I didn't see many (any?!) reviews up on TH-cam yet for the new Topeak Shuttle Gauge Digital, so I thought I would put something together. Included are my initial impressions, an overview of features, a comparison to the SKS Airchecker, and my random thoughts on tubeless valve deflation location. :)
in another video the reviewer said that the SKS has a "continuous" mode that can be changed pressing the on button, in that way it keeps reading the pressure, great video man.
Thanks for doing an actual accuracy check. Much more thorough than another YooToob "test" I watched, in which the reviewer guessed what was in his tires, then checked them. Apparently didn't even go to any trouble to check with his floor pump, presuming he had one. You didn't check against a "gold-standard" gauge - and pointed out why that isn't necessary. The most important thing you showed is that the readings were consistent. And 'close enough' to two other gauges. Many thanks for a well-thought-out review!
I just order SKS airchecker . I hope it's accurate enough to tell me how accurate is my Lezyne floor pump. I replaced analogue gauge to my floor pump few years ago and now I want to check does that gauge tell me a correct pressure. Need to consider Topeak if I'm not satisfied for SKS product
@@kevinhill.8 okay, i had my SKS Airchecker today and I compared readings to my Lezyne CNC Floor Drive pump. Few years ago I replaced analogue gauge to my Lezyne pump because it stop to work. Result of my test is that Lezyne show about 0,6bar bigger readings. Lezyne shows 7,5bar and Airchecker 6,9bar. I was testing with 6bar and 8,5bar pressure as well and difference is same 0,6bar with all those test points.
Thanks for the review. You should not fill the tyre at the 6 o clock position. I have had problems with this in which the sealant gets hard due to the air been forced over it and thus drying it out. When I removed the tyre all the sealant had dried out exactly in line with the value. Thus I no longer do this.
I have gen 1 SKS Airchecker. My main problem is it does not work on a number of valve stems. It simply cannot keep a good seal when attempting to measure the pressure and I am just letting all the air out of the tire when I attempt to do so. Thanks for your review of the Topeak Shuttle Gauge and I like what I see so far.
Glad the review helped, and thank you for sharing your experience with the SKS Airchecker. My wife and I have continued to use the Topeak Shuttle Gauge quite often, and it is still functioning perfectly. This thing is great!
Does the Topeak read in tenths? Looks like just half psi increments but how low. Asking for winter fat biking when pressures go really low. Nice review. Thanks
That's a good point, and one I hadn't thought of. I'm not sure how low it goes, but given the max is like 300 psi I doubt it would be super accurate in the single digits (most gauges read most accurately in the center of their range). That said, I've used it down into the low teens, and it seems pretty accurate there, so maybe I'm wrong.
I put my valves at 6 o’clock. My thinking is the same as yours, gravity will draw the sealant out of the valve. Great review, just what I was looking for. Good spot on using it for shocks too! I just noticed your video is 3 years old, is the Topeak still working well?
Have you had any issues with “solo use”? When I attach it to my Presta valve it just lets all the air out the pump side when there’s no pump attached. Nice video, it sold me on the gauge. Cheers
I believe so, I attach it with the presta valve setting, lock it on, and all the air just rushes straight out the pump attachment side. Have you got a valve in the pump attachment side I’m missing? Also is there a small pin prick sized hole in the rubber cover on yours? Thanks for replying
Ben Chamberlain I took a closer look at mine for you. There is a small hole in the cap; likely to let air out so it can close easily. The pump side has the Presta with the Schrader adapter over it, but they aren’t relevant anyway since they aren’t sealing anything. Something internal keeps the air from flowing out, and I think yours is defective. I would submit a warranty claim.
paradox963 So far I really like it! The fact that it doesn’t dry out, yet seems to seal just as well as other options on the market (according to others’ experiences and tests; I haven’t had any punctures yet 🤞🏼) makes it the best out there right now IMO.
Mark Brown - I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Shrader and Presta can both fit into the back of the gauge, so it should work fine from what I can tell.
Hello brother, My English is bad. Please tell me which one is better and why ? I'm planning to buy sks air checker version 2.0 and meet your video. But you made this video 2 years ago. Maybe this sks air checker was firts version. Can you help which one is better ? Also schwalbe has a air check device. Thanks. Have a nice day.

This was exactly what I was looking for. I just bought one. Thanks for the review!
Glad it helped you out! Keep up the good (sword) fight! ;)
you have a charisma in reviews :) even the tiniest detail!
Haha, thanks so much. Glad my attention to detail is appreciated. :)
Same issue as Ben when using the Topeak Shuttle Gauge in solo mode ...air rushes straight through ...nice video Kevin
Thanks! Sorry to hear you are having an issue. Let us know if you get it figured out.

Hadn't thought of that, but it's a very good point!
Good to know that we can use at shock pump too! I will buy one from Topeak. Thanks for the review 🤘🏻
Thanks Leandro. Glad it was useful!
Just bought a Topeak Shuttle as I wanted more air flow control and accuracy for my tubeless road wheels. Really is a very nice tire gauge..
Nice!! Yes, once you have precision it’s hard to go without. Glad it’s working well for you. Happy riding. 🚴

Nice review. Thanks
I noticed that too. .5 increments isn't going to cut it for fat biking, and is disappointing considering what this costs.

Can you connect a Schroder pump at the back and still pump up a Presta ?
Yes, the pump head is compatible with both Presta and Schrader pumps. Thx for your question and for watching and commenting!
Oh wow!! I knew you could use it on the shock pump cause of the 300 psi but it never ocurred to me to hook it directly to the shock pump.
Nice! It’s a pretty handle little tool. Thx for watching and commenting.

Thanks. Yeah, it's still working great!
You know you could have connected the topeak gauge in tandem with your floor pump and read them simultaneously.
Didn’t realize or think about that. Thx!
Do you still like it?
Yes. Still using it regularly, and continues to work great.
@@kevinhill.8 thanks for the update.

Ben Chamberlain, I haven’t experienced that. Is everything attached correctly and fully?
I believe so, I attach it with the presta valve setting, lock it on, and all the air just rushes straight out the pump attachment side. Have you got a valve in the pump attachment side I’m missing? Also is there a small pin prick sized hole in the rubber cover on yours? Thanks for replying

Kevin Hill thanks for looking into it for me
Kevin!
how do you like the Finishline sealant?

It's what I currently have in my tires but I also haven't had any punctures yet, I guess time will tell.
paradox963 UPDATE: Due to a plethora of bad reviews online, I decided to ditch my FL sealant, and I’ve switched to Orange. 🍊
Thank you. It was very helpful to me. :)
Nice, I'm glad it helped!
Very good! Thanks a lot.
Glad you liked it, and thx for commenting. 👍🏼
Can it be used on an electric pump?
Mark Brown - I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Shrader and Presta can both fit into the back of the gauge, so it should work fine from what I can tell.
Good review, thanks
Glad it was helpful!
FYI, the current version of the SKS has a "real time mode" that will display pressure changes as you deflate. Does not look like yours has that.
Nice! Mine doesn’t. That’s a cool upgrade. Thx for sharing.
Can u send me one? I can't find on México :(
order internationally then. in Norway that means 25% import tax.
Sorry, hope you found one!
I put mine at 3 o clock
That should work!

Sorry Alper, I don't have any experience with other air checkers. And no worries about your English, it seems great to me!
@@kevinhill.8 thanks for answer. I bought airchecker 2 and I like it. it is working good. 🤝😊
