Hi! So sorry about your corn...I had problems growing it too when I first started. I found out that corn is a heavy feeder. i added compost to my rows before planting, and side dressed with fertilizer. Then when the corn gets about 4 to 6 inches tall, I side dress it again with fertilizer, and again when the corn starts tasseling. always keep it watered well. Check for worms in the silks as often as possible. All these steps made a HUGE difference!

    • @thasfun

I do one feeding once it starts to grow. The other thing I learned in my research, when I began growing, is that corn needs plenty of water.

Corn needs nitrogen as well. Last year is the first time I successfully grew corn. I co-planted green beans with the corn. Preferably pole beans so they can vine up the corn stalk to make it sturdier. The greenbeans put nitrogen back into the soil. BTW, I've been gardening for 13 years, and every year I try to grow corn. Don't give up.

The many years I lived in East Central Pennsylvania in the Pocono Mountains. I always grew Silver Queen Corn. There is nothing that can compare. To harvesting ears of Silver Queen Corn. Husk the ears and right into a pot of boiling water.
When I retired. My wife and I moved to East Central Florida. I planted a section of my vegetable garden with Silver Queen Corn. That is supposed to grow well where we live. The insects and bugs attacked the corn a week after the seeds germinated. I’ve always grown all the vegetables not using any human made Insecticides. It was such a disappointment that the corn failed. Other than that. I grow vegetables year round. I have successfully grown a large variety of vegetable plants, and have great success. I hope your corn does well this year. I’m curious what area of the USA do you live?
