Owned a GU for 20yrs. Good choice. Front or rear Diff lock will be a choice. Most say the LSD in the rear is gold, but I had my locker in the rear. why not get both! Rear door will sag a little with the weight of the tyre, but nothing major. You will need another front-runner rack with that amazing stainless table to match the Nav ! Enjoy mate.
Great buy Tyler. Glad you went petrol patrol mate. Don’t put LPG on. A big transmission cooler would be a good addition. Can’t wait to see the mods soon.

Engine guard with dual inputs, one for the engine temp and one for the auto Trans temp. Rear bar with tyre carrier, especially if you intend on running larger tyres, the extra weight of the tyres eventually cracks your rear door.
First mods do the barn door opening latch with a gas strut then do the internal cabin filter, tiny and cheap mods but massive quality of life improvements

I don't think you'll regret getting a petrol, I bought a petrol Hilux for some of the reasons you mentioned like maintenance cost. Petrols generally don't have distributors or high tension leads any more, combined with diesels moving to electronic fuel injection = diesels losing their water crossing advantage imo. First mod? Big auto cooler + a temp gauge.
@@TylerThompson90 just a thought for paint protection. You mentioned possibly going for a wrap, maybe wrap it with your channel logo? Places like sinorama and other advertising/marketing specialists can do full car wraps. A good example would be what Sam Eyles did on Built not Bought. They may even sponsor it to be done if you show the process and advertise them
Best thing i ever did was get a petrol, i couldn't believe how well it did when i smashed the tracks.. I drive Diesels at work, noisy rubbish. You will also love the Auto for hills and sand.
Yerr the boys! After owning a np300 for 2 years I went to a y61 end of last year. It's a great choice I've never regretted it. Goodluck can't want to see you 4wding in it!
1000% well done Tyler, excellent choice and at 60 odd thousand kls she's barely run in (I have the exact Landcruiser clone of this, mine is the 105 with the same specs/features, I'm getting 450 to 480kls out of the main tank with the reserve to go so I reckon 700 out of the 2 tanks). Cant wait to see this build, super excited for you mate.
Very wise choice mate. Well done. I've had Nissan diesels, Toyota Diesels and a couple of petrols too. I recently did Cape York from Sydney in a Prado 120 petrol. I choose a petrol every day of the week mate. More reliable, powerful and nicer to drive. Can't wait to see the build!
Meant to be, Tyler. So exciting when you land a second hand vehicle in that condition and with such low mileage. A rare find indeed. Glad you went petrol too. I have a Lexus LX570 - the 5.7L petrol V8 puts a smile on my face every morning and it eats it up offroad. The smoothness, reliability and lower serving costs more than make up for the fuel costs. Looking forward to the mods.
Best 4wd I ever owned, had a GU 4.8 Ti. Never touched it, I am a retired mechanic and I would label them as bulletproof. A lot of things are bigger from memory. Rear pads are different and the radiator hangs down further. If I had a use for it I would have kept mine. Enjoy your Patrol. Regards Steve.
Great choice!... My thoughts are, over time , the patrol becomes the primary vehicle for...everything!...and the other will get sold ! Great channel, looking forward to more of your adventures.
Strongest drive train in the industry. Small lift and it will go most places. And no weak CVs to worry about. And the rear limit slip diff is great. A lock-right front diff lock and I will go anywhere.
Great stuff mate, glad you stuck with Nissan although I’m sure all the Toyota fan boys will come out saying what a massive mistake you made, looking forward to the build series and where you take this beast.
you have done well i have seen those things in the sand that engine has huge power it was making the dunes look so easy where the diesels were struggling you wont get out of it enjoy
Hey Tyler, super pumped you bought a Patrol. We didn't need a another "ultimate landcruiser build-up". Nice to see something different. Disclaimer though, I do own a 2010 GU ZD30 myself. It had it's teething issues, but super solid now. I've had it tuned, goes like a scolded cat now. Best mods I made are; Koni 88 shocks (best ride ever), LRA long range tank (30lt sub-tank replaced for a 75lt unit). Looking forward to build up series.
