Finally convinced a buddy to embrace the principles of the playa yesterday and he broke 100 for the first time ever. Shot an ugly but efficient 98 and saved himself a handful of lost vice pros. He loved the idea of aggressively attacking a conservative target. I think we have ourselves a new convert. But Matty, after that firmly caressed 4 iron approach on 5 I could see you shaving that handicap down to a practically see through 0.8 once you settle into the style of play. Let 'em know who's the baus. And congrats on a bucket list trip.
A true playa gets satisfaction not from his score, but his ability to play the shots he wants. Attacking conservative targets and actually hitting them gains you the satisfaction of discipline. Knowing that you had a plan and that you stuck to it. When you throw your plan in the water, in goes your discipline with it and the satisfaction you gain from it. You become a junkie, chasing a hit from a dragon who usually puffs for true playas only.
Matty Boom Boom Whaddaplayazinksi we’re all cheering for you. If you find a temporary CameraThem that Teeski approves, you’ll end up with a 3.3. Whaddalife
Man that’s really tough. I’m feeling 3.6 I think you will have shot a couple low rounds that will force it low. Probably half a dozen good rounds roughly around your par or just over. The rest will be discounted anyway 🤔. Looking forward to watching the rounds. Best golf channel on TH-cam!
Matt thanks for the golf zen! Although circumstances dictate that I am unable to play I find the advice will be helpful in the future. I think you will acclimate to the Scottish weather and bring home a 4.3 handicap. Best of Luck!
I really enjoy the on course commentary videos. I need to make a better effort not letting my bad shots turn me into a bad playing partner, thanks for the reminder. I'm thinking you will finish with a 5.2 hcp.
Thanks for this video ! I’ve been following you for years and, in a way, it’s good to see you playing 5 times your handicap sometime ! 😅 It’s maybe not sexy every day but that’s part of the game we chose to play. Looking forward to see you golfing in France one day ! Keep your good golfing happy vibes, whatever the scorecard !
Dude, your vids have helped me so much! Not starting golf till my adult years I was never introduced to course management. Learning to hit my most confidential (😂) shots has helped me a ton! Stoked for this season! Love that you’re not teaching us stupid ways to fix our swing but to use our games to the best of our ability, simple concept but you present it brilliantly! Oh and Bob Rotella’s books are incredible, thanks!
Masta Matta, You put it on the line like a BAUSS, all the time. I am using your approach to lower my score and it is working. I am SO IMPRESSED with what you have developed, how you are single-handedly changing the game, and where you are headed - my Man. The Man. HANDICAP on the OLD Sod = 1.414 The new style of my golf, - not losing or looking for golf balls, my boring play is unnerving my partners. They do know WHAT I am doing, but they are getting madder and madder when they play. When I break 90 (soon) , or when they ask, I will tell them about you, Right now, I find everything you do fascinating Sir. Thanks for EVERYthing ... This series in Scotland is Excellent. Know matter what - Enjoy and savor the experience. You taught me too. This is the best fun I have had since covid.
Hi Matt! Unfortunately rough and bunkers, especially in Scotland, are a different thing as in Asia. Never mind the influence of wind and weather. So these factors will cost you some strokes every round. Love your videos and tips. You will manage to keep your HC at 6.5. Enjoy the trip!
I often have your videos playing in the background. No matter what I'm busy doing, when I hear the tuba I have to look up. The trombone was a new surprise.
Whaddaplaya living Whaddalife in the home of golf. Beautiful courses. Gotta love it. Scotland certainly presents some difficult challenges which will test our Playa-n-chief. I foresee a HCP of 6.1 after the 20 rounds.
No decimal points. Absolute faith our playa and chief comes out with a 5 hcp at the worst. I know it should be closer to two ... But ... It's schotland. Much love and respect boy friend ✌
These are going to be some brutal 20 rounds man. I really think you can get down to 4.6. Good luck and I can’t wait to see you pull off some great shots out there.
4.2. Those courses play really hard. The “rough” makes it hard to even punch out. Not sure how wide the fairways are, but they looked really narrow on this course. I hope you kill it out there, Matt! 💪🏼
Here's my advice as a Scot, only hit driver when it's necessary on a links course. On short par 4s double iron is your friend, similar logic for most par 5s. Ego scores 120 on courses like this. Index Guess: 2.1
Nice...that's on my bucket list to play in the old country (Ireland/Scotland). Looks like a whole different type of play and using long irons is more strategic.
I'll go with 1.3. I played 8 straight rounds in Scotland in June and my handi went from 14 to 10. And I struggled pretty good in the beginning. You'll figure it out and have some great rounds towards the end. The old course was epic but lots of blind shots. We did standby and got in line at 9PM. Pretty much drank beer all night but got a spot at 7:30 the next day. Shot a 91 but was pretty tired and my feet were killin' me. Of the 8 we played, Carnoustie was the most pure. Fairways are like carpet. Quivira in Cabo was pretty epic too.
