Wow. So many comments about ethical side of investing into gambling related companies...destroyed lifes. Fun fact, I just withdrew my 5 monthly salaries from an online casino 😅 then I was loooking for something to invest in...ended up investing 60% of that money into Evo stocks...(74,04€) 😂 Expecting another slight fall in the worst case scenario and then a confident growth. Another fun fact - I worked for them for 8 years as a game presenter.🙃

Full transparency: I don't own EVO as of January 9. This may change over the next few days, weeks, or months. I might also end up never owning the stock. Feel free to ask me over on X or Threads over the coming weeks whether my conviction in the stock has grown and I bought a position. Update (January 23): For full transparency, today I bought some shares (3%). No investment advice. I just felt obliged to share this after publishing the video in which I shared both the bull thesis but also the risks.
This is a very efficient business and thank you for covering. I am also hesitant to start a position for all the same reasons as you. In addition, I do not like the taxes I would face being I'm in the USA. A flat rate of 30% on capital gains regardless of holding duration is too high for my liking. Dividends are taxed at 15%, which is fair. However, if I'm buying Evolution it's for growth, not the dividend.

The lack of reinvestments, make the efficiency of the business also less valuable fwiw. I definitely need to do more research. I wasn't aware of the Swedish tax situation for instance, thanks for bringing this up.
Great video. One way to view the dividends is yes the gold standard is to reinvest it into the business, but alternatively you can take that cash and reinvest it elsewhere to compound. Regarding regulation, evolution are only providers of software to casinos, as opposed to operating as a casino which protects them somewhat. I agree the CFO stepping down is concerning. Many thanks and take care.
they are still expanding a lot make no mistake. this company has a +10 years runway at least. they are still gonna expand into brazil and other LATAM countries like colombia, the philippines and other US states when they regulate gaming.
Great video René. I agree with your opinion and note that Jacob Kaplan held shares in EVO $4m and warrants which now seem to be underwater. I had previously appreciated the management share ownership and wonder whats happening. I look forward to any further details on Mr. Kaplan's departure.

Thanks for sharing! What do you think of the CFO departure as of today?
Nice review I didn’t know the cfo stepped down. Where did you find that out? One think I am worried about is that since they are a ‘sin’ company, institutions will most likely shy away and this will limit the stock price To what extent, I’m not sure Good luck with your decision. The stock sure seems cheap right now

I haven‘t bought the stock as of today just to be clear.
Schon klar, aber wenn du eine Frage im Titel stellst, muss sie ja nicht rhetorisch bleiben. Hab deinen Kommentar aber hier in den Kommentaren ebne erst gelesen. ;-)
It is very niche, long-term profitable, a very good management team and the business model is not criminal (sorry but casinos are not my sense of Value or Values ). G5 makes games primarily for women. I like the social value there as well as the economical one. It also showed, that especially in crises like covid this kind of business model works as a kind of hedge. I have a small part of my portfolio in it. I sleep well, because of the social value, the good management, the earnings and the high dividend. If it gets better, then great, if it stays the same - great (because of the dividend). The only risk is, that they don't have a moat. (But casinos also don't have a moat). However, they have a very strong niche (which is not interesting for potential competitors) and as long as they have it, they will so fine. It is now much cheaper to buy then out then to recreate the whole business from the scratch.

I am also avoiding such company because of the nature of the business; gambling destroys lifes, it has done it historically, and i don't want to be gambling business owner, similarly as i wouldn't buy shsre in Altria or American British tobacco.

Good point. I tend to feel the same way, and it’s hard to argue against this line of reasoning.
Financials look good but I can't buy a company that hurts their customer's customers. People should be allowed to gamble but I don't want to support such an industry personally. Feel like its the equivalent of buying a coal company these days.

Yes to each their own. I respect that and I‘m not sure if I would be okay owning EVO myself from an ethical point of view. I own MGM indirectly via IAC though - never really thought about that. Is Meta not problematic at all? Probably not. So there‘s some tough personal decisions to make.
Would you be happy to invest in a company that has alcoholic drinks as part of its main operations? I would - even though I know some of their customers' lives will be negatively impacted by alcohol.
@@danguee1 I dont currently but yes. People know what they are buying when they buy alcohol. They think they have a chance of getting rich when they gamble and they don't. One says what is on the tin, the other lies.
Thanks for sharing. ❤from a Chinese investor who is interested about evo.

Thanks for the video . I am extremely bullish on evolution, it is second biggest position in my portfolio
So how would you address my concerns?
By taking a position.
Concern 1 : regulatory risk in UK - a) it is just 3% of their revenue b) the risk is more than incorporated in the price
What is the biggest position if I may ask?
they are still expanding a lot make no mistake. this company has a +10 years runway at least. they are still gonna expand into brazil and other LATAM countries like colombia, the philippines and other US states when they regulate gaming.
Sure. Good point.

worrying tbh, look forward to hearing more details
I own this.
Regulatory risk is there, indeed.
Rooting for a good outcome for you.

Gutes Video, allerdings wird am Ende nicht ganz klar, ob es jetzt ein klares Buy oder DontBuy ware 😉
Die Entscheidung musst du ohnehin lernen alleine zu treffen.

gambling bankrupts families, communities, and cities. It destroys people's lives and souls.

Other companies may be unethical too, but EVO is undoubtedly a sin (gambling) stock, like the tobacco stocks.
I will never buy gambling, tobacco, cannabis stocks.
scam casino dont invest