Well done on the purchase. I don't think you will be disappointed - looks in neat condition. One suggestion I'd make is to ensure you manually lock the hubs when you go off-road, especially in sand/mud. I used the auto-locking option most of the time when I first got mine and shagged out the OEM hubs in about 25,000 km. At that time, I had no idea auto-locking hubs don't engage as fully as manual. The auto-locks can also disengage completely if you go in reverse. For a little extra effort, manually engaging them will perform better and last longer. If you do flog them out, AVM after-market ones are great and you don't need to use a tool to lock/unlock them.
That engine is fantastic. Great performance. Great sound. And it just has a really nice feel to it. Make sure you enjoy it for what it is, and for what it gives you. If you obsess over fuel consumption then you are only focussing on the negative, and you are missing out. You are going to pay for the fuel anyway. Focus on the benefits you are getting from that. The smile it puts on your face. The feeling in your gut when it pushes you into the seat. I had a Disco 3 petrol V8. I always told people "It would use a lot less fuel if it didn't sound so damn good".
Awesome find mate, can’t wait to see the build and the trips, you inspired me to do up my 150 Prado iv owned since 2014, watching what you do with your navara ifs, they are capable taking the ifs 4x4s off road if there done right.
What a beaut rig 👍 looking forward to watching you build it up. The best thing about the TB 4800 is that you won't be spending extra money to get usable power.
Great find mate! One thing to keep in mind is the deterioration of rubber coolant hoses etc. even with low kms it’s worth checking due to age. You scored getting such a good vehicle. Can’t wait to see the build!!
Looking forward to this series! If you want some body protection, but not keen on wrapping or raptor coating, Rhinohide is an Aussie brand that makes panels that you add to the body that are fully removable and protect the 4wd really well!
The look on your face says it all... I would be excited too !! What a find. The TB48 is a ripper of an engine, the are super reliable, heaps of power. Done well Tyler great family tourer. Can't believe the klms and condition. At least you won't get the diesel issues, maintenance cost, etc yes it's a petrol. Personally I would not gas it... Well done it's awesome.👍👍👍👍
Welcome to the tb48 clube bloke. Love mine. Once your due for a new bar. Raslaar al the way. Gives it a tidy rear end. Barn door latch for further swing. Diff breathers. And enjoy.
That is in perfect condition! I can’t believe it. I just bought the tb48 petrol engine in the Middle East and I love it! This is without doubt the best 4WD ever built. If Nissan installed battery electric motor with pv cells on the bonnet, this vehicle would still be around in 100 years.
My Bride had a TD42 GQ which came with (factory) rear swaybar link disconnectors & we put manual, front ones on ot which was worth half a gear uphills. That means we got to hold gears longer on uphill runs which proved handy at times. With 33" tyres & a front locker (because the rear LSD was so good) it was almost unstoppable & I found myself looking for harder lines to drive. Without a huge number of modifications you should find yourself being very happy with the GU. Happy trails.
Good to have family 4wding videos coming too. Show people they can do it with the family. Prep it well, snorkel, 2 inch lift, set it as a tourer. Scrub bars and sidesteps. The rear LSD will be fine. Just do the front diff, e locker.
Awesome buy! I am a diesel mechanic and even though the 4.8 loves a drink, over the long run, the diesels service costs, particularly anything to do with injectors, even out the fuel costs. And the power! Diesels are slugs compared to the 4.8. Have fun.
Such a mint rig 👌 petrol, diesel doesn't matter, at the end of the day you got a well built vehicle with such low km's going to last probably forever without any unforeseen events 👍👍
Rear LSD is generally decent in these, so I'd look at a front locker later on. Long wheelbase means a shallower rampover angle, so maybe some custom sliders should be on the cards so you don't smash your sills. Also recommend a Wholesale Automatics Nomad Valve Body Kit and Torque Converter Lockup kit to give you that engine braking on downhill descents so you aren't riding your brakes, and while you're at it, a trans cooler. Heat is what kills an auto. Now, where's my sticker? 😂
I would be interested in checking whether the Patrol or Nav have the longer wheelbase. Either way I suspect the Patrol will have a better ramp over angle as they really do have better clearance in the middle.
