- The rare VW Auwaerter Carlux bus from 1961 has been resting for decades in a car graveyard in Kaufdort Switzerland.
In 2009 the remains of the T1 based Auwaerter bus has been sold in a public auction to a german car enthusiast.
After many years It has now been brought back to life by a professional classic volkswagen car restauration team in Germany and handed over to a new owner.
The perfection of the restauration is simply stunning…

@@jondrew55 from what i know that was a major issue, took them years to find how to do it. In the end an helicopter manufacturer did it, after years of relentless asking them 😂, they had to make a custom made steel frame to get the glass molded over.
Kein Auto, das heutzutage gebaut wird, erreicht diese Designerkunst und Schönheit. Man könnte meinen, dieser Wagen käme aus einem Science-Fiction-Roman, der in ferner Zukunft spielt. Vielen Dank für diese tolle Arbeit.

Zeihensfickschen wäre es, wenn der Bus mit Gummizug-Motor laufen würde und während der Fahrt von im Motorraum sitzenden sog. "Fachkräften" aufgezogen würde.
Ich wüsste noch einen ebenbürtigen: Den Rumpler-Tropfenwagen aus den 20ern 😉

Absolutes Kompliment! Unglaublich, dass es gelungen ist, dieses völlig zertrümmerte Kaufdorfer Wrack auferstehen zu lassen. Ich empfinde absolute Freude darüber, dass dieses einzigartige Auto aus Ruine wiedererstanden ist!
Vom Wrack aus Kaufdorf ist eigentlich nur ein teil der Dachstreben erhalten....der Rest ist ein relativ gutes US Bus Modell,welches für diese Rekonstruktion hergenommen wurde.....
leider finde ich das fahrzeug an sich spotthässlich und ein produkt der mangelzeit. aber zolle allerhöchsten respekt an den restaurator.

Bin auch Kind dieser Zeit, habe aber dieses traumhafte Modell noch nie gesehen. Gratulation zur Vollendung diese Projektes!
What a stunning resurrection! I have been dearly hoping that the bus was being restored and seeing this video has made my day! I'd love to see some of the welding and fabricating that must have gone into the rebuild.
Also, where do you find new glass for something like this?!

In Brazil, we call this model the "Corujinha" (Little Owl) Kombi because the front design resembles the bird's beak with the two headlights being the eyes. This was the most beautiful version of the van I've ever seen. Congratulations on the difficult artistic task of restoring this treasure.
These were never imported to Canada, unfortunately. I did not even know such a model existed. I’m envious
hope this year I will manage to come for a visit. I need to see this bus live. I am working on my VW T2 bus to make it ready to handle that long trip from Albania to Germany and back. I have been planning this from the day I saw this VW bus being restored!

Wunderschön, diese Restauration. Daß man die Scheiben noch bekommt, ist ja toll. Wieso haben wir dieses schöne Design der 50er und 60er Jahre so gänzlich verlassen?
Warum wohl, weil heute kaum noch jemand so extravagante Teile wie die Frontscheibe bezahlen will. Der Formembau dafür würde heute ca. 2,8 Mio. kosten und der Ersatzteilpreis wäre dementsprechend exorbitant hoch.
Unglaublich was da geleistet wurde,Hut ab!!!😊😊😊

Man muss goldene Hände und Werkzeuge ohne Ende besitzen (und viel Geld) um so eine Traumrestauration zu machen!

Ein einmaliges Fahrzeug ,der Aufwand hat sich gelohnt, was hatten wir früher für Designer und Ingenieure die auf dem Zeichenbrett die Entwürfe für die Modelle gestaltet haben.
Da war der Computer noch in weiter Ferne.
Die meiste Zeit bisher kam die Menschheit auch ohne Computer zurecht. Man siehts an so einem Bus.

Super tolles Fahrzeug! Allerdings ging mir die Restauration etwas zu schnell. Sehr sehr gerne hätte ich mehr Zwischenschritte gesehen. Da steckte sicher so viel Arbeit drin, die es lohnt, hier detailliert gezeigt zu werden.
Dieses Auto ist wunderschön geworden, doch diese sphärische Musik ist für mich noch viel schöner. Beides ganz toll gemacht.
Genau so einen Auwärter-Bus hat mein Vater besessen. Er wurde hauptsächlich für Vereinsfahrten für den TSZ Lindenberg e.V. genutzt. Soweit ich mich noch erinnern kann, wurde der Bus, bevor diesen mein Vater erstanden hat, von einem Isnyer Busunternehmen für Reisen eingesetzt. Wir fuhren mit dem Bus zu sehr vielen Musik- und Sportveranstaltungen. Schade, dass es den Bus nicht mehr gibt. Es ist ja auch schon ca. 60 Jahre her. Aber 1 Bild hab ich noch von dem VW.

