We had bought an Atmos at a garage sale. The owner thought it was broken but had inherited it so knew nothing about it. We took it to a Swiss clockmaker and he showed us it has a lock to the pendulum. It was in great condition. We paid $25. Sold for $1400. So do your research.

When I saw the Coleman lantern, it reminded me of one my father had. I don't know that he ever used it. I just remember it was in the original box on a shelf in the garage with the inscription "Hold for Mr. Wright" and dated July 20th, 1969. The same date as the moon landing.

The sword needs some restoration. But the money is in the scabbard. Swords seperated from their scabbards more times than not. I bet you could get at least what you paid for it out of just the scabbard. Love that plane too.👍👍

when I ship glass or other fragile items, I have learned to surround at least the breakable part with corrugated cardboard THEN use bubble or foam or other shock absorbing material. Sometimes I double box as well. Little tip, WD 40 will remove tape or other glue residue. (Dawn dish soap will remove the WD)

Awesome on the Art Deco airplane for $100. Nice.. I think it was a good buy at $200 for the sword. I'm glad you are taking to the expert. Never know it could be more story to it and of course the value will go up.. I know someone always think they can sharping the blade. Which is not a good idea. The clock was neat.. I'd definitely get it restored if it the right money to add value and it helps with the box as well. This is awesome Pete. I can't wait to see what the expert says. Thanks for sharing. P.S. Yes, Honey indeed love that box! lol

  • @techelectricfuture3094
    @techelectricfuture3094 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You stole the Atmos clock! Lucky guy. That clock winds itself, as stated in other comments, from the changes in air pressure.
When they go bad it's usually that it overwound due to heat cycling (heat up cool down in short time). The symptom is that the clock runs fast no matter how you adjust the regulator.
It must be set level and then you gently nudge the pendulum to the side to initiate rotation.
Great clock, WOW. Jesus you have the box and papers too!

Judging from the prices on eBay, you got the clock really cheap, to say the least, if you paid only $80 for it.
Jaeger-Le Coultre Atmos Perpetual clocks goes for hundreds of dollars, typically around 800-900, some even around 1.000-1.200 USD.
There are listed original Atmos styrofoam boxes (to pack them in), empty, that alone cost around what you paid for the clock.
Of course, I don’t know how long the clocks and the boxes have been announced and if they will finally get the asking price.
At Jaeger-Le Coultre’s webpage, they have three models for sale (I assume they are new) for $6.950, $9.100 and $27.900. So either way, it is clearly not just any clock maker.
Too bad the woman didn’t realise what a gem she had.
Hopefully your clock guy can tell you more about it.
PS: Yes, the hour handle felt stuck - it is not meant to be pushed. The gear ratio is very different from the minute handle, which is typical for mechanical clocks/watches.

Recommend if you use ebay for price checking that you take at least four prices off of ebay. Divide it by two and you should have an idea, but it is still not to be used as a starting point, way too many people charge rediculous prices for their items, or even try to take the customer for a ride. Make sure you use numerous sites for your prices, including antique sites, or retail stores, not ebay. Good luck and God Bless.

"Minimum pricing" of an average condition U.S. Model 1840 Civil War sword WITH scabbard is $450-$500. That's to start. The range goes from there up into the $700-$800 selling price. Sad that this lady didn't seem to know anything about the sword or care that she was literally giving it away.

I shouldn’t have to answer this but most postal facilities prohibit the shipment of flammable or combustible liquids. It needs to be drained anyhow because of the lantern or whatever you’re trying to ship happens to get tipped on its side the liquid contacts could spill out and cause a hazard.

When it comes to lanterns, I sell quite a few and I take special care with the globe. That being said, All my returns are for the globe getting broke in shipping I can tell that some people will bid and win a lantern with the globe just to ask for a return because the globe was broke. Bottom line is they paid nothing just to get a intact globe to replace their broken one they had. No way to say it didn't happen in shipping so I get back my lantern with their broken globe. A scam for sure. Now i only sell lanterns with no glass. People can buy it in another auction if they want. Lessons learned.

That face cover is meant to be worn with a mask. The particles can and is still coming out on the left, right, and bottom of the the face cover. And why would you take off when you’re so close and talking to that lady? Putting her and whoever she comes in to contact with at risk?

Masks don't work either. Over 85 percent of the people who got it wore masks most of the time. The good thing is the death rate has plummeted and the survival rate is over 95 percent

What is a 'swaard.' is that any relation to a sword...or as we pronounce it correctly, 'Sord.' I'd love to hear this gentlemans edgeamacashun. Apparently it's a Calvary Swoord.' Hahahahahahahaa. It is not a sword, it is a sabre as used in the Boer War, and is a dress sword.....for parades...not for fighting....and as he says, looks like someone tried to sharpen it. That would be true.