@@peterj5751 Funny you mention that. I just had a quick Google search and the Nav is 3.2m while the GU is 2.97m, so you certainly are right, but as with all vehicles it comes down to clearance in the way of suspension and tyre size, so depends what Tyler has in mind. If he went 33s with the factory steps, then I think the Nav would potentially outdrive it in relation to ramp over. 35s on the other hand, well, I'll hand to to the troll every day of the week. 🤠
Beautiful GU (in burnt silver?) Certainly looks like a clean rig, that 4.8 WILL use the fuel, but their reliability was head and shoulders above the 3.0 diesel at the time. Far more nicer engine on the road too. You'll love this rig!
I had one my Dad left me (2007 model, 4.8L)when he passed away. Heaps of grunt but did chew the juice! Took a caravan for a trip with it and was burning 24L per 100km on the highway. Ouch.
@@natwally7869 probably wouldn't wanna tow around Australia, but for what Tyler is using it for, it will make it a good fit. Plus they drive soooo much nicer than the 3lt diesel tractor!!
Glad to see you didn't go with the ZD30. Just wait till you take it through a bit of sand, that's where the petrol really shines. You'll have difficulty wiping that smile off your face. Re the mods, plan carefully before setting off on replacing a bunch of stuff. You may want to upgrade the GVM. Payload capacity is pretty low on them, so before you go buying a bunch of suspension stuff go talk to an engineer about that. And water crossings are fine. It's not a model T.
You got a beauty there mate! Don’t worry about fuel; my 200 series petrol burns 23L/100 or more towing and same around town. Didn’t stop me taking it everywhere up north incl Lorella. 400k range is all you need.
That's a terrific find mate, the TB48 are a great motor from all accounts and slapping a turbo onto one of them can push some serious numbers. You are not going to regret the patrol or the motor.
A worth wile mod to the rear doors is after market hinders that allow the doors to open wider, makes loading & unloading so much better Good Buy, Good luck with it.
Bloody great find! Insanely clean to a point that it's almost a shame to know that mods will be done to it BUT, it's what they're for. If there's one thing I'll stress on, please do not fit a friggen stainless snorkel on it! Stick to a safari, had a couple of 4by's come in lately with drowned air filter boxes from the down pipe gutters that have been fitted, no rain protection when parked and the rainy wind blowing towards the opening. As for the price, I look at it this way, new they were bloody expensive and well that thing is basically new and only cost ya 30g,that's a win in my books.
@@4x4mate38 yeah nah after seeing a couple do it and others say that the novelty of the induction noise gets annoying after a while. Worst one was an 8 month old navara come in running like absolute crap, derated, and the engine light on. Plugged the scanner in, air flow fault, opened the air cleaner box and lifted the filter up and out, water was dripping off it! Looked in the box and the bottom was still a 3rd full as when the guttering was fitted they'd blocked the filter box drain hole as most do for river cross ability. Admittedly there was windy heavy rain the night before but just unlucky that where he parks it, the rain came down with a tail wind towards his car and filled the filter box up through the guttering pipe. New filer, removed the sikaflex that sealed the drain hole and made removable plugs for when he needs to cross a river.

Such an underrated car what a find! I have the tb45 and it’s the most reliable car I have owned Yes it chews the juice but I share the cost when towing my boat on remote fishing trips I only have to worry about one fuel as the boat also runs on petrol I recently got mine raptor coated and it now looks brand new Gets a lot of looks I’ve had it now for 15 years and over that time I’ve slowly modified it 2”lift upgraded springs and shocks with air bags Roof rack with solar panel Rear draws and fridge slide Duel lithium battery under bonnet Came with a bull bar and uhf radio It’s done 370k and still going strong All the best with your build
Welcome to the patrol gang..nice buy..I've had my 4.5 for 20 years now with 370k now on it and still going strong so yours not even run in yet..firm believer in snorkel and headers/exhaust to make them breathe better and a petrol can definitely suck water in... Rear lsds are good so alot just put front locker in..also good idea to manually lock front hubs on harder tracks... Great place to source spares from is patrolapart / navarapart down here in Melbourne .. Look forward to build series..
