  • I had a few questions about how I made my my Inchies on my journal page last month so I said I would do a video showing how I made them. I hope this helps and you create some pretty little inchies. :-)

    I have used these for years to make greeting cards. Four or 6 of them lined up in twos, makes a lovely card of any type.... birthday cards, Christmas cards, whatever you choose. They can even be used as embellishments in journals, & on tags. It's all up to your imagination and what kinds of designs you come up with.

      Versatile little art pieces aren't they! :-) Thanks so much for watching. I appreciate it. :-)

    Not sure how I stumbled across this tutorial, but glad I did. Never seen inchies etc before, but they will be lovely addition to the cards and journals I make, or as a focal point on clusters for paper clips. Ooo! So many ideas running around in my head now. Thankyou for sharing this. Love n hugs from Victoria in England 👍😘👏🏼🇬🇧

      Thank you Chana :-) I hope you do make some. They are fun. I don't have a playlist for the music. It's been so long since I made the video I am not sure what songs I used. I can tell you though that I just used the free music from TH-cam Music. :-)

    Thank you for going the extra mile and doing a full explanation. I like the way the inchies transform as you progress. The extra I want to do after I do the arrangement on my page, is to actually let an image or two go outside of the inchie. The piece of fabric you used, the burlap (I think), the fiber that extended past the inchies looked really nice and I thought it would look nice to keep it. As I write this you showed the ribbon you kept long (like minds, I guess). In general, I love the 3D of fabric.

      +Hickety Pickety Thank you Sonja. :-) Inchies are not my favorite thing to do because they are so small but I was asked how I made mine so I was happy to show them. When I was younger I didn't mind working on small things. I used to do small ceramic ornaments and small fabric items. But the older I get the less I like smaller stuff. lol Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it. :-)

    • @BlackbearyForest
      @BlackbearyForest  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well hello again then. :-) Thank you Donna. :-) You know....I know it's hard. I've been there quite a few times and what I found to work the best for me is to just sit down at my table and clean it up. Touching odd and end pieces sometimes sparks my interest in making something small like an ATC and not put any effort into it. Just glue down paper or put down a few strokes of paint. It doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to fulfill your need, whatever that need is. You can always pretty it up later. I also have a book I throw junk in. It's not a pretty book. lol It's just intended to act as a place to do something without pressure. I started this book when I was dragging my feet after a stressful year recently. I hope you find your groove again soon but in the meantime be easy on yourself. :-)

    • @DonnaHarris3578
      @DonnaHarris3578 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I sorta did that yesterday. I got a few pieces of junk art some friends sent me (that's what I ask for) I cut 2 into atc size and the rest into inchie size with a couple a little scraps left over. Then I cleaned the middle of my table where I work. That's about as far as I got but it helped! I see things I really want to do but I just can't seem to get past the thinking stage. I know I'll get there one day..

    • @BlackbearyForest
      @BlackbearyForest  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great start. I think a lot too when stuff is going on. But thinking isn't as much fun as creating so hope you get there soon!!! :-)

      Here is the info off the side of my camera. I have been using this camera a long time and I don't know if they still sell this version in stores. There are more updated versions though. My husband bought me another camera for my birthday but things have been so hectic I haven't even been able to use it yet. I will get around to changing cameras eventually but this one I use now has been wonderful and honestly am not sure I am ready to upgrade until it quits on me. I guess I'm kind of attached to it. lol I love the remote on it and how it works. I hope this helps you.

    • @CatHand
      @CatHand 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Laurie Richardson Haley It'll still work on the shiny surface, but you have shake the pen and then prime the pen, not the paper, by pushing the tip down on a scrap paper till the paint flows. You mainly got water when you used it - that's why it was that light pink color. :)

    • @BlackbearyForest
      @BlackbearyForest  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Cat Hand Ohhhh ok, I see what you are saying. Got it. :-) Maybe deep down I really didn't want to paint that heart or I would have tried harder. lol I thought the color was awfully pale. I don't even remember if I shook the pen. I definitely didn't shake it hard enough if I did. I'll remember that next time. Thank you. :-) :-)

    Sorry but I didn't get the name of the black pen and the white pen you used for the borders. They looked very easy to use and very "flowy" for want of a better word. Enjoyed your video but am still puzzled how people would use these. Will certainly have fun making them, but how to use them????? It was fun. Thanks. Bev from Australia.