👍👌👏 Oh WOW, einfach fantastisch! Eine großartige Leistung! Gratulation! 🎉 Die Restaurierung war, nicht nur ob der Panoramascheiben im Dach, sicher sehr kostspielig und offensichtlich sehr aufwändig. Ich hoffe, dass irgendwann originalgetreue Stoßstangen (mit den entsprechenden Zierleisten) und die gelbglasigen, rechteckigen Zusatz -Nebelscheinwerfer nachgerüstet werden können.

Tolle Arbeit. Es freut, dass mindestens manche der Automobilgeschichteschätze von Kaufdorf gerettet worden sind. Der damalige Bürgermeister von Kaufdorf hat dazu gebracht, dass viele der Automibilismusdenkmalle zerstört worden sind. Das sollte strafbar sein.
Der war ja auch schuld, das Messerli räumen musste.

The name of my country has nothing to do with the interesting and delicious bird ''turkey''......
.....but the name of the bird does have a connection with the name of my country, let me explain. :)
Name of my country has always been Türkiye, it's been known as such since around the 1200's.
The name it self has a suffix, '' -iye '', that is Turk-iye, where the -iye suffix means 'land of/belonging to',
just like the Latin suffix of '' -ia '', which exists in such country names like
Austr-ia, Austral-ia, Latv-ia, Roman-ia etc etc again meaning 'land of/belonging to'.
Many would remember the country Czechoslovak-ia which changed it's name to Czech Republic and a few years ago changed that to Czechia (that is Czech-ia).
The Latin suffix -ia probably originates from Turkish -iye as Turkish is much older, ancient Turkish been over ten thousand years old.
Spelled in different languages in different ways to phonetically resemble (to sound like) '' Türkiye ''
we got various spellings like;
Turquía (in Spanish),
Turchia (in Italian),
Turquie (in French)
Turkei (in Germn) and
Turkey (in English)
all trying to resemble the pronounciation of ''Turk-ia'' thus Turkiye.
Mind you this was way before the animal we currently know as 'turkey'' was found by the europeans when they explored the north americas. The bird was first sent to europe from north americas in the year 1519, so up until that point there was no bird named 'turkey'....
...they came across the bird and thought it was a specie of the fowl/chicken they had been buying from the country of Turkiye at the time, so they named the bird ''Turkey Fowl'' meaning ''Turkish Chicken''.....
....just like how a dog breed is known as German Shepherd (because it's from Germany), American Bulldog, British Terrier, Greek Harehound etc etc.
In time you don't get to call the Greek Harehound as simply as ''Greek''; or you don't call the British Terrier as ''British''; or the German Shepherd as ''German'', but in time the Turkish Fowl started to be called just ''Turkey'' and later ''turkey'', and has been going on for hundreds of years.
Now in modern times, this is causing confusion, especially when we have people across the world unable to point to their own country on the map, this ''confusion over the naming'' needed to be corrected.
So my country decided to rectify this confusion that has been going on for so long and corrected the name to Türkiye, which it always was. Basically we didn't change the name of our country, we changed the mistake made in the English language. : )
So, there's some tid bit information for you to have a great day, if you read upto this point you have a great night too, ohh just have a wonderfull life. : )

Hatte den Bulli damals in Kaufdorf gesehen, schön das er gerettet wurde, von daher war die Räumung doch Sinnvoll, ansonsten wäre ja alles verloren gewesen !

Die Verglasung wird wahrscheinlich das teuerste daran gewesen sein.

Disappointed to see the body go from rusty and crooked to perfect shell in primer.
I wanted to see all the metal work that had to be done in between.

Auwärter war schon eine umtriebige "Schmiede".
Aber wie konnten diese abenteuerlich geformten und teilweise getönten Fenster reproduziert werden? Das ist Kunst!
Wenn man weiß, ein T1 Samba kostet - was mag dieses Schmuckstück für ein unbezahlbaren Wert haben?
in meiner alten firma hatten wir einen T1 zum abfall auf die müllkippe zu fahren. irgendwann ist der karren nach dem entladen nicht mehr angesprungen. da haben wir ihn gleich dagelassen. so war das damals....fa bordt zuffenhausen 1970er jahre

Geiles Teil...im Vergleich zu heutigen Fahrzeugen ein wahres Kunstwerk. Heute haben Autos weder Aussehn noch Charakter getoppt von unnützer Elektronik . Einfach nur ein Haufen Blech.
Diese restauration ist VIEL komplexer wie mann einschaetzt. Die gekrummte kunststof fenster scheiben sind wahrscheinlich aus Plexiglass. Wenn nicht mehr da, eine teuere form zum kunststof-ziehen soll gemacht sein. Ein Englisches rad zum 3-D blechformen hilft hier nichts.