Awesome rig I had one before selling it for a td42. Only issues I had with the petrol is the fuel bill but the power and auto is much better. Looking forward to seeing it being modified 👌 🍻
Tyler i own a tb48, you won't regret at them km's. They make an iso adapter for your new stereo, also you will need adapter for the funky antenna plug. Engines are bullet proof however they do suffer from valve recess, your owners manuall states to have valves shimmed at 125kms. For this reason many dont put on lpg, i built my head for lpg and she runs great as my daily, combined milage is close to new diesels! I found not using cruise control and understaning the dual stage overdrive is best to save on fuel. Being an auto they run a hybrid flyby wire, these throttle bodies commonly fail but at much higher kms approx 200km+.
Having owned a 3.0 litre TD, 4.5 and 4.8 petrol patrols, it’s the 4.8 that shines. It’s only Achilles heal is fuel economy. I sold my 4.8 for new 76 series and quite often wish I hadn’t. You’ve made the right choice.
Mate, what a clean rig you done well and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait to see the build up and what you do. Definitely get something for the paint i reckon like bush barrier or something. Cheers shad 🍻
Great pick up mate. Looks like you got one that's in good nick for a personal build. My first choices would be suspension upgrade, tyres, locker, snorkel/air box. 👍
One thing the TB48 is coil pack on plug so no dramas with water crossings. I had one exact the same as yours did a trip around oz towing a camper and it performed flawlessly. One thing that’s needs to be done if your planning on running bigger rubber 33 or 35 put some 4.1 for 33s or 4.3 for 35s diff gears in makes them heaps better off-road and heaps with fuel economy. Standard is 3.5 which is quite low. Jump on 4.8 page on FB heaps of info on there. Good buying mate enjoy
Hey mate this is in mint condition even the interior is immaculate. Also if you are going to swap you diff centers you can get top dollar for your 3.54 centers I paid a lot for my centers as I’m putting a Cummins in my wagon. If you do decide to swap them advertise them on the Patrol Cummins swap pages will sell like hot cakes mate
My gu i have front arb airlocker and left the rear lsd diff alone. The lsd works great and no reason to mess with it. Also if you remove the lsd and put a locker in than your converting it to a open diff which will require the use of the locker alot more than necessary

We've had a 03 TB48 for 17 years Only just put new spark plugs in it last year... Engine has given zero problems. Towing a 2tonne boat over the great deviding range, the engine does get hot, but it's never been an issue. Great Auto Amazing on Sand 2" Lift and that's it. It gets backed into the ocean every month launching the boat off a sand beach... Amazingly, Its still all together
Great choice Tyler, looking forward to the build series. Also, interested to see you driving it. I wheel with a few guys with solid axle front and rear 4wd's and they often get stuck in places my IFS doesn't due to clearance at the front. That said, of course they get far better flex.....

Looking forward to seeing the build, and the differences with the upgrades.
