The best way to get oxidation out of the gel coat is to sand with 1200 grit trizact then a good compound. I had the same exact boat and I did that and it brought the gel coat to life
I just did my 1996 Nitro 2000DC. Same color. Same oxidation. I did 2000 grit wet scan first, then went up to 3000 and 4000 grit (used one or the other, not both, they're just what I had.) Look for orange peel in the gelcoat. If you see it, you're not done sanding. After that I used Maguire compounds and polish in the tan bottles. Honestly, the finish looks brand new! Also, take off the vents, cleats and any other obstructions before you sand and polish. Makes the job easier and better end result. (Forgot to mention, I used round wet sanding pads from Harbor Frieght. Much better than sanding by hand.

Thats how i did my nephews boat, amazing what wet sanding will do, great feeling aint it.
