So paknsave went into a legal battle to try and secure it and *Lost* so that second countdown is the biggest middle finger to paknsave because now paknsave has over 15-25 rented spaces that sit empty that they still have to pay fees such as maintenance, taxes and insurance until the foodtown/countdown lease expires.

SuperValue, Countdown, and Woolworths were all owned by Progressive, forming their low-market, mid-market, and up-market stores respectively. But Woolworths' eventually lost out to its Foodstuffs competitor New World, so Progressive closed down all the Woolworths stores and turned most of them into Countdown stores. So there are actually quite a few locations around New Zealand with adjacent Countdown stores because of it.

( Countdown Napier) The other used by mainly (middle class) people with a range of ages and shoppers general dress nicely when they shop ( Countdown Caryle) Pak N Save Napier is where you will see literally people walking around pj's and gumboots aimed at poorer class. Above is not always the case but just in general terms it is. In general terms Countdown in Napier city is slightly more expensive ( honestly not by much if negligible few dollars here there ) but usually have better deals on mult buy options and confectionery Pak n Save is cheaper but the range is far less than impressive and customer service is much worst at PnS in comparison to either Countdowns. Depends on what your after in your shopping experience.
