Middle Age Skateboarding - I'm Back After An 8 Year Break!

      Thanks for the tips brother I appreciate it and commenting here. Every little bit helps. I am however 53 years old, overweight and with bad knees.😂 AND I literally just started inline blading, so I have the deck stacked against my favor. That being said I think I can still get some lower grinds in, ride transition and have fun, but I need to be careful. I just started front side grinds on a PVC rail and that was going well. Then I raised it up and that went well on grass. I tried taking it to a 13" rail at the skatepark and I was able to jump and stall on it but I tried to do a front side grind and smacked my shin really hard with no shin guards. I kinda f'kd my knee up and had to take a break for 3 weeks, and now its winter. 😭😭 But when I get back to it in spring I'm going to spend more time on my PVC rail and low ledges before I get back to the higher rail. Being old sucks. 😆😆

    Just one advice my man, when you jump off try to do it with both feet cuz you can slip off very easily if you leave one foot still sliding specially when you go faster Grove tricks are always faster than soul tricks. But if you’re on top of the rail it’ll feel easier I can’t wait to skate again 😩

    • @AWS-Blading
      @AWS-Blading หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok I will try and do that, I didn't notice I was doing that. But if you look at my recent short vid on my channel I am grinding in my garage and I think I'm jumping off with both skates. And ya I hope you can skate soon too brother. I wish I can skate everyday but my recover time is at least a day or two after a simple 2-3 hour session. Geeze even if I don't skate for a week I still feel arthritis but it becomes less.

      Thanks brother! 🙏🍺🍺 It's definitely not easy at this age to learn but like anything you get better with practice. And having your kid with you also helps. Showing up at the skatepark with no kid and being a beginner at this age is tough. I know nobody really cares these days as opposed to when I was young but still you feel a little self conscious. Especially when EVERYBODY is skateboarding and you are the only inline skater. 😂 The whole thing is a mental game, from getting motivated to go skate, to taking the risk with some tricks. But if I can do it so can you. I'm looking forward to next summer already when my kid is back out of school so I can get some cover from him and I don't look so goofy. 🤣🤣

    Yooo that’s goood. What I did to get comfortable with grinds on copings (I’m not the best at it tho) is approaching the coping almost as you usually do it but then as soon as you touch the coping push yourself a little bit to get that mini slide and then roll back fakie. Then faster and “longer” you’ll start to feel it better my man, next thing to do is soul stall

    • @AWS-Blading
      @AWS-Blading หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great tip! I tried to come at a slight angle but I started to slip out of balance and aborted. I also have my feet too close together so I was thinking to spread them more when I got on the coping. I have a PVC rail I made and front side grinds are too slippery and I fell a bunch of times. 👍

    Just picked these Aggressive Inline Skates up! No I haven't quit skateboarding again! 😂 I just wanted to see if I can't get some low grinds in with these. Also I want to give my stretched calf a rest from pushing. It's an overuse injury. So like and Subscribe guys and I will see you in the next boarding or blading vid. 💪💪🍺🍺😃😃

      Hahaha! My first comment after 8 years is from my other brother Darryl! (old person saying from the 80's 😂) You are the guy who inspired me to get the higher drop ins back in 2016! I mentioned you in my video's back then. Thanks for commenting brother. 🙏🍺🍺😃

    Clickbait.. This is not "Dogtown and Z-Boys" That is a good movie made by stacy peralta. This is a cheap documentary made by Stanley Swackhammer. called "Skateboard Kings" . Total clickbait in the title.

    Its like it was made for business men to see how they too can make money off skateboarders.. This video reeks of sellouts.

      Called in-line skates. Rollerblades were invented in 1980. I personally don’t see the difference?

    Geez, when blond people lived in Southern California. Orange county---Tustin--1972---was absolute paradise for a 12 year old growing up. Left that year never been back. Maybe one day the hands of time will go back.