Brilliant buy mate! The TB48's have always received a great rap, even throughout the Patrol community. Looking forward to seeing a build series on one of these as most of the ones on TH-cam are Barra, LS or Cummins swapped. A few things I'd consider for the long term is getting all your hoses checked in the service (after 20 years you could imagine they get a bit rough) and while you're at it consider some extended braided brake lines for when you're putting the lift and bigger tyres on, putting a auto trans cooler in if you're considering towing. In that same vein just do a little research into how much weight you're considering adding and how close you'll be towards the upper limit of the GVM, the Patrols are heavy and it doesn't take to going over. For future mod work; • when you're doing the lift you'll probably want to brace the rear coil towers as they have been known to perish a little with time. •Throw in a decent adjustable drag link as you'll no doubt end up with your steering wheel being a little off centre, •a decent set of sliders will help with the ramp over, good set of bash plates, •maybe swap out the rear bar for something a little more durable if you're worried about keeping things in good shape as they get bumped around a bit, •you can do some mods to help with the small barn door swing when you're not parked level, •if you go a bigger set of tyres and increase the offset consider putting in on the rear bar as the added weight can stress the door •a good set of wheels and tyres when you upsize as the death wobbles will drive you insane if they're out of whack. But that's all things that might not even bother you either, ever patrol and their driver are different. I'm just stoked to see you enjoy one!

Yeah awesome mate, thanks for the advice. Definitely keen to learn about the Petrol and add some things to it
Agree re auto cooler plus full auto service too...now😉
I regretted buying mine. Shit itself halfway through the Simpson, cost me $8k to get the thing out lol
And with old 4wd if the diesel pump goes, your in debt
@@deandangerfield9134 Must be your own fault. My Patrol has been through the Simpson twice, no problem at all.
You’ve got the best configuration there. I am glad for you that was my choice too when you asked. Woohoo
Looks great. Can't wait to see the build process.
Cheers mate 👌
@@TylerThompson90 just a thought for paint protection. You mentioned possibly going for a wrap, maybe wrap it with your channel logo? Places like sinorama and other advertising/marketing specialists can do full car wraps. A good example would be what Sam Eyles did on Built not Bought.
They may even sponsor it to be done if you show the process and advertise them
Best thing i ever did was get a petrol, i couldn't believe how well it did when i smashed the tracks.. I drive Diesels at work, noisy rubbish.
You will also love the Auto for hills and sand.
when doing the build let us know what weight you add/remove , keep an eye on your GVM, may be find a weigh bridge and weigh it now before you start
What a ripper Tyler. I think the angels are looking out for you. Congratulations and best of luck with the Patrol.
Nice new rig mate, one of the best looking patrols that are left, just don’t put diesel in lol
Great choice mate, I had one quite a few years ago and loved it, wish I still had it... the same colour too. Keen to see the build
Great choice!... My thoughts are, over time , the patrol becomes the primary vehicle for...everything!...and the other will get sold ! Great channel, looking forward to more of your adventures.
I used to have a patrol, and the only mods I had was good tyres, snorkel, exhaust and tune, and it went everywhere
Strongest drive train in the industry. Small lift and it will go most places. And no weak CVs to worry about. And the rear limit slip diff is great. A lock-right front diff lock and I will go anywhere.
Hope you got plenty money for the fuel bill, had one they go great but very thirsty looks like a good one all the best with it Tyler.
Great stuff mate, glad you stuck with Nissan although I’m sure all the Toyota fan boys will come out saying what a massive mistake you made, looking forward to the build series and where you take this beast.
Nah im a Toyota fan boy but even we know that patrols are the best 4x4
you have done well i have seen those things in the sand that engine has huge power it was making the dunes look so easy where the diesels were struggling you wont get out of it enjoy
Great find Tyler, I picked up a emaculate 98 TI tb45 last year with 70k on the clock, love it
Welcome to the 4.8ltr club. The BEST nissan patrol ever built... 💪💪
Woohooooooooooooo great buy and find champ ,now the build begins ,may the force be strong
I'm really enjoying the Patrol videos. I just bought a 2010 GU Patrol with 32,000 kms and I'm loving it!
Looking forward to seeing more build videos.
Enjoy!
@Michael J I don't think this guy is talking about the engine.
Awesome find. She's a very young 18 year old!
A tear will be shed when she gets her first pinstripes!
Welcome to the TB48 club. Consider a rear bar to get the wheel off the door and save you ripping off the stupid rear bumpers/lights.
Awesome find mate, can’t wait to see the build and the trips, you inspired me to do up my 150 Prado iv owned since 2014, watching what you do with your navara ifs, they are capable taking the ifs 4x4s off road if there done right.
