Sarde (noun), [Sa-r-de]: A colloquial term used in the Middle East to describe the act of letting go & kicking off a stream of consciousness and a rambling narrative.
The Sarde After Dinner Podcast is a free space based out of the heart of Beirut, Lebanon, where Médéa Azouri & Mouin Jaber discuss a wide range of topics (usually) held behind closed doors in an open and simple way with guests from all walks of life.

Such a great episode! Very insightful to hear history from other side (not only western). Fan of Sarde from Spain here, where we also had periods of peaceful coexistence among religions (Al-Andalus) but unfortunately some historians also dismiss it. Great job! Please keep bringing Charles!
They dismiss it because it's literally not true in the way it is presented. "Convivencia" is a myth, the same way that this Charles Hayek person is presenting it as people "all loved each other and there was no difference". It's a politically correct version of history, and it's not hard to understand why he would preach such a thing : Lebanon is a polity which groups people who have a very hard time living together under the same roof for a century now.
Charles makes us proud of who we are and our traditions

انا طالب دراسات ثقافية بالمانيا بمجال المسرح والاعلام والموسيقى وبالاصل سرياني غادرت سوريا بسبب الحرب الحالية. حبيت بس قول هاد الشي بشان يكون البايس تبعي واضح. كل ما عم بحضر حلقات تشارلز دائما بكون مزعوج شوي وانا عم احضر وبعدين بيجي تشارلز وبيحكي "بس بحالة السريان الوضع غير" وبيهديني شوي. رأيي بشكل عام عن التعايش لنسبة كتير كبيرة بيتوافق مع تشارلز وبحترم رأيو كتير وانا حاليا عم بعمل فيلم عن هاد الموضوع تحديدا بس من وجهة نظر سريانية. بشكرك كتير على ذكر مجزرة السيفو... وانا متأكد انك انت بتعرف منيح انها ما كانت الأولى والأخيرة. وهون هي النقطة الي ما بتخليني مرتاح انو انا معك 100٪ انو لازم نحكي عن الشغلات المنيحة وكيف تعايشت هاي الشعوب بس انا ما فيني اسمع كتير عن التعايش الحبي بالمنطقة وعلى مدة بالقرن الماضي فقط 3 اجيال متتالية قتلت وهجرت وتدمر تاريخها بالمنطة قدام عينينا وبالأخير ما انحسبنا غير فرق عملة امام اعين العالم كلو الي شهد وما عمل شي. فرحت كتير لما سمعت منك انو رح تحكي عن مسيحيي سوريا ولبنان وفلسطين وبعدين بتحكي عن مسيحيي الأناضول وزعلت لما ما رجعت وحكيت عنهم بس معلش لكل فارس هفوة وانا بعرف انت ملم بالموضوع وهاد الشي بيفرحني كتير. شكراً على هاي الحلقة المهمة كتير والي بتعطيني شوية امل مهما كان ضئيل.
ما فهمت شي. شو بدك بالأخر؟ انو السريان انظلموا؟ اكيد انظلموا ، بسوريا مافي حدا ما انظلم ، كلنا رحنا بين الرجلين
الجزية ضريبة تفرض على رؤوس من دخل في ذمة المسلمين من أهل الكتاب. وهي من غير المسلمين قائمة مقام الزكاة من المسلمين، وذلك أن كل فرد من أفراد الدولة قادر على أن يؤدي قسطا مما يصرف في المصالح العامة يجب أن يفرض عليه هذا القسط ليكون له مقابل هذا الواجب التمتع بالحقوق
والمسيحيين العراقيين اللي انذبحوا واتهجرو في سيفو وسميل واخرها داعش وما حدا عم يحكي عنهم..
