Hi - It appears you are applying grease to the wheel studs, that's a no go and a major safety concern. The torque specifications are for dry threads only, and any lubricant will considerably reduce the fastening strength. I would strongly recommend cleaning these lugs and nuts before driving.
I understand the concern but the owners manual specifically states “lubricate wheel studs slightly with graphite grease to prevent wheel nuts being pressed light”. The same manual gives the 400Nm torque spec.
@@MogsAndDogs - Ok, graphite or copper grease is acceptable, sorry I couldn't discern from the footage.
@@OverlandVagabondWell, I didn't actually use graphite grease... Lucas Red and Tacky.
@@MogsAndDogs - In that case, I suggest you proceed as per above.
I am in Australia and got a Unimog specific jack from Europe for a reasonable price.
Your always thinking everything through. No doubt you consistently do your research.
Thanks!
Another nice job
Thanks again!
Impressive vehicle stands! 🇦🇺
They are nice but too big and heavy to take with me.
They look good.
Thanks!
Good job 💪 don't forget tighten the nuts after 50 km !
Good call!
Muy buen trabajo.
Muchas gracias!
A tip - a shovel works well as a leverage point for the wheel install
Great tip, thanks!
Great job guys, looking good.
I personally love doing these little jobs (relatively speaking).
I’ll be interested to see how many miles you get from the MPT 81’s.
I found them to wear pretty quickly, but I think that’s because we spent a lot of time on big mountain twisty roads.
🙏 P&I 😊🍷
It is really nice to complete the smaller projects, isn’t it? Feels like a win.
Whenever you change rims to need to make sure the lug nuts match the rim! (It can be real scary if the worst happens, don’t ask how I know)
The worst seems like it could be a nightmare
Any reason for the indicator instead of a torque stripe? Nice jack!
I have never heard of a torque stripe. I will look that up
@@MogsAndDogsvery common manufacturing technique
Great video I usually set the indicator points like this ->
For some reason this pattern spoke to me.
Haha "spoke" to me good one 😂😂😂
The reason why you go ->
Yeah we know but then the spoke's won't talk to you awesome joke 😂
@tinymog Thanks folks. I'll be here all week. Try the veal.
