
