Mostly the same with Braveheart which is one of those films a lot of people in Scotland saw 23 years ago when it came out but few since. But elsewhere I think they must show it regularly, I wouldn't mind if it was at least vaguely historically accurate.

I wish we had more shows like this in theUS
this is one of the moments i just randomly remember. and its just great.
That Julie Andrews impression was so unique but effective. 😂
Oh man, Alan is such an underrated comic, I actually passed out from laughing at this when it aired. I laughed so hard I didn't breathe.
He's so funny "I bet you do girl, I bet you do" hahahahaha
In Spanish the title was translated as "Smiles and tears" (Sonrisas y lágrimas)
In French the title was translated to "The Melody of Happiness" (La Mélodie du Bonheur).
These are beautiful.
That's interesting, they're all so different, except "The Melody of Happiness" is very similar to the original title. Somehow "The Sound of Music" also became All Together Passionately, Smiles and Tears, and The Bastards Got Away.
In Portuguese it was translated as "Música no Coração" meaning Music at Heart roughly
Daniel Hackett - Superb sir! My neighbours must be wondering why I'm screaming with laughter at 12.20am , with no-one else in the flat.
Seeing Sandi in tears is one of the funniest things I've seen and when Alan goes that's it for QI.
Alan you god damn hero.
“Sometimes I look at you and wonder how your thoughts happen, where these things grow...” -Stephen
I can't figure out what's funnier: Alan's schtick or Sandi losing her mind:)
Alan Davies, comedy genius.
In Turkey it's called "Neseli günler", which Google translates to "Nuclear Days"
Like the Vapors album? Did they dub "Turning Japanese" over one of the songs?
Now according to Google translate "Happy days"
Alan Green So what do they call ‘Happy Days’ in Turkey?
It's called "a noviça rebelde" in portuguese, which means "the rebel novice"
+kisbie "These are a few of my favorite Fonz"?
Sandi in QI and Graham Norton are the funniest quick witted hosts EVER.
In portuguese The Sound of Music is something in the lines of "The Rebellious Novice"
I just love Sandi.
Side note, my grandmother had a “sound of music” music book that was titled “all together now”
Everybody in the world loves that movie - practically NOBODY in Austria has ever seen it. 🙂
I saw it on a flight from Tokyo to Singapore, at the age of 43...
I love the part of the film when Maria confides to the Reverend Mother about seeing the Captain again “...she couldn’t face it...” and the Reverend Mother replied “Maria, what is it you c*nt face?”
Best. Line. EVAR.
Hey! Rich Hall! I'm pleasantly surprised to see he's still around.
Well, in Latam Spanish The Sound of Music is The Rebellious Nun...
I just love Alan Davies!
Austrian speaking. Near to none Austrians actually know this film or the musical, and yet it still is the first thing English speaking people ask you about when mentioning your home country. It's actually really funny to have someone foreign teach you something seemingly useless about your own country while getting all excited or offended (much like Sandi at 1:47 ).
Mostly the same with Braveheart which is one of those films a lot of people in Scotland saw 23 years ago when it came out but few since. But elsewhere I think they must show it regularly, I wouldn't mind if it was at least vaguely historically accurate.
Edelweiss?
Depends on your age.
I love this show.
I love Josh Widdicombe, but he reminds me so much of Zippy in this.
You can see the moment Alan's brain goes "click - comedy goldmine! Sandi will love this!!!" 😂
2:16
I spent a christmas in Tonga. They showed Sound of music, but it was censored. In the end when they kiss it was cut out because they were not married. This was 2002.
After this movie they showedTerminator 3 without cuts...
"The hills are alive, and they want to eat you..." -- My alternative version of its iconic hit, that I'll likely never realize.
The fact he makes Julie Andrews out to be an aggressive person is fantastic
i just love rich hall so much
So many people rushing to tell the world they haven't seen The Sound of Music. You should create an award for yourselves, something to stand on your trophy shelf next to the framed certificate for Not Owning A Television.
Oh, I am getting a certificate for that, eh, after all these TV-less years...
Has QI for TH-cam done an Alan or others riffing compilation? For me these are it’s best moments
I agree with Josh, i understood none of that ^^'
It helps to be British
yeah cause we all understand cockney, didn't think it was that funny either tbh.
+Mark Roberts Not a lot, admittedly, but then it's not like we're that consistent with our accents anyway.
Oh, what would we do without this programme🤔? ...... nope, nothing compares with it.... we just need The Team to live forever 🤗
Alan's looking more like Bob Geldof these days
I'm very much outta the loop and behind the times here but I'm thrilled to see Rich back on the show