Oh man so dope !!! Can't wait to this build and convince the wife to let me do the same.
Doesn't matter when or where if it is a Patrol I love it.Good choice mate .Love your channel a lot.
Thanks 👍
What a beaut rig 👍 looking forward to watching you build it up. The best thing about the TB 4800 is that you won't be spending extra money to get usable power.
Great find mate! One thing to keep in mind is the deterioration of rubber coolant hoses etc. even with low kms it’s worth checking due to age. You scored getting such a good vehicle. Can’t wait to see the build!!
Good call. Replacing all the usual suspects should be high on the list. Hoses, oils, fluids, filters, belts, wheel bearings, battery.
Nice job getting #40 on trending! The old Patrol is mint!
You just went up a few notches with this purchase.
Very smart move.
Best motor ever made.
I got the clear wrap
Got to have the childrens head smasher on the front why else would you drive one anywhere?
I bought a Patrol one week ago!
1998 petrol , manual ! I’m so happy!
Nice car
How much do you need to spend for a significant gain. I just bought one and find the power very underwhelming.
Good to see you finally have a real 4x4 mate 😃. Love ya work
A worth wile mod to the rear doors is after market hinders that allow the doors to open wider, makes loading & unloading so much better Good Buy, Good luck with it.
Just picked one up myself not too long ago for my first 4wd so I'm so keen to see this build 🤙
I want a stainless steel snorkel. But not sure now. Ha ha
Get the Haynes manual which covers all GU's.
Super easy instructions for all maintenance and contains a few interesting bits and pieces about what to look out for at various km intervals.
Nice choice i did the same thing only ever had diesel engine 4wds but had the opportunity to pickup tb48 and haven't looked back love it can't wait to see how you build your one.
Hey Tyler, looks great...I know how you feel.... I have a 2006 TD 4.8 STL ... 75K kilometres on the clock... I have had it since new and very happy..😊
Such an underrated car what a find!
I have the tb45 and it’s the most reliable car I have owned
Yes it chews the juice but I share the cost when towing my boat on remote fishing trips
I only have to worry about one fuel as the boat also runs on petrol
I recently got mine raptor coated and it now looks brand new
Gets a lot of looks
I’ve had it now for 15 years and over that time I’ve slowly modified it
2”lift upgraded springs and shocks with air bags
Roof rack with solar panel
Rear draws and fridge slide
Duel lithium battery under bonnet
Came with a bull bar and uhf radio
It’s done 370k and still going strong
All the best with your build
Lift 3" exhaust, as good as the lsd is defiantly front and rear lockers, snorkel great rig, good luck you'll love it.
Thanks mate!
Torque converter lockup kit is crucial when going off road on steep tracks. Makes it so you’ve got engine braking.
Wow mate, that is a pearler, great find and looks very very tidy. Have fun with this family wagon, great content as always.
Found the perfect rig legend…happy days!!!
Looking forward to watching then build unfold!
🤙🏼
My gu i have front arb airlocker and left the rear lsd diff alone. The lsd works great and no reason to mess with it. Also if you remove the lsd and put a locker in than your converting it to a open diff which will require the use of the locker alot more than necessary
I bought a petrol forsake reasons. 2 mates have twin locked 4.8's with 35's.
Unstoppable, we do the 1000 dollar track. Amazing off road. Will smash the Nav with right bits
Hi Tyler
Nice Mate great buy.
My Son had a 2002 Petrol Landcruiser go anywhere unbelievable except fuel economy on a trip all over Fraser Island & a couple hrs away from Fraser he averaged 40 litres per 100 kms
Just lived with it, thanks enjoy your videos stay safe thanks
We've had a 03 TB48 for 17 years
Only just put new spark plugs in it last year...
Engine has given zero problems.
Towing a 2tonne boat over the great deviding range, the engine does get hot, but it's never been an issue.
Great Auto
Amazing on Sand
2" Lift and that's it.