      Hi Bev. The black pen is the Posca pen. And the white one is either the Posca pen or the Sharpie Poster Paint pen. Those are the two main pens I use to do stuff like that. They do work really well and flow great for this type of thing. As far as using them....sometimes people trade them, you can add them into your art on canvases or tags or ATC's etc. You can just give them away in happy mail and let someone else decide what to do with them. lol I used some of mine on ATC's...I made a canvas with some (there is a video of that)...I used some on a journal page (there is a video on that too). You can make a mosaic with them. Whatever you can think of is ok. :-) There is no wrong way to use them. Anything goes. :-) You are so welcome and I hope you enjoy making them.:-)

    I see you keep your ink pads upside down...Can I ask why you do that? I'm new to this. Thank you

    • @BlackbearyForest
      @BlackbearyForest  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello :-) Well, it's mostly habit now. lol When I first started mixed media I heard someone say to keep your pads upside down to keep the ink nice and juicy at the top of the pad. I later heard Tim Holtz say that you don't need to keep your pads upside down because the pads stay juicy sitting the correct way. So, it's one of those preference things. I was in the habit of storing the Staz On upside down so kept doing it. However, I do not store my Ranger Distress Inks upside down. To be honest, I think either way is fine. :-) You just have to decide what you like best for yourself. :-) I hope this helps. :-) Thanks for watching.

    Darling, what do you use them for. I am new at this? thx

    • @BlackbearyForest
      @BlackbearyForest  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jan. :-) There are all kinds of uses for them. I used mine on a journal page. I also used a bunch of them on a canvas. I think there are videos for both. I don't know the names of the videos but you should be able to tell by the thumbnail photos. I have also used them to stick in happy mail packages. Other people have told me they make earrings out of them. You can add them to the end of stick pins to use on your art. I have seen tiny books made from them. I'm not sure I would have the patience for that project though. lol That's a few ideas, I'm sure there are many more. :-)

    • @BlackbearyForest
      @BlackbearyForest  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I never thought of that....that's a cool idea. Have you ever worn Inchies as earrings? Boy would that be an awesome conversation starter. :-)

    • @tegmapat11
      @tegmapat11 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I make them for others, but unfortunately, can't wear dangle earrings for two reasons..... one, I have a torn ear from my grandson grabbing at an earring when he was about 8 months old. So, dangle earrings just don't work as that one earring would hang lower than the other. Secondly, I don't have much of a neck, so I look ridiculous in dangle earrings as they hit my shoulder. However, most people love the earrings made from inchies. They can be hung as a triangle, or as a square, & the designs are unique, no one else will have the same earrings. And, you can make them any size you want, so, give it a try..... I'll bet they will be something all your friends will ask for. LOL Thanks for all you cool ideas!

      Oh goodness...that must have been a good pull on your ear. Ouch! I only wear gold or silver (not sterling, you know the plated kind I guess) hoop earrings but I love the idea of Inchie earrings. I have a hard time wearing much jewelry. I love it but as soon as I try anything "out of the ordinary" for me I feel like I'm weighted down with bricks or something. lol It's odd. My sister might wear Inchie earrings though...she's not a plain jane like me. lol I hope you have a great day! :-)

    • @tegmapat11
      @tegmapat11 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can also use them to make pins to wear on jackets with a scarf, or on the scarf itself. And as far as earrings go, you can buy the hoops in whatever kind of metal you wear.... gold, silver, allergy free metal, whatever. My suggestions were for those below who said they loved the inchies but didn't know what to do with them, so I hope my ideas were of use to them, and to you, too. Have fun creating!