Great to see you taking on the challenge Matt. I think your scores will go lower from here, not sure I've seen you have such a tough time off the tee box and yet you still scratched out a decent score. Some of the courses should have less severe rough and playing without the caddies will be better for your game. I'm going with a 2.8 handicap. Look forward to watching the golf and seeing you think your way around the courses. Good luck playa!
Love the channel, love the WaddaPlaya ethos and mindset. I'm going for an optimistic 0.8 by the time 20 rounds are done. P.S. great to see you in the UK; hopefully more trips to come in the future.
Hmmm, Scotland….wind, rain, travel, whiskey, and a few road-sodas (hop based drinks for all yuns over the pond) will get you a 7.5 for the trip. To save you the hassle of picking a winner, just send the gifts this way now and you will play stress free-er for the trip.
Playa,I effin loved that,so great to see you play on a course that I’ve played myself😍😍 Turnberry is a beast and the best course I’ve played I love it,it’s got a magic about it… I reckon you’ll be doing well to play to 5.7..if it’s blowing then stick another 3 on that. Love this shizz my son!❤
I am going with 2.8 on the overall 20 round handicap. I think that once you find your groove and stay out of the poo poo more those rounds will drop down straight away. Looking forward to the series, Matt!
4:13 in and i`m reminded of when i first started watching your teachings. Scottish courses and weather are different animals to sunny serene Thailand. Bogey golf Playa 😜
Playa! Only discovered your page a week ago and have consumed so much. I’m faaaarkin average but at my local 9 hole course in Queensland I hover between 60 and 50 with 50 being my best. Today was the first time playing after watching your content and I shot 45 and didn’t lose a single ball for the first time ever. Can’t wait to improve on it. You’re a fuckin weapon mate. Thanks so much 🍾
Seems like this will be a great series. That lighthouse halfway house is amazing. I've seem a video of the hotel room inside as well. Hope to see the strategy work. My guess 0.9
I'm guessing you might end up at 4.9 by the end. Thats brutal! Love your channel, Matty, I have learned heaps over the last 6 months or more. Cheers from Australia.
I went to Scotland for 9 day in august, play turnberry 3 times, archerfield, Blairgowrie and trump Aberdeen 3 times. My handicap went up from 3.5 to 5. Those courses are hard and it’s windy. I think you’ll be off 6 at the end of the trip
I am going a 6.7, just with the wind and cold hampering Matt. Doonbeg is the same, they keep the rough tough. The greenkeepers giving the American tourists what they want.
Love your videos Matty, great to see the playa in chief on our shores. Unbelievably beautiful golf course, superb blog as always. My guess would be 3.2 handicap. Play well 🏌️♂️
I think you will have a 3.2 h/cap due to the. different course conditions and weather. Playing golf is Scotland can be a challenge especially on the coast.
Hey Matty! I'm thinking it's going to take some time to round it out. I think you're going to have some really strong rounds but find yourself in a similar position a couple more times. I think it will be closer to a 6.3
Links takes some getting use to. Either Two things will happen: 1)You’ll ignore ‘this doesn’t need driver’ from some people and use the driver or perhaps an easy low wood (maybe go to an easier driver set up just to keep in play). 2) You’ll get comfy with the long irons (maybe a utility goes in the bag instead of the Daly 1 iron) I’m guessing you’ll get a mixture of courses on the ‘tour’ with some very enjoyable old old courses. Handicap (this wasn’t a bad start but I’m guessing this score will be eliminated). End of the trip 1.8 (If a little Costa pre game and tea and scone mid round 0.1 😂)
One of the tougher links there Matt , links golf takes a bit of getting used too, you're a quick learner and have a solid game so I'll guess 0.7 handicap
Finally convinced a buddy to embrace the principles of the playa yesterday and he broke 100 for the first time ever. Shot an ugly but efficient 98 and saved himself a handful of lost vice pros. This is golden advice @@vanbalzup6481
4:20 Matty is so chill and benign in his delivery I forget he says out of pocket shit like "a real slut shaming 4 iron"
The based chad seeps through 😂
Matty Boom Boom Whaddaplayazinksi we’re all cheering for you. If you find a temporary CameraThem that Teeski approves, you’ll end up with a 3.3. Whaddalife
I think it’s Waddaplayasauskas, in Lithuanian.
The iphone alarm at 5:56 tripped the hell outta me 😂
Man that’s really tough. I’m feeling 3.6 I think you will have shot a couple low rounds that will force it low. Probably half a dozen good rounds roughly around your par or just over. The rest will be discounted anyway 🤔. Looking forward to watching the rounds. Best golf channel on TH-cam!
Brand new golfer here and learning a lot from your channel. Have fun.
Guessing 3.4 index.
So nice to have you back here, Matt! I believe you will land on 5,3 hcp realistically😊
Matt thanks for the golf zen! Although circumstances dictate that I am unable to play I find the advice will be helpful in the future. I think you will acclimate to the Scottish weather and bring home a 4.3 handicap. Best of Luck!

