  • Automatically remove and replace content in your images, with a choice of a brush tool or by filling selected areas. Also see how to use the Inpainting Brush Tool non-destructively.

Thanks, I knew about the in-painting tool, but did not try the polygon selection tool underneath the freehand/lasso selection tool. Current layer and below was also useful. Very useful to know and should save me some time in the future.

Inpainting onto an empty layer is much better than onto the image itself. It's just weird that you can't have "current layer and below" as the default setting for the inpainting tool.

I congratulate you for the new tutorials where the image of the person who is explaining does not appear, since this image distracts and covers part of the program's interface. Congratulations!

I was tearing my hair out trying to do an inpaint using shapes or selections. What i didn't realise was that you have to physically rasterize the layer you are working on to prevent in inpaint option from being greyed out.

is there any difference /advantage between duplicating the original pixel layer and inpainting on that compared to inpainting on an empty layer as done here? Less memory? faster?

i would assume there isn't much of a difference, but the workflow benefits are various.

Actually what is the difference when it comes to the inpainting between version 1 and 2 of Affinity photo?

@@pixelfungaming And they didn't mention about it as the new feature in V2? 🤐

@@pixelfungaming It's just a shame that inpainting from the edit menu only appears to work on the active layer, not current layer and below. That makes it basically useless for me since 99.9% of the time I want to inpaint/clone/heal whatever in a non-destructive way. It's a shame because Affinity Photo is almost fantastic, for whatever reason it just seems to miss the mark on everyday usability.

@@johnkemp3592 Yeah its a disappointment but I just create a duplicate layer to paint on and I can make a mask if I want to bring something back.

@@pixelfungaming There is inpaint option in edit menu in AP v 1. I used it frequently in past. I've just opened v 1 and am looking at this.🙂

Inpainting the corners after rotating an image still doesn't work intuitively. I'd like to see that fixed. (Or maybe I'm doing it wrong??)
