Although this video is one of the older ones, I've pretty much re-watched this one and a few of the other good ones a couple times. As simplistic yet informative as well as entertaining as they are, somehow Eric seems to find even the most simple of ways to add his unique touch of humor here and there throughout his videos. I'm sure that other viewers would agree with me that we all have our own brand of "Evil Laughs" of satisfaction when it comes to projects that fulfill that inner childhood wonder and amazement when it comes to tools and projects such as this and others. Even though this tool isn't an actual "Flamethrower", and for those who don't know of, or have seen an antique brush/weed burner like this before. I'm quite sure that if you're a fan of this channel and find tools like this, and other antiques from the past fascinating. We all share a similar imaginative interest, and would probably figure out a way to make a tool like this one work, or as for Eric's case malfunction as a "Flamethrower". Either way, this rescue along with the others from the past, and future projects was spot on and turned out great as usual. I'm just glad that his wife let him survive this one. I'm sure we all can relate in some way or another, married or not. This may have turned out differently, and may have possibly been the last time we seen or heard from Eric had he not been testing on the sidewalk, or had accidentally taken out a flowerbed or something. Thanks for letting me ramble on, and thanks for rescuing the tools and accessories that got us to where we are today.
Watched this when it was first released, and just rewatched it almost three years later. Definitely the funniest video HTR has made, I just love the bit where Mrs HTR discovers him testing the flame thrower...

Just like an old kerosene "Blow Torch." you've got to heat the metal basket first before pumping the fluid . It's supposed to blast blue and not spurt like a flaming water pistol. Great vids watched them all and Luv Em
What it needs to do is get so hot around the coils that the fuel 'boils" and comes out as a vapour. Great fun to use, better than a weed eater / strimmer anyday. The idea is to just beat the plant so that the Easter turns to steam and bursts the cells, not to burn it to a crisp.
Love your videos. Not only relaxing but highly entertaining and damn funny without saying anything. Keep up the great work. I admire everything you work on and am inspired myself. Thank you
Thanks a million for not using nerve damaging music as a background filler for your videos, btw, you are doing well and done a good job for all videos so far I watched.
Usually you wrap the tape in the direction of the threads so that when you screw the fitting onto the pipe, the tape doesn't try to unwrap itself. I don't see anything very wrong with doing it as shown in the video, it's just cleaner and more convenient to do it the other way.
I've also heard that wrapping it counter to the threading, so it tries to unwrap when you thread your fitting on, makes the teflon tape take up more space in the joint and actually seal better.
I work HVAC how I learned it, with taping threaded pipe you want to wrap it around the same direction that your going to tighten it. So Would be puting the tape on clockwise. Probably Not a big deal with a flame thrower, I mean how safe are you trying to be with one of those anyway.
Yes I was shown that too at a petrochemical company. Also do not tape the first two threads and we used 1 1/2 turns of tape but on older fittings might need more but to use the minimum needed .Never use too much as you can break the fitting.

NO TOUCHING he would say with a smile while I tried hitting things with a very small ball peen hammer. He never took the hammer back but would wait for me to find mischief with it. All the while he smiled and his seemingly forever dirty hands was always kind. A minister/handyman/carpenter..Just like Jesus.

So while this flamethrower might have been used by the military (perhaps by road crews) it wasn't ever used as a weapon of war.
Except it was, in WWII in Iwo Jima to drive Japanese out of their hidey holes.
the flame thrower used by the war department was a very different design this one was simply a regular old blowtorch that was supper sized for weed control
have a good day and a better tomorrow
drawvenmusket I used to own one... They are used to boil the weeds you don't actually have to burn them. They are also superb and dealing with ground based wasp nests... Aim it into the hole and it stops them coming out and incinerates them at the same time...
That was totally lead paint... off the charts in fact. Don't think you're reading those strips right.
If you're not eating it while you're a growing child, just relax. It won't make you sick.
I think that was a joke....
That was the joke 😒

Burn’em all! Ha ha ha rarghhh! Great video! Well done, you’re place on the board of the ‘Pyromaniac Society of the Western Hemisphere’ is assured, or insured! One or the other anyway! Good man!
This man’s humor was ahead of his time
Am I the only female who watches this type of video? I love watching work done, especially if it saves physical history and the maker is a hoot. The scent of grandpa's early panel truck with all his tools for handiwork was a fantastic place for me to be allowed to visit.