6.5 Good luck and have fun.

Damn scotland looks tough! Still getting pretty good yardage in those cold temps
I often have your videos playing in the background. No matter what I'm busy doing, when I hear the tuba I have to look up. The trombone was a new surprise.
There’s no escape.
Whaddaplaya living Whaddalife in the home of golf. Beautiful courses. Gotta love it.

I foresee a HCP of 6.1 after the 20 rounds.
4.4 thanks for all you do I’m loving the content and having a blast trying to improve my scores
H.I. 4.9 - Thanks for the discount on the L1 Voice Caddie, can't even believe I played without one for so long.
My guess is 3.8. Thanks for sharing I love your confidencality, with the flat stick. Love your witty banter I'm shamelessly stealing your 1 liners!
1:24 "I must confess,...it's killing me"
No decimal points.
2.2 like a Baus! Love the birdie music. I hope you hear it on repeat throughout your trip!
I love your videos and the way you simplify golf. I think your handicap will be 1.6 over the course of this trip
1.8 mate, good luck!
4.2. Those courses play really hard. The “rough” makes it hard to even punch out. Not sure how wide the fairways are, but they looked really narrow on this course. I hope you kill it out there, Matt! 💪🏼
I am a simple playa, I see a Golf Sidekick video and I click like. Waddalife!
*waddalike
4.3. The conditions look tough! Great series! Can't wait to watch each video!
Confident you'll make it to 3.14 Matt! Let's go. Love the material ❤

4.1 ...and good luck. Why watching you is hypnotic I don't know but is and thanks mate

3.4 Yuddaman Matt!
My favorite golf channel!

3.4 hcp with this strat, Matt. Enjoying the videos!
3.5 and thank you for giving us great insights and experiences!
I am going with 2.8 on the overall 20 round handicap. I think that once you find your groove and stay out of the poo poo more those rounds will drop down straight away. Looking forward to the series, Matt!
Wonderful course, and great to hear how you think through your round. I'll guess your index will be 7.9 by the end of the trip.
4:13 in and i`m reminded of when i first started watching your teachings. Scottish courses and weather are different animals to sunny serene Thailand. Bogey golf Playa 😜
....... 4:35 .......... I`ll just shut my big Scottish mouth 🤐
@13:42 Had me dying 😂 I relate far too well to that😅 I say you end the trip at 3.2 overall
Know I am going to love this upcoming series! I’m banking on a 3.7, good luck brother!
'Like tiger when driving a car' at 11.46 haha
Matty im going with 3.2 accounting for fatigue from travel and lack of cold weather conditioning. Good luck out there and have fun🎉🎉
Really excited about this series! Nice work sticking out this tough round. I'm guessing you end up with a 4.5. Go get em, playa!
Keen for the content I'm hoping you get yourself down to the 2.8 range. Good luck!
I think a 4.2 hdcp. Looking forward to watching!
Great seeing you in the UK playa. Nice to translate your game to something I'm much more familiar with. I reckon you'll land on a 3.8. Good luck!
4.5 HC Good luck!

