I never heard of “seasonal decoration” until I started watching American/Canadian TH-cam videos. I live in Britain and the only “season” I decorate for is Xmas. I put up the tree and that’s it!
Lol same. This is quite amusing to me.
I live in a condo in Canada and don’t have room to store decorations (i.e. different pillows for the different seasons as well as other decor items) for all the seasons so I only decorate for Christmas as well. Most people I know only decorate for the Christmas season as well; although that being said, we will put out pumpkins on our front porch (and sometimes the little gourds in the kitchen) for the little trick or treaters and a lot of people will also decorate the outside of their homes for Halloween.
Sometimes I’ll just play your videos in the background to have that sunshine vibe you exude in my space. 💛

@@nancyknoll2963 I'm not sure! I know their stores are (or at least used to be) called Chapters in other provinces, like in BC, so maybe thats what they're called in the States as well? You could Google it to check, but I'm sure they'd ship to the US as well!
Indigo, Chapters and Coles stores in Canada are all the same company. We also have one indigo location in the states - in New Jersey! It opened two years ago now.

For anyone else with a diffuser and fur babies: please just make sure to research pet-safe essential oils. There are quite a few popular ones (like lavender) cats can't absorb properly and it could make them sick. Just sharing as a pet owner who is looking into buying a diffuser and didn't know how harmful they could be, if you're not careful. ❤

During this time of Covid-19 pandemic I have no job at the schools as a substitute teacher. The money I have will be going on paying bills. I wish this covid would end so I can go back to work. Alexandra, I've 🐝 watching your videos for a while. You should make a video compiling all the places where you can find deco by category, for example, pillows, fabric, furniture, lights, carpets, plants, furniture, wallpaper, paint, home decor, wall art (pics), printing services, etc. I know you did a similar video long ago, but there are so many places now you have presented in your videos, and if we don't take note, it is hard to remember where we saw it. Think about this, it is a win-win, you get a video with high visits, and we get a summary of the best places to purchase our deco! I hope this video doesn't get lost. Hugs💖

Spent matches can be put in a decorative little tin or metal dish after use and keep in the tray also for fire safety. Nice seeing you are using decorative trays to add a little more decorative utilitarian use to organize . Each time I see such good decorative suggestions that can really make a statement as well as for safety concerns. Love the cushions and they quality and add a nice touch seasonally.

Love all the styling, and was paying special attention since we are in the process of re-styling our living room right now. I was wondering, though--doesn't it take hours every week to do your dusting? Serious question, because it always has taken me forever, and while I love the layering effect, I hate having to clean it all!
I suppose it’s a personal decision. My mum, who hates dusting, only does it when company is coming over. I dust regularly on a schedule based on how often dust collects in a space and how likely I’m going to come in contact with the dust. I do it regularly so I never have to dust my entire home at one time. Doing it all the time makes it a habit and eventually your dusting skills improve. I currently dust twice a day --- which I know must seem excessive. But here’s the thing, I spend less than 15 minutes, and sometimes less than 10.
I have some objects that I interact with daily that I cannot stand being dusty or grimy. So after breakfast I wipe off things like the coffee maker and my toilet. Stuff like that accumulates dust, hair, water spots so fast that doing it daily is the only way to keep up. At the end of the day I clean my laptop’s keyboard, my phone, remotes, my nightstand, and coffee table. I also like to dust one shelf every day. I have lots of bookcases & shelving and I really don’t like big cleaning jobs. I break big jobs into smaller ones. I clean my fridge like that too; 1 shelf per week.
Other items I dust less frequently. I only tackle the top of the cabinets twice a year and the top of the fridge once a month. Same with the casings around doors and windows. Those I only do once a month too. Under my bed and closet shelves, I clean once a season. There probably are days I spend a little more than 15 minutes dusting but not much because I break it up.
I keep a binder that has all of my chores divided up by frequency and then subdivided by room. And I have calendars where all the chores are scheduled. I’m sure it must seem crazy.
I used to be pretty haphazard about cleaning. I cleaned some stuff routinely because I don’t like getting dust or schmutz on my hands but I would let books, magazines, and toys accumulate in piles that I avoided dealing with. Then I had a kid with an anxiety disorder. Orderly environments help keep her anxiety at bay so do routines. When you live with someone like that, the whole family has to contribute.
We have a nightly resetting. I call it “reset”, but it’s cleaning. It’s getting all the communal spaces ready for the next day. My kids know if they use communal space after I go to bed they have to leave the space ready for tomorrow. I did all this scheduling and planning and routine creation to help my daughter’s anxiety but it improved my whole family’s life.
I dust with a vacuum primarily. I used to have a central vacuum which is when I discovered the marvels of using a vacuum to dust. Now I just use a hand vac. But it has to be one with a tube or wand and a soft bristle attachment. I dust my shelves by zipping the vacuum over them. Most shelves take less than a minute which is why dusting every day takes so little time.
You have to figure out the method you like best, cloth, duster, or vacuum. Then you determine your tolerance for dust in a particular area. After that you just have a schedule that you adhere to as best you can. Consistency’s the most important part. So I suppose I do spend and hour or two ever week dusting/wiping things down but it doesn’t feel burdensome because it’s broken down into smaller amounts of time.
