I think this working by the crystal radio principle. If the radio stations are very near to your house, good signal will be available. But will it be sufficient to run a clock movement ? I haven't tried yet. I will try it. The crystal radio is working fine in our area. Thank you for the educational video....

White wire should be connected to the house earthing and green wire should be connected to a long copper wire. This copper wire should be open (remove the insulation) at the end, at least 6 inches minimum...
I think this copper wire antenna catches the radio waves. If your home is nearby radio station it works well due to strong signals.

Yes, just like calculator we can use small solar cell panel on clocks and use any normal cell to power it during nights. Most of the time it can just run on solar cell if there is sufficient light in the room.