It gets backed into the ocean every month launching the boat off a sand beach...
Amazingly, Its still all together
I am happy for you mate.. for this reason.. you are happy. happy motoring in the newbie
Great lookin truck, my son has one and has never had an problem with it... I call it the Beast, it's an amazing 4B
Cool as, looks like my 100 when I picked it up. Completely grandpa, same old spotties, similar colour and everything by the looks.
Great choice Tyler, looking forward to the build series. Also, interested to see you driving it. I wheel with a few guys with solid axle front and rear 4wd's and they often get stuck in places my IFS doesn't due to clearance at the front. That said, of course they get far better flex.....
Not to talk shit on your pajero but a patrol will outdrive it anyday anywhere stock for stock lol. Pajero is better in sand though
@@Jacobtheunwise way to to cancel out your own argument. Suppose that's why Nissan went with the y62 then.
@@UncannySense nissan went with the y62 because ifs rides 100 times better onroad . Nothing to do with the offroad capabilities considering most people that buy one will never take it offroad
@@Jacobtheunwise think it's horses for courses. But stock, yeah the GU's are pretty awesome.
My friends that have patrols all have GU's and I don't think they'd trade them for anything.
@@OffTheBeatenPathAus yeah mate gu is the best patrol by far. Pajero is definitely the better bang for your buck though
Great buy mate, I have a Lexus LX 470 and if you worry about fuel consumption try one of these, bloody horrendous on fuel, but I love it. Like has been said maintenance cost with petrol are a lot less so running costs overall a probably similar.
Love your channel mate. I also watch 4wd 24/7 and the reason I bring that up is because you asked about ideas to protect the paintwork, and Sean uses some clear protective coating which I cannot remember the name of it, but I am sure there are other viewers that know the name and hopefully comment or maybe you could contact your mate at Drifter, because he would know.
Looking forward to seeing the build, and the differences with the upgrades.
Toyota Fan here, and this is excellent! Great choice.
As soon as I heard that engine flash up I knew it was the TB48. Great choice!
For future mod work;
• when you're doing the lift you'll probably want to brace the rear coil towers as they have been known to perish a little with time.
•Throw in a decent adjustable drag link as you'll no doubt end up with your steering wheel being a little off centre,
•a decent set of sliders will help with the ramp over, good set of bash plates,
•maybe swap out the rear bar for something a little more durable if you're worried about keeping things in good shape as they get bumped around a bit,
•you can do some mods to help with the small barn door swing when you're not parked level,
•if you go a bigger set of tyres and increase the offset consider putting in on the rear bar as the added weight can stress the door
•a good set of wheels and tyres when you upsize as the death wobbles will drive you insane if they're out of whack.
But that's all things that might not even bother you either, ever patrol and their driver are different. I'm just stoked to see you enjoy one!
Thanks for all the advice mate!
@@TylerThompson90 you're welcome mate, anytime.
Hi Tyler. Congratulations on the new vehicle.
If you hear of another one please let me know. Been chasing a low K/M petrol 4.8 myself. Great vehicle.. great choice. Cheers
Good choice, I got the Navara Outlaw with the 9VX diesel engine and never look back, enjoy my mate
New drinking game.
Take a shot every time Tyler says “20 year old vehicle” 🤣
After going from IFS on 32’s, my Patrol needed 35’s to have the same clearance, something to consider!
Looking forward to build series 😬
brilliant Tyler, these 4-8 are a top 4wd you will be happy with it they are very capable in standard form and fuel is the cheapest thing you will put in your 4wd, with a few mods it will be a weapon, cheap at $28000 and low kms
Dude, great video, thanks for your efforts!! The way you phrase things is great!!
cheers!
You'll be vert happy with the petrol power on sand they go so good with instant power unlike a Diesel. I think you made a great choice mate looking forward to seeing you enjoy it.
Congratulation with the purchase and happy Patrolling. Wagons in general are not designed to carry heavy weight but they can pull trailer for sure. Would love to see how far can factory standard patrol go with proper off road tires.
