McEnroe is a freaking national treasure. Dude is 64, moves better than most 50 year olds. How many guys his age you see playing court sports with no knee braces or anything? He's done a great job keeping himself in shape! Which I'm thankful for, so we get to see him in events like this.

Yeah that's crazy, mind you my dad who never really competed at high level except in boxing long time ago, is playing tennis, good movement too and he'll be 70 in December. When I think about it it's crazy I get to still do sport with him, most people that age just can't

Yes, John always looks fit and trim. He has the best hands and that really helps with pickleball. I'm about the same age as his brother, Patrick, and used to practice at Stanford when he played there. As I plan to play 55+ 4.5 singles tournaments, I'll probably face some older guys with knee braces. I cannot feel sorry for them just because I'm in better shape! :)

Pickelball, in general, around the country, steals already made tennis courts for their use. Before the tennis courts were there, people had to petition, plan, acquire the funds for and build those courts. This is the number one reason I disrespect anything pickelball, unless it is built on a stand alone facility that didn't have tennis courts on that same land before that.
Say what you want about calling it a sport, it is a sport. But kind of a joke that it needs to much promotion to build itself into something taken seriously.
It's all the rage with 40 plus people because, unbknownst to the masses, people are getting more injuries, less healthy, less mobile, than in decades past at the same age That is one of the big reasons there are tennis crossovers who are great at the sport. Because, initially, it feels better and one is already a decade ahead of a startup pickleballer if they played high level tennis. People are generally weaker now than they were, despite the few who goto gyms. People who have played repetitive cutting and movement sports with a racket get injuries that they do not know how to solve, and their doctors and the drug/poor nutirtion industry is really just exacerbating the problems.
So, in essence, the whole deal of pickleball is that it is for less fit and healthy players than tennis, en masse. The fact that those pickeballers take up tennis courts is why I get pissed off, and other tennis people do too.
What if St. Andrews got run over by miniature golf people? Basically, that's the scenario.