Matty lad! 3.7 great to see the videos coming out! The best is yet to come 😉 waddaman!!
4.8. Love the content!! I planted a feather today
5.8 Now I want to play Turnberry! It looks amazing!
I have the same 1iron, use it for punch outs or safe down the middle shots. I'm guessing you are an 8 hcp by the end.
Have always had huge faith in you & your game! Im going to guess over all a 2.2
I went to Scotland for 9 day in august, play turnberry 3 times, archerfield, Blairgowrie and trump Aberdeen 3 times. My handicap went up from 3.5 to 5. Those courses are hard and it’s windy. I think you’ll be off 6 at the end of the trip
WaddaTrip and waddaplaya. Love your mindset.
Handicap guess: 3.8
Bossing it Matt, you're really getting the hang of links golf.
I am going a 6.7, just with the wind and cold hampering Matt. Doonbeg is the same, they keep the rough tough. The greenkeepers giving the American tourists what they want.
Autumn in Scotland can be rough with wind and rain, 4.4 is my guess.
Matty! You’ll be playing at a 1 HC at the end of the trip! Much love from AZ
Awesome video!
I think this will be one of your scratch 12 though. My guess is a 5.4 Hcp
Love watching when you put the strategies you explain in other videos into practice. My guess is you will be at 3.8. Good luck!
I have no idea how to estimate a handicap index but I will go with 5.9. Thanks for the vid Matt!
4.6 mat, love the vids mate ,thanks 👍
6.2- cheers from Canada
You're in Scotland! Would love to see you play my home course Seafield (Belisle), also in Ayrshire. Garuanteed you go round that under par!
9.9 Matt. Conditions in October particularly on the links courses are brutal. You're gonna hit plenty wind and rain.
I am going with 3.7. Great videos
Love your videos Matty, great to see the playa in chief on our shores.
Unbelievably beautiful golf course, superb blog as always. My guess would be 3.2 handicap.
Play well 🏌️♂️
It’s just a really hard course to play - and I agree with your assessment entirely - but just so effing beautiful!
Looking forward to some more Scotland golf! I think you'll end up at 4,1.
2.6 but hoping for lower. Always a fun watch either way.
Great video bud always love to see you play.
I’m guessing 4.2 whaddalife
I think you will have a 3.2 h/cap due to the. different course conditions and weather. Playing golf is Scotland can be a challenge especially on the coast.
4.2 is my guess for handicap. Love the channel… what a player
11:48 "like Tiger when driving a car" lmaooooo
Hey Matty! I'm thinking it's going to take some time to round it out. I think you're going to have some really strong rounds but find yourself in a similar position a couple more times. I think it will be closer to a 6.3
6.3 ! Cheers playa, all the best!
Looking forward to this series. 3.6 handicap
Can see this series getting down to a 6.0, gorgeous courses
Good luck over there, you might have to invest in a bunch of pocket hand warmers for the trip. I think your hcp for the trip will be around 4.9. Enjoy
Best of luck! Im going with a 3.2 index after 20 rounds.
3.3 That lighthouse halfway house is bomba! Looking forward to the seeing the rest of your trip boyfriend!
Links takes some getting use to.
Either Two things will happen: 1)You’ll ignore ‘this doesn’t need driver’ from some people and use the driver or perhaps an easy low wood (maybe go to an easier driver set up just to keep in play).
2) You’ll get comfy with the long irons (maybe a utility goes in the bag instead of the Daly 1 iron)
I’m guessing you’ll get a mixture of courses on the ‘tour’ with some very enjoyable old old courses.
Handicap (this wasn’t a bad start but I’m guessing this score will be eliminated). End of the trip 1.8 (If a little Costa pre game and tea and scone mid round 0.1 😂)
14.2 HCP. Love the strategy
One of the tougher links there Matt , links golf takes a bit of getting used too, you're a quick learner and have a solid game so I'll guess 0.7 handicap
I'm gonna say 3.5 index over 20 rounds. Because that's the miracle of videotaped golf. Great video as always man
Great to watch! 4.1 hcp
Well that’s a very relatable start. Good luck and have fun on your trip. I guess 2.3!
2.3 hcp index. love the whaddaplaya shirts
1.8 hcp - the 4-iron on 5 got me feeling confidential of Matty boy getting close
